  1. Their goals might be right, but that is just a small percentage of the public school system. Maybe they are improving, but that would have to be looked at from where they are improving from. I am all for every school public or private improving. I never said David Lipscomb is not accredited, I knew it was. You are correct, nobody is exempt from having problems. But the stats prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that at this time in history, the great majority of private schools are superior in educating students. In response to your false statement about diversity not being present in private schools, that is a lie. As to your statement about an advertising budget, I have never known a public school to have one. There is no need, the students that are zoned to go there, go there. If it is a magnet school, the students who get picked in the lottery go there. Perhaps a trip to a few middle schools in Metro and observe the level of learning would be beneficial to you. You could then follow that up with a trip to a few private middle schools and observe their level of learning. Maybe then you could post on less emotion and more facts. And the saddest thing is I think yours opinions have sports as their base, which I find sad. PS remember you were supposed to put me on IGNORE, but you slipped again.
  2. I appreciate the offer but I'll wait to see you play in the Boro at State in 2011. The competition will be good enough there. We can see how your players match up with the DI's there. They are likely good enough but I wouldn't know. To answer your question, he is retired and has alot of time to be on Coach T. Probably has the most posts of any poster in the history of the world. He was a former player for Lipscomb way back, and is now mainly a fan of Siegull High School in Murfreesboro, due to having relatives who play at that school.
  3. Ms Clark is out of the WNBA, San Antonio waived her and no one picked her up. Although your assessment about her skills is correct, not being tall in the most elite league in the world is certainly a handicapp. She would have routinely faced players 6ft 5 or taller and her chances of working the backboard would be minimal. Many great, great players do not make the WNBA.
  4. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh, your post is chocked full of outright lies. I have never recruited a player nor directed a player to any school in my life. Once again the real bigot shows its ugly head. Forgive him Lipscomb. PS the real imposter is a poster who reads bits and pieces of other people's posts than pretends to be an expert. You better get focused on Seagull.
  5. what? you have some of the most confusing posts. You must be talking about duhhhhhhhhhh, he knows everything in his own mind, but his posts prove otherwise. So duhhhhhhhhhh, we are all waiting for your next post, duhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
  6. Some private schools have difficulties getting accredited, they would have to lower their standards. But most privates are accredited by not one but two national accreditations. Nimrod, privates are here to stay after you and me are gone and forgotton, they will still be here. As someone who went to David Lipscomb, you act like Benedict Arnold.
  7. The talent level may have taken a hit as you state, but more kids are finishing high school.
  8. All of the above statements by this self proclaimed guru are false and misleading. Thank you for going back to ignore, although we both know you are fibbing.
  9. I'm with you...that sounds a little dubious. Looked at from another perspective, I can't see Ryan taking a risk of this magnitude just to benefit a fairly respectable football program that is just one part of a very successful athletic program. If this is true and were exposed, any TSSAA penalties would be trivial compared to the loss of prestige and the moral damage that would accompany. And if you focus on Ryan's freshman team, there's no problem with the football program at all. Their freshman are successful year in and year out. I suspect someone at Ryan has noticed this, and probably doesn't think the solution is two illegal recruits who are receiving a better financial arrangement than a local Catholic child. I see you are now re-posting rumors and lies. Just proves my point, you sir are biased and perhaps more against private schools. This is in response to Hargis posting what BBQ already posted. I have a long memory.
  10. We already play who we like. We don't want any rules changed, thats your agenda. You want the Phil Hargis TSSAA, but it not going to happen. So ramble on old man, nobody is listening. I speak for myself, but who do you speak for? Answer, nobody same as most of us. The big difference is I accept that without a problem, you don't and are frustrated. Don't you need to focus on volleyball so that the Seagull players won't have to work the concession stand this year.
