Congrats to coach Griffin of the Hendersonville Commandos for his 500th win last weekend at the Duff. Thanks for your 20 plus years to this game.

I believe Andy Griffin went to state in 99 and 2001 for the commandos.

I would like to thank all the umpires that gave their time to the Skylar foundation last night at Wilson Central, they changed the date to get this in and thanks to coach Putman-Serbin and Foster in getting everything ready on short notice and to all the teams that came as well on short notice. I would rather be lucky and win. 2 quality wins and back to back with the #1 and 2 teams in the district is a little bit of playing good ball and yes a little bit of luck. But they have played well. Good Job Lady Bears!!!!

2 dropped balls they didn't even hit their gloves those are not errors. Where do you think the 2 errors came from. Maybe misplayed but misplayed balls are not considered errors.

What errors are you talking about. In the last inning I believe one was a deflection off the third baseman glove. Then a slap to the 1st baseman that was probably only 6-8 ft away that handcuffed her. Then intentional walk then a basehit. I agree they did not hit well but I believe the gray girl pitched a great game. The tying run was a bloop hit that the centerfielder dove for and came up short. Beech had 2 great plays from the shortstop and left fielder best I have seen in a while. They still will go pretty far but on this day they just got beat.

Without a doubt 9-AAA. Hendersonville, Smyrna, and no add Lavergne for toughness. Then you have Gallatin coach Luna is one of the best around. Beech is playing pretty good and mt. Juliet is coming around. There will be alot of parity in this distict this year.

At Mjhs vs.Smyrna one ref was using two hands to signal foul calls. The trailing oficial would make calls down on baseline in front of his partner. By rule only artificial noisemakers are not aloud but they took ours from the crowd again. They need to officiate and let the crowd have fun and one of the refs was even making comments to the crowd how the call he made was correct. These officials were horrible and unprofessional. But as we all know it there is no reprucussion for refs.They need more training and not get the first person off broadway and says he wants to be a ref and put him in a uniform and give him a couple middle school games and then he is ready for varsity action. WRONG! :confused:

Don't they have their own field and lights? The administration seems they are wanting a good program but it is still going to be the responsibility of the city and parents to work together and start a fast-pitch league. I know before the split they were very competitive and had ome good athletes back in 87-89, they had a pretty good coach but got into major trouble with the law, ever since then it has been down hill. The girls deserve better, the soccer program has taken off,along with football and basketball, and now even volleyball. It is not the coaches fault I do not think. Sometimes you jst have to play the hand your dealt with. Best of luck lady's.

I can understand your reasons but someone has to step up to the plate and do something. Does anyone in smyrna realize the oppurtunities for young women to go into college with a scholarship, the olympics, and now there is a professional fast-pitch leagues forming mostly out west but they get to play for pay,instead of having to pay to play. Those parents in smyrna can gripe all they want about the coach but until they start having developmental leagues smyrna softball will never be competetive. :confused:

I do not understand why all the rutherford co. teams have success in just about every sport but smyrna softball is just not very good. Why? is it the players, coaches or administration does not care enough. Why doesn't the city of smyrna have a fastpitch league? just wondering. :confused:

Well, it must seem that your little darling (s) were either cut or you were cut. Either one it is sad when people blame coaches for having discipline, trying to instill a winning attitude or the hard work and dedication it takes to have a winning program. You must still believe in having fun and making sure everyone gets to play well that is what happens when you pay to play. Anyone can make all tourney if there are only 2 or 3 teams in it. You or your girl(s) would probably would not have made your previous schools team at least they or you were given the opportunity for 1 season to improve, you did not and there were younger talent that was much better than you or your girl(s). Face it play summer ball get better and try again or face the fact that it is not what you were not meant to do. You do have to have some athletic ability to compete at this level and you apparently do not, do not blame the coaches. If you are a parent I would say quit living your dream thru your girl(s).Oh yea having a near .500 record and beating the defending state champs for their first year, it sounds like they did somethin right.
