  1. Right now I am a junior at MTSU, majoring in business education to become a teacher... This is also my first year being an assistant coach with the guys....
  2. What a game.... This game couldn't have been more exciting... The two teams were tied after the 1st, then Mt. Juliet Christian (6-0) took a 26-23 lead into halftime. In the 3rd, Trousdale County (3-2) went on 15 point run and were up by 12... MJCA hit a buzzer beater 30 foot shot to end the 3rd and were losing by 7... The fourth quarter was crazy and MJCA edged their way back into the game with defense and rebounding. MJCA scored 22 points in the 4th, 13 of those were by their senior Shooting guard, the other 9 were by their Freshman post player. Trousdale hit a shot to go up by 1 with 10 seconds left. MJCA called timeout and threw the ball in at midcourt. One shot was no good, a second attempt barely missed and the Freshman post got the rebound and put it in with less than a second remaining... This game was truly a battle to the end and both teams played extremely hard and well. They are pretty equally matched and both should do fairly well in district 8-A. Again congratulations to both teams and I look forward to the next game in Mt. Juliet.
  3. Should be a close game... I would actually disagree with bballer and say that Hartsville has more athleticism... They fly on the court and run run run.... Mt. Juliet Christian is bigger and stronger inside and they are also pretty deep... Should be a very good game... A couple of side notes... Is Nelson Harper going to be suspended for the game?... Trousdale's only loss is to a good Red Boiling Springs team... MJCA is 5-0 and have scored 60 or more pts. every game...
  4. I think the score was 59-44, Trousdale. It was close until the second half... actually, Hermitage Springs was winning 9-6 at the end of the first and were down by 6 at half time. You could tell that HSHS were tired, especially against a Run-n-Gun Hartsville team. This was not only their 4th game in 5 nights, but 4th away game in 5 nights... They played two games in McMinnville on Fri. and Sat and were at Mt. Juliet Christian last night, and tonight of course in Hartsville. They didn't have any legs. A normally stellar Matthew Smith wasn't hitting the shots that he normally does. Also, I heard that Nelson Harper from Trousdale was suspended today? Anyone have any info? Number 10 for Trousdale is one of the fastest kids I have seen in a while...and what is amazing is that he is only a Sophomore!
  5. Just learned that he broke his foot and he is done for the season, big loss for the Wolverines....
  6. He was practicing before the season, so I would venture to say that he is hurt...
  7. Congratulations to Mt. Juliet Christian for a decisive 70-58 win and a 5-0 start, the first in school history... Hermitage Springs is a lot better than last year, kind of surprising seeing they lost their two big men and their coach. However, Matthew Smith is a ball player. He has a pure stroke and good court sense on him. He fouled out with about 3 or 4 minutes left in the game. Mt. Juliet Christian was also in foul trouble...they had their three best players foul out early, but MJCA's bench proved to be too deep for HSHS to handle. Tonight Hermitage Springs plays in Trousdale Co.'s new gym. Coincidentally, MJCA plays there Thursday night....
  8. For the most part, I agree... with the exception of Stanley Asumnu, I still think we haven't seen what he truly can do, especially when healthy... I watched a practice last month and he looked really good. Also, Jordan Howell had committed to Georgia before the whole Harrick scandal, so I still say the jury is still out on him. I definitely think he needs a little help... I saw him and Dane at the same time against Texas and just wondered what in the world Buzz was thinking...
  9. Well, there has to be some positives in Palmer, otherwise I don't know why so many major schools in major conferences were so interested (until they saw the grades).....
  10. Oak Hill Seniors David Palmer (Antioch) and Jamont Gordon (Glencliff) are in almost a freakishly similar situation.... Both played last year with Metro schools... Both are now playing at Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, VA)... Both are in jeopardy academically from playing D-1 next year... Palmer actually had his scholarship pulled from Illinois because of the risk of not qualifying to play next year. Jamont has had the "poor grades tag" on him ever since the the summer before his junior year and has been rumored to go JUCO next year. Both are now in prime position to go play at Tennessee next year (if eligible)... Since Palmer had his offer pulled, he is scrambling, as is Buzz, who had two of his signees back out and go to Lebo's new Auburn program. Palmer's possible signing might weight Gordon, who has said he is going to be a late commitment. Both played AAU together and are now playing together at Oak Hill, not to mention them playing against each other in Metro, so why not team up again at UT. Furthermore, their AAU coach's son, Chuck Benson, is now an assistant at UT... Can anyone comment on Palmer's and Gordon's relationship?.... On a side note, can you imagine the power of this recruiting class with Tyler Smith and Damien Harris already signing?
