  1. I am new to the hockey board. I just wanted to let all of the high school players out there know that Bethel University is currently recruiting for the very first in-line hockey team in the state to offer scholarships. The link below tells more about the program: http://www.bethelathletics.com/article/830.php
  2. I think what hurt Hudson on the recruiting end was her size. She is not very tall or built very solid. The same thing happened with Ashley Mac if you remember. Many of the bigger schools did not want her due to her size. But that came back to bite them before her 4 years were over. The same could very well happen with Kayla. I am not sure if maybe there is something in the water in Gleason but they just seem to all be kind of on the smaller side.
  3. There was something said on another form about Coach Frazier not being able to coach and that was why he had not gotten any college offers. I would like to inform people that he has gotten offers but has chosen to stay at Gleason. People need to remember that he has a son that graduated from Gleason and twins that are freshman this year. Not to mention has anyone considered that he likes coaching the younger group. Please stop insulting this man. He did not do anything to you personally now did he. Allow him and the team to enjoy their win.
  4. I know the coach for Bethel, where Anna signed, and trust me no one on that team is worried about their individual stats. They are all unselfish and only care about the final score on the board. Coach Nelson is not going to bring anyone into that program that does not have the same outlook. Those girls are a close team that seems almost like a family at times. NO one person is the team, but the team can not function without every single person. That is the way it should be. I think that Anna will fit in just fine and I look foward to seeing her play for 4 more years. Trust me, Bethel will be successful, I would bet on it.
  5. The TSSAA needs to take into account on the 50/50 rule that some communities do not have more than one AAU team for the kids to choose from. Are you going to punish the ones that want to play because some of their teammates are on the same team as them? Does not seem right to me.
  6. Many people do not relize that the school can take a count on any day of the year for their sports classification. OS more than likely counted in the middle of flu season so that they could come in a dominate the A tournaments. However, one of the smallest public schools in the state had something to say about that. Way to go Gleason.
  7. If you call everyone that runs the clock some chickens, then you are calling Freed, Union, Bethel, and many other college teams that wait until the shot clock is under 10 to take a shot chickens also. These teams must be some mighty fine chickens since they all compete in the toughest conference in the NAIA. Looks like Gleason is in good company in the coop.
  8. What does not make any sence to me is how you have room to talk. I saw the last of the OS/Clarkrange game and your girls did the same thing! Only they were able to pull off a 2 point win instead of a 10 point win. Maybe you need to look at your team's tactics before crying about ours.
  9. Love that! See that OS fans, we are so dedicated that we can even go through the math to prove that are girls got game. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  10. You people need to drop this. First of all, the game is over. Secondly, what do you want to happen? Would you be happy if the TSSAA came to Gleason took the gold ball and gave it to OS? Like that is going to happen! Anyway, only a true loser would want win a state championship like that. How about we just all go back to MTSU and replay the entire game? Just congratulate both teams on a great season and lets look towards next season. The players on the floor have more maturity than some of the so called adults that are posting on this board. Grow up!
  11. We all know who won the game. It is over now and there is nothing that they can do, EXCEPT FOR maybe type a little harder at us...go on we like it
  12. Alls that I am saying is that everyone seems to be finding something wrong with Coach Frazier and there is no reason to. The man knows what he is doing. If there was anyone at fault it was the officials for allowing the players back in the game. They are the ones that made the mistake, not the Gleason girls. Everyone needs to stop trying to take away from their victory.
  13. Stop trying to find something wrong with the way that Coach Frazier operates. If you will read that rule it applies to anyone who is hurt and has to be helped off of the floor, someone who has on the wrong jersey number or a piece of equipment that is not allowed. This rule has nothing to do with what Coach Frazier did. Why are you trying to teach a coach of over 20 years and the officials how to play the game? Who do you think that you are? Last time I checked James Nay Smith died a few years ago.
  14. Rocking Chair Just expressing my opinion about how Coach Frazier is a class act. I hate that JC had to end their season that way but the truth hurts. By the way, I am not in Gleason so you don't start talking about that community.
  15. I have watched basketball for years. I was once told by a well respected coach after he lost a game that I felt was officiated poorly that a good team does not have to depend on the officials to win. He went on to say that even if the calls are not going your way that a good player can overcome and still persevere. OS failed to do that.
  16. SportsWizard, you must not know basketball very well. If you did you would know that Gleason won the tournament in 1992 came back in 1993 to take the silver ball. Once every 9 years? Where did you graduate from? By the way how many Miss Basketball finalists have you been able to call yours? Let alone winners? Maybe you should check your facts before you go shooting off at the mouth with half of the facts.
  17. I think that the radio announcer said it best when in the fourth quarter of the Gleason/JC game he stated that it looked like a Gleason JV game. Coach Frazier could have been like many other coaches and ran the score way up, but instead he displayed sportsmanship and put in the young squad. Now I do also believe that it is pretty sad that in the semifinials of the state tournament that a team is winning by enough that the coach feels that he has to do that.
  18. You talk as if Hudson is all that Gleason has. People need to remember the other four girls that are on the floor. When a team attempts to shut Kayla down, the other girls seem to step it up and score the points. Gleason is a very unselfish team that is happy to share the ball. That is a major key to a championship team. Not to mention that Coach Frazier has not had to call any plays for his team to score. The other coaches that are at the tournament have no idea what he has up his sleeve when it comes to plays. You can't dismiss a team that comes into the tournament with the best regular season record or that in the first round defeats the defending state champions 53 to 28. Forrest was only able to pull out 4 points in the first half, and you talk about defense. HA! Now for the subject of enrollment. Gleason may have a very small enrollment, but look at their cheering section. Not to mention that the superintentant of weakley county schools would not let school out for the game. When Gleason girls go to state the entire town shuts down and goes to the game. Now that is support! That alone can give a team the energy to pull off any win.
  19. I know that it may seem strange that Gleason lost to Lake County, but Coach Frazier knows exactly what he is doing. The game that was lost did not really matter. Gleason was already moving on in the tourney so why show any of the plays that Frazier has up his sleeve. He will bring out the new stuff when he has to, which will catch the other teams off guard.
  20. I come from a small town and a very small school. I know exactly what you are saying, and it does happen. I would go to the local paper and let it be known what is going on. Bad PR will get everyone at the school's attention very quickly.
  21. I know that Greenfield has a very good team this year; however, the chances of them actually making it to the finals is very slim. They have never experienced winning big and will not be able to handle the pressure. Not to mention with the redrawing of the region lines and Union City being a firm competitor, they have a very long way to go.
  22. No I have not been rejected by any cheerleaders. If someone is willing to get in front of other people and act like they know what they are doing and makes a fool of themselves in the process, then yes the term fits. I have never met a true football fan that has not seen the cheerleaders cheer at the most inappropriate times. I have even seen some talk while a player on the other team is down hurt! Defend that one. It sounds like to me that someone may be dating a cheerleader and feels that they must be a man and come to their defense.
  23. That may all be true right now but a lot can change in one season. Coaches leave, players come and go, and seniors in high school can change their ideas of what the perfect college is for them very quickly.
  24. I can't stand it when the cheerleaders stand with a lost look on their faces and scream at the worst time, like when the quarterback is sacked. Could we not require that these idiots learn about the sports before they are allowed to cheer or pretend to cheer.