  11. There are over 200 private schools in the state of Tennessee. How long are you going to continue to post incorrect infomation in an attempt to promote your agenda. If you are going to post infomation, then get it right. BD, you'll soon get that number to 600 with the elementary, middle and high schools in the same schools. Oh I guess class size hs something to do with it. I looked at the list of the rest of the schools and wonder why the complaint of no schools to play during regular season. They aren't even in DII. Fewer students in high school ranks and really no interest in the travel Division II the reason? Again you can't read as the artlcle is on high school. But maybe a lot of us can't understand that the student population of some DII schools could be more than high school.I guess all of this does put the pressure on winning. Its your job to seek out those other k-12 schools so that your school has other schools to play. and even split up the fifty to 4 Divisions so that all can be a state champion. What in the world are you ranting and raving about. Ryan plays a ten game season year in and year out and has no problems scheduling a full schedule. Your dramatics are comical and border on nonsense. I don't care about any of this dribble except the education part of it. Lastly, was not counting elem, middle and high school as different schools. Elementary and middle are one, but never are they in the same building or on the same campus in Catholic schools except for a couple of exceptions. Its the same with Ensworth, the high school and middle schools are sperated by location and distance. Small private schools are very useful and fit a purpose even if it is for a poster to find a way to increase a number in the group he happens to be in. Makes the number seem more powerful, greater than it is, separate from the others, provide reason to attend. Duh. Put everyone in the same Division by size and zone them. If nothing else works. Build more schools or get the rules changed. This thing of openly recruiting athletes under aid has gotten ridiculous. Change the rules. Put it out in the open. Nobody is checking on it nor does anyone want the job. Don't hide behind a misson. or poor students. Winning with aid is the thing to do. It is the selling point. Let the schools raise more money so those kids can play ball, go to school and win. It is of no one's business except the school, the parent, and the player. Playing D2 schools mean nothing except a game in the scheme of things. No motivation. Playing private schools, in D1, does and is of interest. Even the students wind up losing identity in their home community. But they do have smaller class size and identity in a smaller school. winning with aid is notttttttttttttttttt the thing to do. I find it shameful that you would make a statement such as that. Aid is not for winning period. Aid is for those that need it, ballplayer or not. Anything else would be a miscarriage of justice and fairness. But some don't care about that. Need based aid is for the needy. Nobody is hiding anywhere as your disrepectful statement alluded to. I think you are quite possibly possessing some ideas that are as old as man himself and just as outdated. Another exception to your statement that it is no one's business except the school, player, parent. You are saying that if you keep it quiet or private, then the shameful act of cheating is okay. Thanks for the show of character you displayed with that statement. Some of us just can not and will not think in that mode, thank God. Oh by the way, Catholics schools almost entirely have seperation of elem, middle from high school except on rare occasions, there is no boosting of number of schools. Now set back and think for a while and come up with another negative post concerning private schools. I know you got it in you.
  12. The rules are clear as a bell. Aid is restricted to need-based only. There is no such thing as an academic scholarship. Seems clear to me.

  14. I believe I will wait and see if what you post is true or just a rumor. If they are getting 100% aid which I highly doubt, then I would speak to the Bishop not the board of trust. I even doubt that Father Ryan has as you describe it brought anybody just for sports, in other words you are stating that they are recruiting for the sole purpose of playing a sport and giving 100% aid irregardless of qualification, thats against the rules of TSSAA and eithics in general, care to elaborate further. I'm with you...that sounds a little dubious. Looked at from another perspective, I can't see Ryan taking a risk of this magnitude just to benefit a fairly respectable football program that is just one part of a very successful athletic program. Good to hear from you Kwoodruff, hope you and your family are doing well.
  15. JPII already gives aid to athletes based on need. What JPII needs to do is get in the proper classification for their size. That would be DivII A. The success you alluded to took place in that classification. Never won a title even in Div II A. All Div II schools can give aid to athletes. So why don't you say what you mean. If JPII will give the studs full rides, then they might rise from the ashes of Div II AA. But what about the other needy students who don't happen to play sports, the heck with them. Boy that would be fair and promote the schools mission backwards. In previous posts of yours in years past, you have stated the exact same situation for Father Ryan, now what is it going to be, JPII or Ryan as the bottom dweller according to you. Their enrollment does not allow them to drop down. Unlike schools like BGA that choose to play up, with JPII's enrollment they can't move down. Are you sure about classification. They have approximately 640 students, I was told that they elected to play up when they could have stayed in Div II A.

In previous posts of yours in years past, you have stated the exact same situation for Father Ryan, now what is it going to be, JPII or Ryan as the bottom dweller according to you. It's my understanding that Father Ryan brought in two freshmen to play football for the 2009-10 season. This was a way for the school to "test the waters" and see how it worked. I have been told that the two Non-Catholic student/athletes have been successful in both the classroom & on the athletic fields. The end result has been positive and the Irish are looking to bring in around four or five athletes for the 2010-11 school year. I was given this information by a member of the Board of Trust. I know how you feel about athletes being given 100% of the financial aid that they qualify for when other students are only given 50% of what they qualify for according to the people in Princeton. If this is happening and you have a problem with it you may wish to speak with the President of Father Ryan or the Board of Trust. I believe I will wait and see if what you post is true or just a rumor. If they are getting 100% aid which I highly doubt, then I would speak to the Bishop not the board of trust. 18. I stated that you are intimidated by other opinions, it doesn't matter who the poster is as evidenced by your responses to other posters on various topics. Your personal comments on me are silly and once again based on someone disagreeing with you. The hugh comprehensive schools speak for themselves, nothing else to say. But there are options if one wants to utilize them. Your statement about perfection is right on. Are there any other common sense statements that you would like to add. No, the statements of the CS are what you are trying to speak for and they are just your opinions which really mean nothing. There are options, 1-7, K-8. It is agreed that preferences trump. Marketing is your task and trying to degrade will be challenged. It is true that PS have some problems. After all, they are the big kid on the block. Private schools have there own issues also and for someone on this site to disregard that during the recruiting period for privates, is disingenious. Just more marketing. And what firm are you with? I don't have a clue as to what you refer to as "recruiting period" and I work for no firm. It is becoming quite clear to me that you are challenged in some vital areas, so further discussion with you is a waste of time, but don't think for one minute that I will not post my opinions same as you do, just won't get as many complaints. Please post soon on the devastating effects of the Mid Tn Volleyball Tournament new venue on the volleyball thread. PS I or nobody else has to speak for Catholic schools that you call CS. They speak for themselves. Here is one last piece of terrible news, your opinion means nothing either.

