  1. Yeah...No kidding!! And so has Mario, thus the comparison.(DUH)! You yourself might not be jealous but everyone hating on him is either jealous or can't take a loss and swallow it. Just because White Co. is not the best in the district does not mean it is weak. I'm sure Oakland would be glad to disagree with you. Lebanon, Blackman, Cookeville, Warren Co., and Riverdale are no slouches either this year. It really makes for a fun disrtict when all the teams in it have a good chance to beat all the rest of them.
  2. OK..OK..OK!!!! Who won the ******* game. Thank you! It's getting really old trying to convince all you Mario haters of just how good he is. I am really getting sick of hearing "Oh no, Mario only had 12 points, he stinks now because he missed a free throw." How many times has Michael Jordan missed a game winning shot? You cannot expect even the best in the world to score 30 every single game. So why don't you sore, jealous, belly-aching losers go hate on someone's team that you actually did beat instead of crying about how Mario had a down game and start crying about how your team is 0-7 in the district!!!
  3. That's darn strait. A true fan of basketball cannot help but be admired by Mario's ability. I don't think itould have said it any better....people only hate because they don't know or they want to be half as good as him. And layup since you oviously don't follow Cookeville basketball, if you follow Sparta basketball then you know that almost every game these two have played the last 2-3 years have been REALLY low scoring because they know each other so well. One last year I think was 19-17. If you went to the game then you saw Mario take only take about half as many shots as he usually does and stil led Cookeville in scoring. They also double and triple teamed him as soon as he got across half court with the ball so he was forced to pass. And not to mention at the end of the game when he got the ball with under 30 seconds left they fouled him and since that was only 6 team fouls they gave it to Mario again and again he was fouled. WHY??? Because they have a tremendous amount of respect for him and what he can do. Unlike you!
  4. Oh no....I'm not questioning the past at White Co. What I am saying is that this team according to 85warrior seems to be one that knows not too much about playing as a team. Any senior who will quit just because they can't start really needs to rethink playing in the first place. I'm sorry, but that does not speak very well for your team.

Whhoooaaaahhh!!!!! My brother, please, if a person like you has the audasity to sit behind a computer and speak these statements that you "heard" about Mr. Shanks and call people (crazy) for suporting him then we have a problem. I have lived in Cookeville my whole life and played baseball my whole life and to hear you speak these words about a close friend of mine and in reference call me (crazy) does not go down too well. You my friend need to recollect on a rule they teach in kindergarden and that is "think before you speak". And in not doing so might cause discomfort for others. And that is exactly what you have done. My whole family is extremely close with Mr. Shanks and I personaly take offense to the part about "shipping him back off to Upperman where he IS a legend" Mr. Shanks has done more for the baseball aspect of quite a few of the kids in this community than you could possibly dream. That is not to mention all the wonderful things that he has done and brought to the community and to Cookeville High School, including Coach Hunt. He is a man bigger than words can say down here so you REALLY need to think before you diss someone that you obviously do not know.
  6. If I won't laugh then where do you roll at, well brother speak up since you got no love for mine. You bring anybody you want from the Upper Cumberland, from Smith County??? or Macon??? and I will tell Mario that you are coming and we can set something up like a one-on-one!! I cannot believe that you are dissing someone that you don't even know and from your judge of talent sounds like he would wipe the floor with you too!!!! This is hillarious!!! Cavs35, can you believe this clown!
  7. That is very true. Cookeville's tallest guy is 6'1" - 6'2"ish. But the way they win is pushing the ball up the court and then kick it out to any # of different guards who can shoot the rock from anywhere. They are very fast and don't realy even have a legit post player. But 2 names to remember from Cookeville are Dan Curry(by the time he is a senior you are looking at a 6'5" forward who can run, shoot, and play D!) and Zach Hennigan(will promise to be one heck of a point guard). They have several other good players and shooters but those are the main two to watch out for.
  8. No that's ok, I believe you that he played bad. I have seen him when he has bad games and they are not pretty. Do you play HIGH SCHOOL ball and who for?? I am curious to find out where you are from so I can have myself a little laugh at your expense. I ask this question again....if Mario is not the best then WHO is? There is no one better. BOTTOM LINE!!!
