What about Coach Larry Eddings at Bradford? He is new to the school, but is coming off of a very successful coaching job at Bethel College. He was the women's basketball coach there and has been to the national tourney with them three out of the last four seasons.

The only thing I have to wonder is did she sign too early in the year?

The thing to keep in mind is that every good coach knows that a team does not need to go into the tourney undefeated. The pressure is too much and a player at this level can get a little too cockey. It is better that Gleason lose now and learn from their mistakes for later. thumb

I started this board Lenny and I am revolted that anyone like you even joined the chat. For your extremely smart remark on if Gleason has a baseball team, yes we do. I personally think that you have an obsession with the Gleason teams and need to get help. And even if you did graduate from Vandy that does not mean anything. Anyone with enough money can graduate from college with a degree in BULL____. So you could very well have a diploma. But please do not use it on a board that was solely meant to compliment a program that had a rough year.

You must be young and uneducated if you are unaware of how hard Coach Frazier works. This man and his wife sit up and watch game tapes until after midnight at times. He studies the other teams and then shows the girls how to beat them. Coach Frazier has the same girls from pee-wees to high school, those girls trust him. Instead of taking time off to enjoy the summer, they are up in the gym working on individual skills and making 25,000 points in three months. Good talent can not be noticed unless the coach knows how to use that talent. That is why Coach Frazier has had all of the great players that he has. Those girls were dedicated, hard working, and they listened when they were coached and used what he taught them. Lenny, you need to watch who you make mad because the Gleason fans give new meaning to the term "Fanatic". I want to clearly state that no one is threatening you, we just defend our girls when some stupid imbecile bad mouths them. Maybe you should stick to things you understand, "Vandy Graduate".

Dresden is winning, period. From junior high on up. I don't know what junior high teams you have been watching, but as I remember best Gleason has been UNDEFEATED County Champs two years in a row. Maybe you need to check your facts before you shoot your mouth off.

Dresden's coach is not the only one without class on that team. After the game Tuesday night some of the Dresden players would not even shake hands or say good game. I guess they were following their coach's example of being extremely rude, like playing "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS" after the game. Come on, they have a very long and bumpy road ahead before they can say that.

I think that the Gleason Lady Bulldogs deserve some credit for getting as far as they did. Those girls were not expected to win a game or make it pass the first round in the tournaments. Instead, they went to the semi-finals and gave Dresden a good game. Good job ladies. I can't wait to see how well you develop as a team over the summer.

A cannon is a possible weapon. Even if a teacher is the one firing it off it is irresponsible. What would that pricipal do if the cannon somehow was loaded and fired? People could be seriously hurt. Is it going to take someone losing the ablity to hear to put a stop to this? Does the school have the money to make it through a major lawsuit? I don't think so. Stop this before it is too late.

I was not at the game but I do know that it is against the rules and therefore should be stopped. A cannon is a very large and dangerous noisemaker and should not be used. Maybe if the cannon is a ritual and has sentimental meaning it should be disarmed and used as a display.

It is tournament time and the real season has began. All of those other games were just pratice for this. It is do or die now.

Did anyone see the Gleason/Dresden game last night? Both teams played very well, but Dresden was not ready for that Gleason team. Just goes to show you that you can never really make predictions in tournament time.

I am not a coach but I do follow sports training practices, and last summer at a camp at Vandy they made a few suggestions. 1. Eat your pregame meal at lunch(this should be high in carbs) 2. Drink a regular sized sports drink one hour before the game 3. Only drink water during the game 4. Drink a regular sized sports drink one hour after the game This keeps the nutrients in the body level and prevents dehydration.

You are so right! Many teams are invited to these tournaments but do not go. Gleason is almost always asked to come but Coach Frazier does not take the team because the tournament is in the middle of the high school season and has no state standing.

The TNT is not even a tournament that most coaches don't put very much weight on. It is invational, not earned. [Edited by statstracker on 1-31-03 4:45P]
