  1. This is just in reference to whoever said that Cookeville has no state championships of any kind and in any sport. Well I hate to be the one that brings you the bad news but.. 1999 Girls Golf State Champions then..Cookeville also had a football team in the 1960s that went undefeated and declared mythical state champions but we wont count that one. As for this Fridays football game. White Co. is probably twice the size of Cookeville if you look at player to player ratio. I think Cookeville is smaller size wise to every team they play except Warren County. The 2002 team was the last to actually be bigger than most of the teams that they played. But nevertheless Cookeville goes out and shows that just a little bit of speed and knowledge of the game along with good coaching and alot of determination can be a great recipe for success. Cavs-35 White Co.-14
  2. So when does Houston and Overton play?...TSSAA website says tommorow at 7 but Coacht scoreboard says they both play again today. And will Overton pitch Goodenhow and is Houston pitchin the monster Lea?

    region 4 AAA

Hate to break it to you but Underland and Choate while very good respectively are not even in the same ball park as Morris!!!

    region 4 AAA

siegel has shown that they can hit a pretty good fastball pitcher in Killien who touched something like 93 this year. But remember thats only touching and he does not have that good of an offspeed pitch which he didnt throw near enough. Morris on the other hand throws his curveball with almost the same consistency as his fastball. And not even to mention his 12 to 6 curve comming in there in the low 80s...Robberts fastball is barely that. With Morris averaging thats AVERAGING 93 I just think that he along with some timely hitting from Tullahoma will be too much for siegel.
  5. This will be there 6th game on the road. In their first 5 road games they had 3 shutouts, one against another region champ in McGavock. And they also can claim a win in the highly touted "Pit" down in Lincoln County. They have outscored their opponents 125-27 on the road and almost all but like 2 of the starters played in the game in Riverdale last year and remember that they could have possibly won that game had they converted in the redzone. The major factor in this game will obviously be the speed that Riverdale has in Gaston Miller and the team speed on defense. My favorite college team is Miami and in their game yesterday against a running power in Virginia who does not have alot of speed they were talking about the way to attack a fast defense and that is right up the gut. Which is exactly what the Cavaliers do anyways pretty much. And yea Riverdale probably has the size advantage but most teams do against Cookeville but it is the way Cookeville uses what they have that makes them successful. The QB Ledford is a three year starter of course just two at his present position but he is a gamer. He can throw the long ball and the short passes and before he hurt his knee was a legit 4.5 and could REALLY hurt you on the scramble. He still can get yards on his scrambles just doesnt have the breakaway speed anymore but he a great decision maker so his scrambles are very timely. And I think he has around 850 yards passing or something like that. If Cookeville were to ever pass a little more they could probably score at will because their recieving corps is out of this world. They have two 6'4" TE's and one whale of a line that doesnt allow very many sacks. I think they have given up maybe 2 all year plus blocking for a 1300 yard runner so far. Then they have some very fast wideouts that are also very physical. Three of them are at 6'2" one at 6'1" and another at 6'0". So needless to say they can make you respect the longball just with their ability alone. And Gus Paxton who will probably win Upper Cumberlands player of the year has like I said before around 1300 yards and something like 16 touchdowns. He is also a legit sub 4.5 and can run way from people so this will be a good matchup for him against a very fast defense. They have 3 guys they use to kick the ball. The punter who is a D-lineman when he gets a good snap can absolutely kill the ball as witnessed at the Lebanon game on a free kick when he kicked it to the other endzone over 70 yards in the air with the wind but still. He also has like 3 more punts over 50 yds so when the offense struggles he can change the field position in a hurry. They also use two kickers. One who kicks the PATs and short field goals then a soccer player who kicks off and kicked a 56 yarder with room to spare in practice. So if they get to the 35 they have a chance to score and field goals may just win this game. And disgusted fan come on now. Dont give up on the Cavs like most people are already doing for this game. Believe me they will be able to make a game of it, Coach J always does no matter what the odds against him. He will have stuff up his sleeve that no man has ever seen before. Because I guarantee you he went after that game last year and drew up about 10 plays that he was only going to use if he got the rematch with Riverdale this year and now that time is upon us. And trust me also on this one. The boys in Red, White, and Blue want this game more than any other one that they could ever dream of. This game is what defines great schools, great players, and above all great TEAMS. And either way it goes the winner will definately be a great TEAM. GOOG LUCK TO BOTH
