  1. Of Course, Joey Spann is known well for his coaching days at Ezell-Harding prior to making the move to Cougarland. Hope for the best. I understand that he is being prepped for surgery tonight. Any idea when the game will be completed?
  2. Doctor, Morton, HSSportsNut - Long time since last post! It may be a struggle right now, but the great thing about TSSAA basketball is not how well you play in Nov, Dec, Jan, but how you play at Tourney Time. Get everyone healthy - Improve every day - Keep hope alive. Remember a 7th seed East Lit team from several years ago...Revenge would be oh so sweet. And hopefully, keep the AD away from the PA's music list.
  3. Ezell's last game in non-scholarship Divison will be against Marshall County. Not a very nice going away present. Buh-bye Ezell. Enjoy your long weekend road trips to Memphis, Chattanooga, and Knoxville next year.
  4. Marshall County does have a great fish fry every year.
  5. In order to make it to Sectionals (sub-state) - you have to come in first or second in the Regions. Let's face it - Marshall County is not someone you want to face in an elimination game. Assuming Marshall County wins their district, only the 1st place and 3rd place teams have a realistic shot of making it to Sectionals, since they will be in the opposite bracket from Marshall Co. The third place game means more this year than in past years.
  6. Is Ezell's Gym big enough? I thought you had to have a minimum of 1,250 seats for AA post season tournaments. I know that FRA's Gym is too small to host Districts. I believe the minimums are 1,000 for A; 1,250 for AA; 1,500 for AAA.
  7. IMO, The Tennessean has taken a HUGE step backwards with there HS sports coverage, especially on the tennessean.com website. I can't find district standings anymore, average points scored/given up, etc. But they have given us the Massey ratings. Who Cares? I like the Coach T system of rankings much better, and they seem much more accurate. I notice that my Tennessean continues to have less and less pages each day. They need to get their act together over there or their number of subscribers will continue to drop. On to my District thoughts - Surprise so far has to be FRA. Disappoinment so far has to be East Lit.
  8. For Hume Fogg, it's Maria Bagwell. For East, it's Sharonda Brabson.
  9. Ezell called off the games versus Lipscomb on Friday Night and refused to play on Saturday Night as well! Seems pretty ratty to me. Guess Ezell needs some more practice. Big time wins for Hume Fogg and for FRA. Hume Fogg will finish in the top half of the regular season, and FRA always finds ways to play tough and pull several upsets throughout every season. Question to watch for the next several games: Will East be like the Jacksonville Jaguars and be the biggest disappointment in the district?
  10. With traffic in Nashville, it is. Matter of fact, I did a route search on Yahoo. 61.3 miles; 1 hour 18 minutes.
  11. Seems to me that Hume-Fogg got the short end of the stick. TSSAA wanted to balance out the districts, so you have 7 schools in 9-AA and 8 schools in 10-AA. So now, HF has long road trips in District games to Macon County (1 hour 30 minutes), Westmorland (1 hour), Sycamore (45 minutes) instead of 15 minute trips to Pearl-Cohn and East. I guess you could make arguments for sending MLK or Whites Creek to 9-AA, but the same arguments for HF would be in play for them. If only had DCA remained in DI, HF would probably be in 10-AA. Feel sorry for the parents, coaches student-athletes and fans for the next four years. Hope gasoline prices remain reasonable for the next four years.
  12. DL 42, Lexington 7. I am still trying to figure out how Page beat Jackson South Side. Where's Pageman when we need him?
  13. Kind of weird, an omen, whatever, that you would be "looking ahead" to 2009 when Lexington has a game at David Lipscomb on Friday Night...or maybe you think that since Lexington has a game on Friday Night at David Lipscomb that you should go ahead and look to 2009. DL 42, Lex 7. Enjoy your trip to Nashville. Don't forget to fill up at the Chicken Store gas station in downtown Lexington, since they have the cheapest gas around. Last one in Lexington, don't forget to turn out the lights.
  14. Re-Districting will really only affect Football next year. However, I will still make it to every game. May have to sneak a canned Coke and a pack of Peanut Butter Crackers into the Gym instead of visiting the concession stand, though...
  15. They had 4 Seniors last year, with the two prominent ones being #34 Sharnika Breedlove and #32 Dominica Cotham.
