  1. This is spot on about Sharpe. No team in the country ties up 3 scholarships for kickers. Also I am as puzzled about the Cody Blanc thing as you are.
  2. I agree with you. Looking at it this way though they are stockpiling DL to defend the run which is so important. It is a matter of numbers. They have plenty of roster spots open for DL and very few for OL. I think this year TN will be much better running the ball. I would expect Tiny Richardson and Juwan James to be book ends at tackle. Stone moves to guard. The real problem is with C and Alex Bullard so far. Which drives home my point that Tennessee would love to have Jay but, they know they will never get him regardless. So why waste the time.
  3. Once again if you are taking Hubb's word as the gospel you might get disappointed. Since Phil left he hasn't had the access he once enjoyed. As a result he has to take shots in the dark and, take tiny jabs at coaching staff for it. According to him Lovie Smith accepted the UT coaching job and was on a plane coming from Chicago. So how long has that plane been circling Knoxville now?
  4. I would certainly agree with you on that. All the aforementioned players have bright futures ahead of them. Each are very good at what they do. For what it's worth UT would offer Guillermo in a minute if they thought they had a chance. Unfortunately they don't though. I really hate that. He reminds me a lot of Scott Wells.
  5. I LOVE Guillermo as a football player but, for you to think that he would be able to play Tackle in college is absolutely nuts! His feet are not good enough to block the likes of a Jadeveon Clowney type player. As an interior run blocker I take Jay 10 times out of 10. However, in college off the edge speed is the name of the game. On a separate note, don't start about message board grammar. It just puts of the impression you are desperate to be right about something that everyone else could care less about.
  6. Maybe I should have put PROSPECT. I didn't know that my every word was going to be dissected like a like a doctoral thesis. I am pretty sure that Jelks is the better prospect because he has the frame and the footwork to play any of the three line positions at the next level. His agility makes him a much more interchangeable commodity than Jay which is the main reason why so many schools covented him so much. From what you "SEEN" in Guillermo, is a Center, that is all. Yes, for the love of god he is a better PLAYER NOW but, get back with me in 4 years, just trust me. Oh and I brought up Humphries because that was their number 1 target and if they continued to try to turn Jay it would have been at their expense of recruiting of him. As a side note, in the game that Jelks "didn't impress you" HC rushed for 299 yards running behind him all night. 6.9 a carry Not that impressive though.
  7. Out of all of that, that is all you got from that. Wow, that was nice! Truth be told Jay is probably better that Humphries RIGHT NOW but, guess what recruiting is often done on potential as well. Of course you probably already knew that. Jelks and Humphries are right now both undersized but, their measureables make them better long term prospects. I'll give you an example, Chris Donald vs Patrick Willis. How did that one turn out?
  8. I would take anything Brnet Hubbs has to say with a grain of salt. He is still butt hurt because he hasn't had the access to the program he feels he is entitled to since "The Great Pumpkin" was fired. He has gained a reputation by some to now throw you know what against the wall and see if it sticks. Also he takes every opportunity to take subtle jabs at the staff since he has been distanced a bit. The fact is that Jay is a great player and when he commited to Clemson it was over and everyone knew it. So why should the staff continue to reach for him when they have a less than 1% chance of getting him and there, are much better players available at the time, like D.J. Humphries and Jelks. They haven't signed a OL in this class yet and won't unless an absolute must take comes their way. My point here is that the coaches perspective and what Hubbs reports may not necessarily be the same thing. In this case I promise you it is not. Dooley and staff know Jay can play at UT and be a valuable asset. However, If everyone in high school waited around on the slim chance that the prettiest girl in school will go to prom with them, there will be a lot of lonely boys on prom night. Just saying.
  9. Dang, I was looking forward to that game. Just wondering, isn't a call like this at the discretion of the tournament director or the host school. It's shame, would have been a good measuring stick for both teams.
  10. I wish Southwind could travel about 6 miles further north and play the Choctaws I would love to see that game!
  11. He does not project as a PG at the next level. He is a 2 or a 3. He handles the ball we enough to play either one of those.
  12. His profile on Rivals hasn't been updated since last spring. I am a legit 6'3 and when standing next to him he is 2 inches taller than me. He will get to 6'6 by next year.
  13. That is certainly a great debate. I think there is no question PP so far, is the better of the 2 as a shooter. He was a flat out assassin! However, I kind of lean toward Hubbs in all the other categories . He is 6'5 now, and still growing and his athletic abilities are off the charts. With that combination, he will is a nightmare matchup at the 1,2, or 3. He also has a good BB IQ that will help him pickup a new system in college quickly as well.
  14. The qb is playing and is fine. I hope Ridgeway thinks this is a bye too.
  15. Well we do have 1 more state title in football and baseball than you guys. Just saying.
  16. Has anyone else heard of any new schools in the mix for Hubbs?
  17. I can't wait to see what some of the DHS students come up with for signs after todays fiasco! I can only imagine.
  18. By scheduling it on Thursday coaches could go scout potential playoff matchups on Friday. Only reason I could see.
  19. No ignorant is postponing a game because of rain (or the threat of rain).
  20. I was just informed that the game has been moved to midnight tomorrow. It was rumored that OC is a bit worried about the DHS D-line and if they play it that late then it will be passed their bedtime and, they won't be available. More details to follow.
  21. It can be argued that a Thursday game regardless of conditions will produce a good gate because the target market is all West Tennessee High School football fans, regardless of their allegiances. Now hundreds of people that were going to see tonight's game and go see "their" team play can't. I think most of this call was for strategic purposes of the game not the gate. Dyersburg is one of "my teams" fiercest rivals. Now I hope the Trojans destroy them on principle alone!
  22. IF the decision to move the game is not unanimous between the two schools they should have to play it as scheduled tonight. It looks as though OC has been to the T$$AA school of economics doesn't it?
  23. According to volnation.com UConn visited. Don't know for sure though.
  24. sorry he must have stopped by then for practice. Was told he was paying him a visit today.