  6. Well the Cavs played a very good game. One of the better defensive games all season. They held the running in check, kept the Lebanon receivers in front of them, then stepped in front of some passes. Good overall job. That Johnson kid can absolutely fly, Im surprised we caught him as many times as we did. Only problem was the kicking game. Block PAT, bad snap on the goaline on a punt that caused a safety, and several bad kickoffs out of bounds that gave LHS the ball near midfield. Good thing the D was top notch tonight. The kicking game will be a HUGE factor in the game next week...may even decide it. And Im going ahead and predicting the game to be within a touchdown so whoever has a better kicking game will win, so hopefully Coach J can prepare them for the biggest game of their lives next week which I know he can. Gus I think went over 100 yds again and Ledford while not really needed tonight had a couple of first down passes early which were huge and a couple of INT in the endzone which were almost like punts. The secondary was amazing tonight. 4 INTs who would have dreamed...and who would have thought that one of those would be by Zach Hennigan..what he only has like 50 this year...lol...and its his first year playing...not to bad. Next week will be one hard fought game and I cant wait to see what Joslin conjures up for the immortal Riverdale. WATCH OUT for this game next week. It will be close!!!!
  7. Well then it probably wont make you feel any better to know that Cookeville played 2 4A teams in White Co.(4-6) which is a rivalry game and Columbia Central(6-4) who lost in the first round.
  8. No the reason you got so defensive was because you my dear friend apear to be in denial about what has took place this year. And that is you seem to refuse to believe that even for one second that the roles of the prestegous Oakland and the little underdog Cookeville have swapped which is the case(at least for this year). That Cookeville sits at 10-1, ranked 4th in the state, and is hosting a second round playoff game after winning their region and Oakland sits @ home with a not so impressive 2-8. And for this year at least Cookeville knows that if they were to line up against Oakland(which they cant seeing as how they didnt make the playoffs) they would more than likely beat them. And it has not been to many times Cookeville has been able to say that over the last decade. State your opinion all you want but sending out personal insults isnt getting you or your beloved school(since you are a diehard fan) anywhere in the class department and ultimately thats what any coach wants for his players and the school is to be known as class individuals. And that supercedes winning by a long shot. So you might want to watch how you represent your school because no matter what kind of person you are, the reputation of your school will always be the first thing people think about and once again your not helping them out any. And since I dont know you personally your schools rep and the rep you are giving them with your classless remarks are all I can go by, but I retain my self higher than to personally insult you that is why I wrote all that stuff above! Sorry to get off topic...And a 10-1 record is no slouch I dont care who you play and in what region that is hard to do because someone has to get out there and take the snaps and score the points and stop other people from scoring them. And my guess is that the game between Lebanon and Cookeville Friday will be one of the best games of the year, because no matter what people say these two teams are very evenly matched when you talk about the whole football team and that is what decides the game...the whole team, not a stellar offense vs a stellar defense...but all phases of the game.
  9. Thats not according to what some people from the boro are saying and you are going to have to get to Cookeville before you can rival or exceed them as the new districts will probably take Cookeville out of the boro district. Disgusted im not certain i have only heard from a couple of coaches what the new districts will be. And there is already a topic on this subject on here so I wont elaborate too much but I know they want to give Rutherford Co their own district. Like Riverdale Oakland Blackman siegel Smyrna Lavergne And maybe Shelbyville (and thats the reason as to why they were going to build more schools so they could fill out the district) Then it would go something like Cookeville White Co. Cumberland Co. Warren Co. Lebanon Wilson Central Then maybe like Hendersonville, White House, or Beech But thats just all the other sports...I think for the most part they want to keep the football regions the same. Once again this is just rumor not fact.