  11. Does anyone know what time Hermitage Springs plays @Boyd Christian tomorrow???
  12. Just curious about the details of this close game.... how are both teams looking??? HSHS is pretty young correct? Do they still have that young coach?
  13. Lighthouse is an extremely talented team and a very athletic team. They are going to turn some heads this year. If I am not mistaken, I think they are playing in the McGavock and Temple tourneys this year... they also play CPA again...
  14. Anyone know the scores for the Ezell and G'Ville game or the DCA-Friendship game last night. I was interested to see especially the DCA-FCS game seeing that both teams are deep in football playoffs.
  15. Thought I would bump this to see what everyone else's predictions of the district are... there are usually a lot of supporters from teams in this district on coacht.....
  16. GoMab, You are so right, it is a shame for Moy and DeMarco to not be playing anywhere... both were amazing players and have the high school credentials to prove it. However, here is a follow up question for these types of athletes.... Is it a lack of love for the game or burn out or is it something else? To me, if a player has a TRUE love or a passion for the game of basketball, then he/she will do whatever it takes to continue that dream. This includes getting your grades up in order to play at the next level. If a player claims to love the game and does not do what it takes to get on the court, then I think that it shows a complete lack of discipline. Now I am not sure if they could have been "stars" at a major D1 school, but they definitely could have had an impact coming off the bench or in specific roles, and I have no doubt that they could have been stars in a conference such as the Sun Belt,or A-Sun. And even if they had to go to a NAIA school, so what? The important thing is that their higher education is getting paid for! I apologize if I come across somewhat harsh, I just don't understand how talent like DeMarco and Moy's could become wasted at the next level.
  17. This district is starting to look like a good basketball district... we will see on the 16th whether or not the district stays mostly intact. In addition to starting to have better talent, the district also bodes 3 brand new gyms. Last year G'ville played in their new gym and this year Westmoreland and Trousdale have new gyms... its funny how this district has some of the best and worst gyms in 1A. Friendship and Westmoreland... will probably vie for the top seed in the district... both teams are still very potent. However, most if not all of FCS's players are in the playoffs right now, so I would give advantage: Westmoreland. Trousdale County... has proved in the past that its not how you start, but how you finish... look for this well coached team to make another run at the end of the season. Mt. Juliet Christian... this year's sleeper in 8a, the past two years have been rebuilding years, but this team's future is very bright and they might surprise some. Look for them to fight for the 4th seed with G'ville and VB. G'Ville- lost a lot of talent, just don't know if they have enough up and coming talent to replace the great team they had last year. VB- don't know a whole lot about them this year so I will go ahead and put them in the middle Watertown- again, not real sure about who they lost... is Rowe still there or those two good guards? Boyd- in the cellar...enough said I think 1 and 2 is a lock of being between FCS and Westmoreland, with a chance of TCHS making a late run. 3-7 will be a dog fight with TCHS, G'ville, MJCA, VB, and Watertown. Look for this district to give plenty of problems to rival 7a's district...
  18. This is probably a very good thing for Shelbyville.... Sometimes when you are smashing quality teams night after night you catch yourself coasting.... fortunate for the Lady Eaglettes that the wake-up call was tonight and that it didn't happen in the Championship tomorrow. Best of Luck
  19. I have the score at 27-21 at halftime on my ticker, anyone know the final score and/or details???
  20. Clay County let it slip right through their fingers... a shame.... Good luck next year
  21. dont forget about district 7A, Clay Co. and Clarkrange made it to state!
  22. what a game.... it got so heated at the end they had to open the doors to the outside! You could tell that there was some pretty intense rivalries going on... one of the PGs for Clarkrange got decked on a free throw. Then it looked like they had to have all of her teammates hold her back. Once they finally got her settled she made a "pop the collar" gesture that I thought was pretty funny. I also thought that CC's #24 was funny trying to get the crowd going and doing the same gesture over and over again... a great game though. I just think that Clarkrange is not used to have to come back in a game, especially with 3's. They are more a team that takes the lead and maintains it. GL to both teams in their next games...
  23. change your name Osama Bin Bball and people might actually listen to you...
  24. A great game....great atmosphere, great plays...the score is a little misleading... both teams were close til the last two minutes. The yellow jackets were ahead by five with two and half minutes remaining when a Clay County guy tried to take a charge. They called it a block then counted the shot....very questionable in my opinion. I thought going to this game that the best 3 teams in the region weren't in the final...but Trousdale proved me wrong. They have no superstars and have beaten Westmoreland twice, Gordonsville, and Clay County in the past couple of weeks. There chemistry and defensive intensity is electric. Clay County had a couple of things bite them in the butt, such as holding for the last shot and turning it over. Best of luck to both teams in sectionals....
