  1. These kids fought their guts out tonight, and everyone in L.C. should be really proud of them. We beat a good football team tonight, ( boy they had some good looking athletes) one that I think was pretty shocked, that we played the way that we did. As I, and many other people have said all along, we were a much better football team than our record indicated. We have played a murderer's row schedule the first half of the season. We have to win out to have any chance to make the post season, and then have a little help too, but we can't worry about that, we have to just take it one game at a time and go from there. Evan Pittenger had another great game throwing the football and running it too tonight, as did Eric Smith recieving and on punt returns, but it was a total team effort and I won't name each and every one, but it took everyone on that team to pull this one out. I, for one, am very proud of the way they played, and believed that they could win the game and it happened. Now the falcons must totally focus on a Coffee Co. a team that was upset tonight, and get ready for them, and take it one game at a time. Way to go Falcons!!!
  2. Congrats to the Patriots, Definitely the best defense we have seen this year, offense probably the best too. Patriots have more than one weapon, very balanced all around, and best team speed also. Could have scored more points there but, had the class to substitute when the game was in hand, instead of running it up like some have done this year, classy program. Good Luck the rest of the year!!
  3. You got a lotta class there big guy, but some people you just have to over look.
  4. Will there just be one station coming Friday ? If so you have a visiting radio box. If there are more than 1 then i guess it will be the first one there gets it! We can work out something I'm sure. We might evict your coaches from their booth ! lol
  5. We played the best on offense that we have so far this year, had it not been for a couple of dropped passes, the game would have gotten very , very interesting there at the end. But that having been said, the warriors dropped a pass in the fourth qt. that probably would have been a td. too, so I guess it was a wash. To be truthful, I went up and watched Tullahoma and Riverdale in the preseason and Riverdale looked better in some areas and not as good in others Friday night. But we are talking about 16 and 17 year old young men here too so that is to be expected. Tullahoma can throw the ball around for sure and we did Friday night, so it might be the last one that has the ball wins. We have not played nearly as good on defense as we are capable of playing, at times our defense has tackled horribly at other times ok, but we must get more consistant in that area. I do look for a good high scoring game though, I just hope we can keep up our end of the scoring.I might also add that this is a must win for the Falcons if we have any chance to go to the playoffs, we can't afford another district loss, and even with a win, we still need some help to get in now. You can also listen to the falcon broadcast on 105.5 fm, with Jack, Donny, and Tim.
  6. Yeah, like when we play in the boro , lol . We have improved on offense, but the defense needs work on tackling. We have changed to a different scheme than we have ran before and that might have a little to do with it but, missing tackles in the open field over and over again is unexcusable, not to mention at the line of scrimmage. We played about as well on offense last night as we have in a while, but the defense has got to step it up a bunch of notches if we are to have a shot at Tullahoma, a huge district game for us. I have to say that Riverdale played with a lot of class last night, no mouthing, or cheap shots, the whole game. Good luck to Riverdale the rest of the way

  8. Thanks for the kind words, there. Don't remember anyone from L.C. on here trashing Blackman when they were "Horrible",not very long ago. Hard to compete with 2000 student schools when we only have 1100 to pick from, that, is what has changed from the past, the enrollment used to be a lot closer than it is now. As far as the glory days comment goes, At least we have had some "Glory days" to remember. By the way it is spelled Lincoln , not licoln, and County not Conty, and also Oakland, not Oaklnad.
  9. Boy I sure would like to know who was talking trash, after we scored, got a number??? The only trash talking I saw was the #44 for Blackman.
  10. Brag and make fun all you want big boy, what goes around comes around. What position did you play, waterboy? Seems that the players and coaching staff at Blackman have some class, you must have laid out of school the day they were teaching that, and also how to win with class, must not have been there that day either. I don't get on here very much anymore, and it is blow hard's like you that are the reason i don't.
  11. We just got an old fashioned butt whipping tonight, that is all you can say. We tackled very, very poorly and made too many mistakes, fumbles and dropped passes to have a chance. And we do not have the team speed to compete with Blackman right now, and that was the most telling thing to me was the speed difference, they had it we don't. period, and we have got to do a much better job of tackling. Now I wouldn't break my arm patting myself on the back if I were you, you still have to beat a good Riverdale team and a good Oakland as well as Smyrna team too. Teams that Blackman seems to have a mental problem beating. Went up to the playoffs last year and saw a Blackman team that squeaked by Riverdale during the season get totally dominated from start to finish when it really counted, at home. So there are some chinks in your armour. Blackman has a very good football team, but you will have prove it to me that you can beat the above mentioned teams to go to that next level. Good luck the rest of the year.