  9. Uh hello. You have obviously never seen him play. Half the time he passes they pass it back to him or can't catch it and who would you have him pass to? He has extremely good vision and averages 4-5 assists a game. Some of the passes he makes are unbelievable. I think you have misread this thread. It says the best in the UPPER CUMBERLAND not the state. If he is not the best in the Upper Cumberland then who in the world is?
  10. Do you know what the score was when these two played last time. If you don't remember it was 47-40. Lady Cavs! If your coach was smart then she would put the best players out there no matter who she made mad. If Hacker was the best and she is not then she would start. If your opinion is correct then that just shows you something about White Co. basketball. A team player knows how to play their role and only cares about the team winning and not wheither or not they start. Sounds like you have got yourself a couple of individuals down there and those kind of people prevent teams from going places. [Edited by dog11 on 1-26-03 3:32P] [Edited by dog11 on 1-26-03 3:34P]

I am under my 2nd coach at Cookeville and I knew the 2 before them and I am good friends with Mr. Shanks. As to the aspect of the basball situation Mr. Shanks does not do a thing that would influence the decisions made by the coaches. 2 of the 4 coaches before Coach Hunt simply went on to bigger and better things. Mr. Shanks pleaded with them to stay but they couldn't be swayed because Putnam County has no money to offer anyone so it is hard to get people to come and stay here. Even though we wanted to see Kenedy stay because he turned the program around the players down here have great respect for Coach Hunt and know that when gametime comes we won't be worried about a thing and will be ready to have a sucessful season.
  12. Did you see those stats?? He only had 30pts and 11 boards in a loss to Lebanon Friday. If he was at a basketball school like Oakland or a school in Chattanooga or Memphis he would be on a winning club and get the recognition he deserves. If you are not impressed by those stats you are not only blind but stupid. Since you are not impressed, do you play ball and who for? If you do then what kind of stats do you have and what else would you want him to do besides lead the Upper Cumberland in scoring and carry a team on his back every game. You clearly do not have any judge of skill whatsoever.
  13. If Hacker is the best sophomore in the state then why is she getting subbed in? As an all-around player for a sophomore they don't get any better than Cookeville's Meredith Redus. Yeah you can bet who is going to be the leading scorer for the Cavs because you have got a 50% chance to get it right. But nobody has shut both of them down in the same game so if neither one of them gets shut down them you have got yourself a problem as Taylor will probably have over 25 and Reed will have over 15. If Taylor gets held under 15 then Reed will post somewhere around 20 or more. If Reed gets shut down....well then.....well then your just screwed as Taylor will probably shoot every time down the floor and end up with 30+ and remember Redus and McDonald have put up double figures in points the last few games. Back to the depth issue, let's say you do have more. Well it doesn't matter how many palyers you put out there, if you can't stop Reed AND Taylor you might as well just put the managers out there. If no one gets into foul trouble then you will see 3-4 subs(Talent,Martin,Allen, and Greene). If Taylor or Reed get into foul trouble then there is no telling how many players you will see. GO CAVS
  14. But that's just it! Nobody can take both of them out of the same game. I'm sure that if you took out White Co.'s 2 best players that they would be pretty common as well. If somehow that did happen then Redus or McDonald would take over as each are capable of scoring every time down the floor. White Co. may have more players but more good players they do not. Cookeville usually will rotate 8-9 and always has either Reed or Taylor on the floor. After the initial 8-9 then Cookeville has 3 sophomores who are inexperienced but are probably better than White Co.'s #10-12 girls. Yeah we do have more depth but we will let the game speak for itsself.
  15. Are you basing your opinon on only that game. Well let me tell you that if you win it doesn't matter how many people score. Cookeville does have a little more depth in the fact that they can play up to 9 quality players that give them good minutes and occasional scoring. Most games Cookeville plays they have at least 2 or 3 in double figures and 6 or 7 that put up points. Cookeville will win simply because they are the better team and are also in the midst of a major hot streak.
