  1. A wise coach taught me that you are never out of a match if you have a good cradle(far, near), solid roll from the bottom (hip/side, granby, standing, Petersen), and a takedown to the back(fireman's, head throw,Mu Chang, ect.). Pin takes it all!!
  2. Shack is the man. He hops out of the truck - quickly blinds them with his red pants and throws his clip board which cause severe paper cuts. Clean escape follows.
  3. Papabear got it right. The TSSAA is a nonprofit organization that is run for a profit. If your goal is to change the format in any way, then you had better have a plan that will translate into dollars for the TSSAA. The TSSAA is also sensitive to the workload for the dollars that are 'earned' via the tournaments. It is the way the creature works. Maximum output(dollars) for minium input(work). Talk about it all you want, but change will revolve around the dollar. Bank on it. Stay slick stay quick!!
  4. The best answer is FRA (Nashville) which has a student body of @240 boys and girls grades 9-12. FRA has competed successfullly this year under the coaching of Marc Taylor and his able staff. They finished 2nd to Overton in the district defeating Hillsboro on the way to the finals (I think). They also have several individuals that have shots at medals in the D1 state.
  5. Congratulations Jordan, We have watched you grow into one of the best all time wrestlers in the state. I hope the current run of excellance for Tennessee wrestling will be continued by you and the next crop of youngsters that move to college. We are cultivating some bragging rights on the college level and I'm sure you will add to that trend. Thank goodness - some respect. Great job-keep it up
  6. I'm sure there are some state champs that had no experience other than the year they won the state. Larry Hunter from Pearl was a state runnerup to Steve Agnew in 1972. There has to be a 98/103 or HW that pulled this one off? Put on your thinking hats!
  7. Never competed but coached-Randy Thomas-Springfield

  9. Thanks for the input. I really wonder how the old guys (pre-leg wrestling era) would match up with the leggers of today. Seems like Chattanooga City were the first high schoolers I saw using legs in the early '70s. Fill us in you old geezers.
  10. Could he be as good as Harlow or Scott Wells? Emendorfer must have been really tough also. Two of those three are beyond my time of seeing the State tourney.
  11. Marc Lyle Baylor vs Tom Marable Lynn Goss 105 --Hmmm, yes team 2

  13. It is my team and I had to stink a few down and fatten a few up to get the best in their slots. After input from all I will revise this list - This ought to be really fun.
