  1. Once again, WesVols has outdone hisself. I pretty much agree with your assessment. The part that sticks out the most to me is the quality of the opponents played. Hillsboro has seen more over the course of 14 games. I like your score too.
  2. Great analysis WesVols. You look a lot deeper than most people in these message boards. Most can only see with their hearts and not their eyes. I was very impressed with Lipscomb against Sweetwater. It is not a "rah-rah" type team. They do not make a big play and then go crazy celebrating (like they have never done that particular thing before). Probably an extension of the way they are coached to be. It was almost like old men on the way to do a job they are experienced at, not kids. If they are truly on a mission, it will be hard to stop them. The results of the last three weeks speak for themselves. However, this Mitchell team as reported (I have never seen them play) is very athletic. Lipscomb did beat a Tyner team, that is probably even more talented than Mitchell, rather badly. There though they had weather to help them, and they just handled it far better than Tyner. Mitchell will get the advantage of turf. That seems to help faster teams a little more. Lipscomb by 33-0 seems a little bold. I'll go with you though and say they win by 10.
  3. sportswriter No need to apologize. No one should be offended at the facts, not even the Boyd people. The facts speak for themselves. The kid can and will continue to play on a topnotch level. I hope he does get a major D-I scholarship next year.
  4. As someone who has watched them from the other side of the gym for years, I would have to say the kids at Hume Fogg are great. They seem to have more fun than anybody whether they are winning or losing (obviously more winning lately). They may not pile up the most money in athletic scholarships; but, you would be hard pressed to find a group that piled up more academic scholarship money. Keep it up you are a lot of fun to watch.
  5. I watched Lipscomb last Friday, as they were the only game in Nashville. I have never seen Mitchell play. Accordingly, will not try to predict. Hear that Mitchell is very fast. Turf should enhance that. An "I dare you" defense should make things very interesting. It is reported they will line all eleven up on the line at times. I look forward to that. Lipscomb was most impressive against Sweetwater. SW was a bigger team but did not seem to have the same intensity or desire. DL also plays very good defense though from more standard formations. Mitchell is not getting a lot of respect on this thread. You get to where they are for a reason. This game will probably be closer than most seem to think.
  6. Congrats to Jon on another great year and a stellar career. Saw him play at Ezell as a junior. Very impressive as a quarterback. However, to me he has college safety written all over him. I think with the potential to be dominant at that position.
  7. CPA should take this one. Their line is dominant and they will be better coached. If they can shut down the Ezell passing game, Boyd should be no problem. Boyd may have a better deliverer of the ball; but, the catchers of the ball at Ezell are far superior to Boyd. CPA handled them OK and will shut down the Boyd passing game. Can Boyd run on CPA? My money would not be on that happening. CPA by 13.
  8. Very interesting game which was not really close at all. Sweetwater line was very big but seemed to do nothing against the Lipscomb front. The Brock kid from SW is a very good back; but, nobody runs without some degree of blocking. The sophomore from SW was a non-factor. Have not seen any stats but I am guessing DL had well over 300 yards for the game. SW probably under 150. The Elrod kid has now played in about 6 or 7 games and has continued to get better and better. Losing to a pretty good Boyd Buchanan team that they should have easily handled in the ninth week was probably the best thing that happened to this DL team all year. It seemed to bring a focus that was not previously evident. Mitchell better bring the A game next week or it will be a long trip back to Memphis.
  9. My guess: CPA - 24 BBCS - 13 Coach Pack and his entire staff do an excellent job. They will have CPA well prepared to deal with the Heally kid. Dominant CPA line will force BBCS to throw early and often.
  10. Congratulations to the Eagles. Hope you continue to play well. NCS will never be the biggest, quickest or strongest; but, coach Anderson just has a way of getting the most out of what he has. It has always been that way. It will be important to build on that "winning feeling" as things get a lot tougher as district schedule approaches. Keep up the good work.