  16. Well after the last game that these two played(the lowest scoring game in history!!!!) I definitely think Cookeville will be on their game. Mario will have the teams total amount of points last time (35) all by himself this time. They will look to rebound off a tough loss to a very good, fast Lebanon team where they seemingly went 0 for the world at the charity stripe. Had they made their freethrows thet are probably looking at a W. If Cookeville wants to stay in the district race they have a tough road schedule this week(@ White Co., @ Warren Co., and @ Blackman). I have to say that unless White Co. absolutely shuts down Mario that Cookeville will win easily, I say by 17(65-48) GO CAVS
  17. Yeah buddy.....I played against that Lebanon team in Middle School. They were awesome!! I think 3 or 4 of them start or play alot of time on varsity this year. Saw them the other night when they beat Cookeville. They will be a great team the next 2 years or so. But to comment on the topic.....Yes.....I have been to several of Cookeville's freshman games and they are really good. Saw them beat Oakland and destroy Blackman. When these guys are juniors and seniors maybe Cookeville can finally win a district title.
  18. Yeah buddy.....I played against that Lebanon team in Middle School. They were awesome!! I think 3 or 4 of them start or play alot of time on varsity this year. Saw them the other night when they beat Cookeville. They will be a great team the next 2 years or so.
  19. You say that you know Mario and say that you played against him but were not impressed. Well my friend.....anybody that really knows Mario knows that he IS one of the best and I find it hard to believe that you do know him. Everybody has bad games and I'm sure that you saw one of his bad games and that is the cause for you to come on here and diss him like this. The only person who couldn't be impressed with him is Lebron James. He only averages 23pts/5 boards/ and 4 asts. a game. Not one of the best.....PLEASE
  20. Yep...This has all the makings for an overtime showdown. Cookeville has been playing great with the duo of Reed and Taylor and White Co. is comming off a tough loss. This time shouldn't be too different from last time in the fact that it will come down to the last couple of minutes. White Co. wants revenge and Cookeville will be trying to win in a rival's home town. I think the key will be White Co.'s ability or inability to score off turnovers. Cookeville has the edge in rebounding and post play but White Co has a couple of good outside shooters so that means it will come down to who turns it over less. Taylor can run the fast break as good as anybody so if White Co. wants to win they will have to capitalize on Cookeville's mistakes. I think it is safe to say that we are in for a great game. I'll stay with my Lady Cavs as they are riding a hot streak but it will be close. Cookeville by 2 in OVERTIME(62-60)!!!
  21. Not a real big fan of either team even though Livingston does have a couple of lookers !!! Anyway I was at the game in the Jaycee tournament and Livingston jumped out to something like a 20pt lead in the 1st. Then Snow rallied them back as best she could but to no avail as Clarkrange lost in double digits. Even with the home atmosphere I think it will be much of the same(Beechboard and Cates) combo like it was the first time. I'll take Livingston by 8 (56-48).
  22. Yeah they are going to have a lot more speed on D. They will lose some size in Ben Jones and Zack Thompson and a just a great competetor in Jernigan on the line but will definitely have speed in Shane Langford and good size in Ben's brother Tim. There are several other seniors that will be competing for the other spots on the line but they will be improved speed wise and a hassel for O lines none the less. The linebackers that you will run up against will be quick and have a nose for the ball(Tyler Turner). The secondary lost 2 good ones in Egdington and Matt Thompson but will probably have the 4 fastest guys on the team back there(Toline, Ledford, Hammock, and Adams)so the pass defense I think, will not lose a step. There will definitely be some new guys but I promise you that they will surprise teams with how fast they are because Cookeville does not have a tradition of raising up 4.3 and 4.4 guys but this year they will have a couple 4.6s and 4.7s and most of the D will be under 5.1. Trust me....they will be fast and will win some games because of it. I know Lincoln County will be bringing back some good ones so who else will have a good D next year
  23. HA HA HA HA!!! You speak nothing but the truth Sadler. Lady Cavs by 12 (58-46) on homecomming night and Taylor has 23pts. GO LADY CAVS!!
  24. Yeah your right, you did score alot. Except when you hosted and LOST to Cookeville(scored 7pts) and when you hosted and LOST to Oakland(6 pts). Why you ask? Because there is a big difference in Harriman and Livingston(scored a total of 97pts) to Cookeville and Oakland(total of 13pts). CASE CLOSED!!

    Monterey Baseball

Well since my last post on here I have personally talked to Tyler and he said that his family was never considering moving anywhere. He had no idea where or who the rumors came from but asurred me that they were just that...."rumors". He will be a great player at Cookville in the future and possibly a two-sport prospect. As for the Monterey side of things, hope you guys have a good season and we will be missing the game with Monterey down here at Cookeville. Last years game was really fun and competitive. Too bad we don't play you this year but good luck none the less.
