  1. Hard to read much into scores of scrimmages. Better if someone saw Brentwood play and could post how they looked,etc...

    scrimmages

Aaah, narrow fields and scrimmages. Looks like a bowling lane,eh? Coaches subbing in players by numbers because they don't know their names. Some players playing 2 or 3 or even 4 positions. Shots skying over the post into the tops of trees above. Throw-ins that slip out of our hands. Passes that end up in the parking lots with an overweight dad in pursuit. Aaah, scrimmages!

    DII Soccer

I think DII will be extremely challenging this year. I thought BGA was the team to beat last year. I have a feeling they will play like a team with something to prove this year. Those are the kind of teams you don't want to face in state.

    DII Soccer

Father Ryan IS the defending State Champion. With that comes respect. The question isn't who is the best now. The quest belongs to only one team that has a chance to repeat in DII. The State Champions Father Ryan. The question is for them only. They have a tough task ahead to defend their title. All defending champions experience this added pressure. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about.

    DII Soccer

To win state, you have be a toughminded hunter. To repeat, you become the hunted and fight off the many hunting you with a target on your back. To three-peat, you have to fight off the hunters again with one hand while climbing a mountain at night in a storm with a grizzly bear biting one leg. A four-peat is not possible because you died from your injuries getting the three-peat. That's what it feels like. Father Ryan will experience this now. Get ready to be hunted rather than the hunter. Good Luck
  7. A good way to judge the quality of the collegiate players is to look at the rosters of the USL PDL teams in the summers. The best play in the pdl and 29 pdl players last year are now in the MLS. It is loaded with DI players, but there are scattered DII, NAIA, and a few DIII playing right with the DI players in the pdl. It is the best way to compare the talent level. An example is a Lincoln Memorial (NCAA DII) player Jon Williams(CBHS 2003) was just signed to play with the Indiana Invaders of the PDL. He will play this summer with DI players from Univ. of Indiana, Notre Dame, and others. DII, DIII, and NAIA are just labels. Good players in any level will be noticed.

  10. Region 8 District 15 district playoffs postions are up in the air as White Station shocked Germantown 4-0 today. Germantown's defense had no answer for White Station's junior Todd Williams as he posted 2 goals and an assist to put away Germantown by the middle of the second half. As Houston is the tradional number 1 seed in the districts each year, Germantown, Collierville, Ridgeway, and White Station battle to avoid the 4th or 5th positon which leads to Houston in the semi-finals each year. The final regular season district games will determine the entire lineup from 2 to 5 for districts.
  11. White Station has skilled players but we are too young this year to compete with the top teams . We will be out of our diapers next year. This year I think Ridgeway is the most underrated team in district 15. Their midfield is tough to handle.

  18. Jon Williams (CBHS class of 2003) is a sophomore playing at Lincoln Memorial University Harrogate, TN. LMU won the Gulf South Conference regular season last year and the team was ranked nationally for the first time in school history as high as # 12 NSCAA during the season.
  19. The fella that kicked the hard cross was about 5' 5" 130 lbs. It wasn't the force of the kick, it had to be a defect or weakness in the bladder inside the ball. Now the fella who kicked the ball was sure it was his mighty swing!
  20. The Standard is there. You may be talking about the quality of the ball submitted. You get what you pay for and sometimes the cheapest ball finds it way to the field. I once witnessed a game where the ball exploded during a hard cross. One of the players picked up the flat ball to hand to the ref and a spirited dad from the other team screamed "handball"!!
  21. Scores from Friday night in Memphis paper. CBHS 3 Father Ryan 0 ECS 6 White House 0 ECS 2 Rossview 2 from CoachT posting Bearden 4 MUS 1 That's all I can find.
