  1. Let me say that i am a Huge fan of the Baylor coaching staff. Two of the finest coaches in East tn. However, I saw Bearden first hand this weekend. When they are on, they are TOUGH!! If both teams bring their A game. This will be a GREAT match!!!
  2. Thanks so much for the kind words. I have been blessed with good kids, a great assistant, and very supportive parents and administration.
  3. Because when this started, people werent sure how big the all star soccer match would be. So it started first with boys, it was a success. So girls was added, especially since girls were asking--why no girls match. I hope that people will support this again, it was alot of work, but alot of fun the 3 years I was involved. So everyone, please go to Riverbend late on thursday and go out and support TN soccer.
  4. McMinn @ Riverdale was a great match--of course i would have liked the outcome to have been in favor of Cherokees. The Riverdale student section was AWESOME.

    AAA Pairings

Welcome to McMinn's world. Each of the three years we made it, we faced the #1 team. In 2004, we were ranked #2 and were the only team to score on Farragut at the State tournament--but it was in the quarterfinals. But they keep telling me that it is a "Blind Draw".
  7. My understanding was that one had graduation on Sat. afternoon and the other had it on Sat. night, so that is why they are playing on Sunday. My source works for Times Free Press--very reliable.
  8. I wouldn't count out Cleveland or Riverdale; having played both. As a wise old coach once said, "one any given day, any given team CAN be beaten". (actually it was a good looking, tall, bald coach who said it--ha ha)
  9. As you were told tonight, Tribe02----NO EXCUSES!!!! The better team on May 15th won the match---NO EXCUSES!!
  10. Clevelands Graduation is Thursday night at 7pm. Rather than make it an issue, we agreed to play early so that their kids can play and then head off to Graduation.
  11. Region 3AAA Cleveland 1 Ooltewah 0 McMinn Co 2 Soddy 0 Finals Thursday 3:30pm Farragut loses 3-2 in golden goal
  12. District 5AAA Championship was a typical McMinn/Cleveland post season match. Both teams played extremely hard, both missed golden chances, and it could not be decided in regulation (3rd year in a row). It was another GREAT HS soccer match. Hats off to both teams.
  13. Region 3AAA District 5 McMinn 2 Cleveland 1 PKs 5-3 District 6 Ooltewah 2 Soddy 1 OT
  14. Thats funny. I thought i was wearing Black and Gold. No wonder people were looking at me funny--more than usual.

    District 5AAA

Walker Valley defeated Bradley on Friday. Any info on tonights Cumberland Co / Rhea Co match???
  16. Cumberland Co. will remain a part of District 5AAA for the 2008-09 school year. Then TSSAA will reallign things. Word around the campfire is that CCHS will drop down to A/AA. We will miss them, but not the ride from Athens to Crossville.
  17. Not trying to be a smarta**, but to knock off Brentwood. Some team is going to have to score more goals than them.
  18. Well, I can say for Cumberland Co--which is District 5AAA for now. The Jets will host a quarterfinal match against Rhea County on Monday--5pm CST--i think. Win that ( I believe that they tied Rhea in regular season--but dont quote me. I just know that they finished the regular season with a 1-2-2 District record) and they will face Cleveland on Tuesday 7:30pm at Rhea County High School.

Clinton--0 points It was a great weekend of soccer. Several exciting matches. Hope all enjoyed and plan to see you again in 2009.
  20. McMinn County is hosting one this weekend with 10 teams.
  21. Eric Turner is a Jedi Master. If the DAWGS listen to Coach Turner and use the force, they can join others who have walked before them. However, until they learn the way, they will stay on the dark side.
  22. Let an old coach chime in. There are benefits to both systems. In a dual, at least there are two whistles; two people calling fouls. And yes it is a little cheaper on the budget. Yes a three man system is better in that you have more eyes on the match. HOWEVER, we all know that some/most centers don't allow the linesmen/assts call anything but offsides/throwins. So what use are they, plus it is more expensive. Having said all this. Our district bylaws require 3 men crews for the postseason.
  23. Any idea how McMinn did tonight in the Ooltewah tournament???
  24. WOW!! That is all i can say.
