  1. BGA lost 2 of its three in its region rotation not to mention there left fielder, 1st basemen and shortstop. You can't replace a Matt Ridings but they will still be up at the top of the region. MBA still has really good pitching not to mention their team speed is faster than last years, never count out the big red. They are too well coached and work too hard not to do well. Father Ryan will also be solid. They had a lot of seniors but they played a lot of young guys as well. BA is also very dangerous. The league contains a lot of parity as usual.
  2. All this talk of how great all the players and teams were back in the day makes me wonder why don't some of these old rivalries start back up. (For example Ryan vs. Maplewood or Hillsboro vs. MBA). These games would be packed and provide matchups everyone wants to see.
  3. Ha Ha Definitely: this is how it is spelled. MBA roll red roll stae bound
  4. The idea of one true champion is actually very exciting. But to get that one true champion you have to include private schools in those classifications. Yes, I go to private school and i'll admit we have some advantages but when it comes down to it, boys and girls at private schools are not much more different than kids at public schools. We are all teenagers. The one true champion idea also creates the chance for those movie like cinderella stories (i.e. the movie Hoosiers, based on Milan High School in Indiana).
  5. satars12, I am a bit suprised you haven't mentioned yourself.
  6. A few other good ones y'all haven't mentioned are Stephen Huff (Ezell-Harding/Ravens), Chris Baumgartner (Lipscomb/Bulldogs), and Matt Ridings (BGA/Bulldogs). All of which were pitching on their respective varsity staffs last year. Huff was pitching for varsity in 8th grade as well.
  7. I think FRA couldnt go wrong with the three i've heard, Tom Moore, Dan McGugin, and Ron Ayedlot (sorry if i mispelled). The team has good talent, this year they had a lot of sophomore starters and were pretty good, one game away from the playoffs. With the right coach they could make the playoffs each year as a #3 or #4 seed. Coach Tucker already at FRA would do just as well.
  8. After going to a D1 private school and now transferring to a D2 private school, i will say this. It is a whole new ballgame. The top D1 private schools would be all right but the other ones would have a lot of trouble in D2, especially in football. And someone posted this earlier but a lot of these kids who go to private schools are no more richer than kids who go to public schools. I lot of my friends who go to public schools have nicer things than I do.

    TSSAA free

I was just wondering what people thought it would be like if we didnt have the TSSAA? Would it be good or bad? What would be some pro's and con's?
  10. A lot of these threads are based on big name players and coaches but what about some of the best defensive cordinators in the mid state. I know i'm biased b/c i've played under both but Coach Gary Clarke of FRA and Coach Floyd Elliot of MBA always have there defenses ready. This year for FRA, maybe not, but the last couple of years their defense has been their heart and soul. "Defense wins championships"
  11. Either MBA vs. BA or FRA vs. CPA, you can't go wrong with either.
  12. Looking in the Tennessean this week Colt Risner and Chris Wooden both have topped 1000 yards with Risner leading by just around a 100 yards. But Wooden has scored more points than Risner. Both teams are undefeated as well.
  13. What about University School of Jackson, they're always strong.
