  1. I heard the Rebs looked pretty good last night. Well now it's time for the best rivalry in the state!! Records don't matter for this one. I don't care what the records are at this point! It is and will always be Alcoa vs. Marvyville week! I can't wait!
  2. I would really love to get on here and bash the Rebs and say how Alcoa will win on the 25th, but it's kind of hard to do that when we haven't won in 5 yrs!! Last years game hurt me, and I'm still scarred from that game! I never expected it to get out of hand like that. I was wrong and I promised not to ever talk about the Rebs until I have a reason to talk about them! GQ is the real deal when it comes to coaching and it will take a genious to even keep the game close! Good luck Alcoa and I will be pulling for you!
  3. I will keep him in my prayers. I went to school with Neil at ETSU and I just saw what happened on the news. He was a great guy, and we always discussed football before class would start.
  4. If Alcoa shows up to play then I truly believe they can keep the game close!! But actions speak louder than words. Alcoa can't come out nervous and scared the first half. They must believe and have heart to play with a team like Maryville. I'm looking forward to the game though.
  5. Have you ever heard of closing speed?? He did have a bad start, but I expected that from him. He did close on everyone and finish second! If you didn't see that, then you may need classes sir! I give the Heritage kid credit, cause he had a great race, but Kyrus did stink everyone else up!
  6. I thought the run through was a little too much, but if the players want to pump up the crowd, then I think that's fine. I don't know about taking off helmets, but getting pumped up is fine. I know we did it every time we stepped on the field, and it seemed to work for us, and we had class for those that may think otherwise!!
  7. FB, you may be right about this one. I'm hoping Alcoa comes to play and if they can just execute and force turnovers, then this game could be close!
  8. ALCOA VS. MARYVILLE!!!!!! ENOUGH SAID!!
  9. Why would the county schools drop Alcoa to schedule tougher opponents when they had problems beating Alcoa??
  10. I read a magazine last night that ranked Marvyille 12th in the southeast. That's pretty impressive, but I also read that their toughest opponent this year is ALCOA!! That didn't come from me! That came from the magazine. FB Don't start talking about how Alcoa can't compare gold balls! We have 7 and the Rebs have 9. Sounds to me like both have winning traditions! Give credit when it's do Man!! You kill me with that!!
  11. Alcoa looked ok today. They handled OR 35-7 with the starters. Shivy ran the ball very well. He had at least 200 yrds. Randall did ok at QB, and Rae looked like a beast at D end. He had 5 or 6 sacks. Overall the Tornadoes looked good. They still got lots of work to do, but they will surprise some folks this year! I thought OR would be better than what they showed today. They looked awful! Good luck to both teams though!!
  12. Trust this is one game you should come and see for yourself!! Last year I went by the school to get my ticket and there was blankets all in the stands!!!! I can't wait til kickoff! My God brother is waiting to make his debut at QB!!! I'm excited for him and the the Alcoa Nation!! Good luck to both teams!!
  13. Thank you sir! Those were the good ol days huh? I'm still working the jets though.
  14. If Shivy can get his start right then I believe he can win the 40. He finished 2nd at state in the 100m, and if he has track speed, then he should fly on the field!
  15. What record does he have?? Marvis Dean was pretty fast also. He also ran 2nd leg on the state 4x1 team that year. So what did Gallion run??
  16. I'd have to agree with you on that, but the Goodpasture game in the Semi's was a great one too. It rained cats and dogs and Alcoa won 21-13!!
  17. If you're not from Blount County then you wouldn't understand why it's still considered a rivalry! I don't care if the record was a 100-1 it's still the best rivalry in the state in my opinion!
  18. If he runs a 4.1 then I run a 3.6 and that's not gonna happen! If he runs a 10.5 then he should have the state record or at least be tied! That was hand timed huh??? Keep wishing! Good luck to him anyways
  19. Here you go again FB! I was on that team that Beat Maryville in 2000. turnovers are part of the game and we had a few ourselves. The way to beat the Rebs or even keep the game close is to play with HEART!! We didn't lie down when they scored first, we answered!! We shut their offense down just like they shut ours down!! It came down to one play and we wanted it more!!
  20. Rankin has an impressive resume himself! I'm not saying he's a better coach that GQ, but he knows how to win!
  21. I'm not talking because last year HURT bad!! I'm not even talking about Alcoa losing the game to Maryville, I'm talking about the heart they showed out there!! Besides that, Randall's hammy is getting much better. He's put on some weight and should be ready!
  22. Remember this name.........RANDALL COBB of Alcoa!!!!!!! I know he's yet to show what he can do, but it's in his blood. He's got a strong arm, heart, and decent speed for a QB. He probably runs a 4.6 or 4.7 now, but with a little help from His God brother on his start, I'll have him down to a legit 4.5!
  23. I'm not gonna talk this year, but I will say that I can't wait to see my God brother lead this Alcoa team. He's been waiting for two years and it is his time to show what he can do. Good luck to both teams.
  24. I agree with you bitcatt. I've noticed that UT is always letting local talent go and I don't understand why they do that. Travis Stinnet was a great shooter and could handle the ball, but for some reason he went to Alabama. Lee was also a great shooter and ended up at Florida. This is one reason I'm not a UT fan, because they let local talent slip away!