  10. Geez man cool off. Im not trying to make you dislike your own team so I dont know where you got that from. Im just stating that you had a bad season and are not as good as previous years. And once again putting words into my computer mouth who said I was laughing at you. I was simply using Oakland as an example to show that Lebanons D is going to have trouble with the Cookeville offense then you go and get all defensive and personal on me. Take a relax pill my friend. And no offense at all on this one but in a football aspect I think that the honour and tradition are shifting to a team in region 3 who has won their region 2 out of the last 3 years. Not to say that you are lossing any, because Im sure you will try to put some more words in my mouth Im just saying that the Cookeville program is finally gaining some. And Im sure you know the hard facts about what Im about to say but in like the next 5 years Murfreesboro will have I think it is 3 new schools or something like that so the numbers may be up now so you must cherrish them because it will not be that way for much longer. And as the boro breaks apart and Cookeville continues to grow and get stronger and is able to compete with more and more competitive teams the tide is about to shift. And remember Cookeville will probably move out of their district in all sports next year and CHS will probably be in the top 2 in all sports in their new district so from here on out Oakland will have to make it a good way in the postseason to even have a shot at any Cookeville team.
  11. Oh region if you could only see that man on a practice field. I have never seen a single man more determined to get everything he can out of every single one of his players and every one of those players would do just that and in the games when he gets so emotional he is just doing the same as he wants all that hard work and blood and sweat to stand for something and not just be thrown away. And I am not dissing Oakland in any way I have a lot of friends that go there and I respect all their sports programs. But if you seem to think that Oakland is still the mountain that they once were in FOOTBALL mind you(and i do know that they are still superior in many other sports thats why I am talking about football) then maybe it is you who needs to get a life. Because if im not mistaken I don't think Cookeville has had a losing season since Coach J has been there(disgusted or longsnapper will have to confirm that cus im not sure) but nevertheless going 2-8 isnt exactly helping your statement. And who said it was the number 11...maybe it means being number 1 on two different occations...didnt think about that did you. And whats up with calling me a bum...that however is typical of an unhappy Oakland fan to resort to calling people names over the internet. This topic is talking about a football game and not the individuals behind the screen names so why don't you stick to that.
  12. To shaggy If you want to talk about points given up we can do that. You gave up 27 to a pathetic Oakland team and 21 to an even worse siegel team and if you were at the WC game which u probably werent judging by your partiality to Lebanon then you saw a fumble by a second team running back taken back 70 yds with the offense only having 10 or so yds to go and you also didnt see WC recover a fumble on the CHS 15 only to get no points out of it when they could have went up 21-7 but the defense held. And I know you remember last time when Cookevilles offense outscored LHS 14-10. And I keep telling yal that this game will come down to the Lebanon D vs the Cookeville O. You guys are over thinking the importance of the other match up which important none the less will not be bigger than the other because Lebanons offense can only take place if they are on the field and are going to have to deal with the kind of field position that their D gives them. So watch out BIG TIME for this match up To my fellow DOGG Thank you so much for regailing us with the score of your derailing by Riverdale which was just as you said 41 them, you just failed to mention you got shutout in there as well. However you do not have Coach J on your sidelines who can design a whole playbook just for 1 team and if the Cavs get by Lebanon which I think they will come to that game in the boro and see just what kind of a genius he is and watch that game be extremely close!
