  1. Personnaly I would go with my gut and pump up the team and see if they can execute. Win or lose you live with the decision and either look like a genious if it works or second guessed by arm chairs for the next 9 months till the next season starts. What I don't like is Clayton putting this on Donnie Webb. As the head coach YOU make the call and take full responsibility for it. Reading the article sounds like he is deflecting the responsibility. Should have said " We decided to go for the win, fell short - I stand by MY decision, felt like it gave us the best opportunity to win it right there". As much as I support Franklin Athletics - I would like to see Coach Webb take the helm at another local Wilco school and build another strong program, not work under a coach that looks to thow you under the bus.
  2. Let's let the Indy smack talk settle down. Give the fans some credit for being passionate about their team and players - the game last week and the season are over, as should the kicking a guy when their down actions.
  3. 2003 Brentwood Franklin game won by Franklin with a FG in OT was not playoff game. Was regular season tilt that broke Brentwoods 20 game winning streak including their State Championship run in 2002. Playoff game that year was won by Franklin again in the Quarters 14 - 7. All points were scored in the first half - second half saw two teams battling back and forth not giving up another point. These two teams have met year in and year out twice a year with no one gaining much of an advantage other than RESPECT for each other, regardless of how bad they want to beat each other! Another classic in the making - best of luck to both teams and either team will represent Wilco very well.
  4. A second season that is supposed to earned by playing well and winning games - not a second season that rewards mediocrity or in these cases just plain bad.
  5. The sad reality of this new concoction that the T$$AA has created is multiple 2 and 3 win teams will be called "playoff" caliber teams.
  6. coulda shoulda woulda - all don't mean a thing. The scoreboard and the records speak for themselves. Indy failed to execute in the Franklin - looked ike they stayed in the locker room in the 3rd quarter. Didn't see the collapse against Brentwood - but the bottom line - a loss is a loss. Hillsboro in years past would be considered a good win - not this year, they are down. Get the w this week and next, secure a playoff spot - then a chance to redeem for all the woulda - shoulda -coulda's!
  7. Easy on the "Blackman has a better program than Brentwood" - yes Oakland last year and this year seam to be clicking - but over the last 6 or 7 years (which defines a program) Brentwood gets the nod. Should be a good match up - same old recipe - minimize turn overs - run the ball - control the clock. This one could come down to the one intangilbe most High School teams don't have - Special teams. Who ever gets the nod there could dial up the win.
  8. Good Luck Rebels and best of health to both teams. Question - Did the Trifecta become a Quartet when the heat was getting dialed on their posts? Could these all be the same individual with a split personality disorder? Keep the banter going - CoachT loves it!
  9. Longhorn and Wilco - meet up at halftime tonite and settle this live - one suggestion, start by listening to each others points and respect the fact the they may be differrent than your own - but may still have validity. This string has become a boor. Let's here about Centennial a little, or how about matchups, or tendancies......
  10. It's been a while since I posted - but love this week for the original "Battle of Franklin". Just to correct the 2004 game scheduling - it was actually week 5 and Franklin was 5-0 coming into the game. Not sure if Centennial played a week 0 game that year so uncertain of their record going into it. Great finish as Big Tim Leach "bumbled, stumbled, rumbled" his way on a scoop and score defensive touchdown that covered roughly 70 yards in the 4th quarter to put Franklin up. I think the closest game was actually 3 years earlier when a Centennial Field Goal to win it went wide right. Centennial needs to break through one of these years to truly make this a rivarly game - the Helmet has not left Franklin other to spend about 3 hours during the game at Centennial. Should be a great atmosphere
  11. Congrat Rebels - good luck against Whites Creek! I may have been leaning the wrong way in my prediction early in this thread, but I sure called the OT!
  12. This is tough match up for the Rebels. Both teams have a good perimeter game and hit 3's, both can take it inside, and both have good guard play. What leans me towards the Raiders is their season long tilts in 12AAA opposed to Frankins domination of 11AAA due to lack of depth in 11AAA. (don't mean that as a slam on Franklins 39 game streak in 11AAA - thats still impressive - just the talent level drops off compared to 12AAA) Both games tommorow night should be great matchups. I see Whites Creek in the one semi, and OT in the FHS - MHS game.
  13. Great chance that no one will enjoy a home court advantage when the Region Tourney's hit the semi's as only two regions have the tourney host still alive. Region 3 with a 4 seed, and Region 8 with a 3. By accident or by design? Good for the games or bad for the gate?
  14. Gotta give props to zoosie and CHS07 - the eternal optomists!!! Every team needs fans like these who are so passionate about their school. Just don't bet in vegas like you prdeict on these threads - if you bet with your heart.... My thoughts after seeing CHS 3 times this year and twice last (all losses to FHS), and seeing Antioch play FHS this year - my head tells me Antioch. CHS rely's too much on the inside game, in fact Coach Kelly talked about their strength as being the inside game in the paper. No doubt young Kelly is special, unfortunately he is not surrounded by enough talent to support his ability. Typically a special guard can raise the level of his team mates, but a post up player who is special has a tougher time. Last night was prime example - big numbers for Kelly, but didn't raise the level of play around him. I would love to see CHS pull this off Saturday night, but think Antioch has more weapons.
  15. Before everybody buries Franktown and predicts others to win the district tourney, let's not forget that: 1) Franklin has not lost to a district 11AAA team in OVER 2 years 2) Franklin has been playing without Siske for over a month 3) Franklin has been playing with the entire bench all year And most of all, until they are beaten, regardless of the score or how late in the game the outcome is determined - they claim TOTAL DOMINATION over district 11AAA.