  20. I was in a comprehensive high school recently showing a video to a particular class. It was like trying to wade through a New York city street. Part of my job is visiting schools. As to your question of what makes me think I am an authority on the subject. I never said I was an authority nor do I think that. I said you think you are an authority. As to the charging at the school that has a seven to one student-teacher ratio, it is one of the best bargains in town. St Pius on Tucker Rd, Nashville. Quality education, no argument and there are others. As to the rest of your post, the only one that can really understand it is you, kind of a scary thought. Every time you attack my posts which by the way you have stated many times that you were not going to respond to, it seems you are intimidated by another opinion. Bottom line is I get your Goat and that just bothers you alot. Try and have a nice day or better yet, go visit a comprehensive high school so you might know better about what you post. I was amused at your listing of video equipment and other electronics, etc as evidence that a school is doing its job. If that was the case, then comprehensive schools would be shining examples of education, but alas, they are not yet. PS in response to your statement that middle schools grades 1 through 8 are out of date with current teaching methods. Good, oh so good, because current teaching methods in the state of Tennessee haven't been winning too many awards lately, so I am glad that according to you, the Catholic middle school system is out of date. What is in date is success, quality education and the total forming of our students. If that is out of date, so be it. That was your most short-sighted, silly statement.
  21. Once again, you have no knowledge or could even guess as to my experience in the education system. As to your ignorant statement that larger schools offer more than smaller schools, you must be speaking of small public schools, and that may not be true. Your own statements about finances and the lack of them would also attest that bigger is not better. Your equating private and public schools is again short sighted. I am not presenting anything for any reason. I am simply expressing opinions same as you are. I do not have to sell any product, private schools speak for themselves. You have volleyball of the brain disease which effects everything you post. Any statement about knowledge that you make is comical since you have demostrated time and time again that you have an agenda, that does not necessarily transfer into knowledge. Ask yourself a question, why do so many posters question everything you post on various threads? Is it because they are all stupid and you are so superior in intelligence or is it some other way. You are always presenting yourself as knowing everybody, knowing everything, and having experience in every topic on this board. Do you really think anyone buys all that balleyhoo you post? By the way, why didn't you acknowledge that you were the Lipscomb ballplayer in the Nashville Retrospective newspaper, do you still have those glasses you wore. One last request, when are we going to be able to read your post about all the damage that the Mid Tn Tournamnet caused last season, hurry up, we are waiting. Oh yeah, I forgot, once again you stated you were no longer going to respond to my posts. I just get your goat, I guess. One last poing, no, we do not agree that larger private schools are better due to size, just not true. Take a trip to St Pius on Tucker Rd where the student to pupil ratio is approximately 7 to one and than tell me larger is better. If anyone thinks larger is better, go to one of the comprehensive high schools in Nashville and sit in the classroom with the 30 or so other students and watch the teacher spend alot of time just trying to maintain order, and then teach as well. It ain't easy.
  22. I agree, comprehensive schools are a dismal failure for the most part.
  23. Rick, I think there is no question that smaller schools are much more effective and conducive to learning. Another poster says build the bigger schools because the children will be going to colleges with 20,000 students or more. But many, many children go to smaller colleges and if someone looked closely at test scores and percentage of those earning degrees, the smaller schools would come out on top. All one needs to do is compare what ACT score it takes to get in to many of the major universities versus what it takes to get in the smaller colleges and universities. If anyone has sat in a classroom with 200 other students, this happens at UT often, versus sitting in a classromm with 20 other students, who do you think is going to get more individual attention, thus learn more, the smaller class wins every time. Thank God, I never had to attend a high school with three or four thousand kids, I would not have made it.