  13. Hey no kidding yal held him just over 100 yd yards what a coincidence we did to. Except we did that in week 2 and now both offense and defense are clicking for both teams and with a much worse defense last year we held Riverdale to 28 points and ask anyone who was at that game with a much worse team last year Cookeville had multiple chances to win. Joslin is the difference in this game. He is a football genius
  14. You guys are all talking about the Lebanon offense vs. the Cookeville defense. Well let me take you for another approach. If somehow Lebanon does score 28,35, or 42 points I would wager that the game will still be within 10 points and not necessarily with Lebanon on top. There was alot of talk about how Wilson Centrals D was so good and had held everybody under 25 points except Riverdale or something like that. Then the Cavs throw up 36 with almost 100 yds from Paxton and like 140 through the air by Ledford. Lebanon maybe averaging 45 points a game but Cookeville is at like 33 the past 4 games with the second string in for most of the 4th quarter. You guys all think that Cookeville can't stop the Devils well WATCH OUT. It might be the other way around. Joslin is the best defensive coach in the state and has the ability almost himself to line a team up in formation and just plain stop a high powered offense just like what is comming in to town on Friday night. But little do people know he also has a nact for crazy formations and plays to throw at a defense. This will most deffinately be a VERY close game comming down to the final quarter testing which team is more conditioned and which one has more heart and determination. I give the nod to Cookeville in this one because of homefield in the playoffs, the act of revenge which will be carried out, and Joslins ability to fire a team up and to stop a high powered offense. CHS-28 (Interception by Hennigan on the 1 with 1:00 left stopping the go ahead TD, then a 50 yd Paxton run followed by a 50 yd TD pass by Ledford for the final score with time running out) LHS-20 Cookeville moves on to tackle the mamouth Riverdale in Murfreesboro in the third round!
  15. Well Vols you must not have watched the cavs very closely because if you were at the Sparta or Warren Co. games then you saw Cookevilles defense manhandle both of them allowing Warren like 30 or so yards and 2 first downs and Sparta was the first game of the year where things are always sloppy and the game was never in Spartas grasp the whole time. And if you didnt see fridays score or stats of the Cumberland Co. game the Cavs held an offense averaging like 35 points the last 4 games to 0 points, 40 some yards and 4 first downs and didnt pass the opposing 40. So to contradict you the Cavs could most definately hang with Riverdale as long as they have Coach Joslin on the sidelines, John Ledford at QB, Gus Paxton at RB, and Russel Tribble at MLB!
  16. Uhhhhh.....senior dominated?????...I hate to burst your bubble but Cookeville starts only 4 on defense so looks like you got manhandled by a majority of juniors and sophomores to me.
  17. 2 things d fan- take my word for it and take it to the bank....Turner will be here next year...in fact I think it was even you who said last year after you found out that he was staying that you talked to his dad and he told you that he wasn't going to move until after he graduates...which is what is 99% more than likely whats going to happen and 5-4-3-just for the record its 4 of 7 all district comming back
  18. d'fan Please dont start that Turner is transferring again this year. You did that after last season too. Until you talk to him or his parents don't go starting stuff on here.
  19. 1 scout even got Price as high as 96.
  20. Yea oakland won but look how.....oakland threw their ace against farragut who was missing the best outfielder and infielder in the state of tennessee who are also among the elite hitters in the state. i dont know much about farraguts pitching but the guy who pitched was probably like the 3 or 4 or even farther down the line for farragut. yea oakland beat a great team and it is a great win but it was not a complete win because it was not a match of best vs best. and when its best vs best(Waldrop vs Robinson with Del Monico and Eldridge in the lineup) for these two teams farragut wins every time....GUARANTEED
  21. Jared Frazier from Shelbyville is an amazing athlete with speed, power, and plays stellar D. Also Tyler Watson and Zach Miller from Germantown Houston. Watson is a very good #2 for them behind their hoss and Miller is probably the best defensive 2nd baseman I have ever seen play high school ball.
  22. the next scrimage is tuesday at home against symrna. not sure of the time but i would guess around 4
  23. rich fronning 2nd brady adams ss brandon crossman dh tyler turner c chad maddox cf leighton smith 1st morgan toline lf derek bush rf evan dyer 3rd They used 8 pitchers, one for each inning and scatered only 3 walks and one hit and no errors. The one that looked the best was without a doubt Micheal Alcorn and Adam Littrell also did good. the O had something like 14 or 15 hits with a monster homerun by Maddox and Bush also had 2 doubles that hit off the center field wall and Dyer had a triple. and that was also the batting order as is listed above. As you can see there is only 3 seniors in that lineup so the future looks pretty good.
  24. Yeah....yal must be REALLY ready to play baseball....NOT.....you cancelled a scrimage with Cookeville because there is a weight lifting venue going on. Now what's up with that?