  12. Whew, I don't know now. Went to watch Tullahoma and Riverdale a couple of weeks ago and came away with the feeling that Tullahoma was a pretty good football team, and after getting beat like they did, it will be extremely tough for us to slow them down let alone stop them. We do have a much better team than last year, all the way around, but it may not show up as much in the wins and losses, because of the extremely tough schedule that we play, it was the toughest one in the state last year and I'm sure it will be one of the toughest again this year. Maybe we need to schedule some easier games to early on to gain some confidence as the season goes on, I don't know.... But I'm sure that we will be there trying for all we are worth come Friday night.
  13. Pretty much as expected, we had about 5 starters on the sidelines in street clothes, ran a very vanilla offense, and defense, and pulled all the starters after the first quarter, then cleaned out the bench the rest of the way, which G.C. didn't, just as expected, like they do every year. But that's fine, I think this scrimmage means a lot more to them than it does to us, and it's pretty obivious, since the majority of the coaching staff are former Falcon football players and or a retired head coach(John Meadows) that helps a little. Our first offense only got 2 series, one of which ended in a fumble fairly deep in G.C. territory. We use this as a chance for some of the younger kids to get the opportunity to play before a big crowd, and they have practiced in the heat, and deserve the chance to see some action in a "game", one that means absolutely nothing, but a game non the less. G.C.'s starting Q.B. never came out of the scrimmage until the very end, which is the usual practice every year. L.C. scrimmaged G.C. two weeks ago at home and beat them 35-7, mostly one's on one's, but we did not play very well Friday night, what little playing time that the starters had anyway. G.C. has a good football team, and will go deep in the playoffs, but from what I have seen of them (3 times since the spring) they are not at the level they were last year, but they lost a very good qb. and several other good players so that is to be expected. Good Luck to every team in the "jamboree" this year.
  14. Tonight there will be a Jamboree at Marshall Co. High School, with the first game I believe matching up Riverside Christian against Cornersville, then Lincoln Co. taking on defending state champ Giles Co. and the jamboree winds up with Marshall Co. taking on Coffee Co.. Believe the starting time is around 6
  15. Yeah, lol, I guess I should be glad to have a good job, but the 50-60 hours per week is about to wear me out!!!.Saw a picture of the BIG lineman that W.C. has, he is a monster, saw his picture in the Tennessean's dandy dozen. I just hope that you guys don't have any more like him or we all are in trouble!! The people at work don't mention much about high school football, until one of them beats us, which happened a lot last year and then I have all kinds of new buddies meet me a the front door wanting to rag me about it, but thats ok, have to take the good with the bad, LOL. Good Luck to W.C. this year and hope that # 1 has a good year and gets plenty of looks from the college scouts too. Do you think that you could ground him the week of Oct.22, that would be ok with us! LOL
  16. Hey Nitro, I heard W.C. was thinking about hiring a new assistant coach named Ray Petty is that true? Good Luck to W.C. this year, (Except when you play us of course).[/font]
  17. That may be correct about the average attendance for most games, but that is too small a stadium for a state championship game in the bigger classifications. I always liked Vandy, but MTSU was really about perfect. You never had to worry about being able to get a seat, and in most cases a good seat, for any game, that will not be the case anymore. If i was guessing , I would say Tech, or Cookeville, just greased the TSSAA's palms a little more than MTSU did and that's how they got it. I would have to drive about 2 hours to get there, and I'm not going to do that, not knowing if I will be able to get a seat or not. In my opinion, for what ever it's worth, this was a big mistake, but I guess it's all about the $ anyway. but they will lose several $ because of the small seating capacity. I have talked to several people, who like myself, have gone almost every year, that are not going because of that very fact.
  18. I was looking at the Tn. Tech web site and unless I looked at it wrong, I thought that it said that the stadium at tech only seats 16,500 people. Is that correct?? If so then what in the $%^# was the T$$AA thinking, having the games there??? I would guess that the 3A games up to 6a will need much more seating than that. There have been as much as 25-30K at those games before, what are the people going to do, Stand up? If this is true then this is a load of you know what!! These kids deserve to play in a much better venue than that. There are high school stadiums in Texas and Georgia that seat more people than that! I have missed 2 Blue Cross/Clinic bowls since 1982, and if this is true about the seating, then i will not be going this year period. Like i said if this is the correct seating capacity, what was the TSSAA thinking. People will be packed in like sardines for the 5 and 6A games and probably the 4A too, and standing up everywhere. This is supposed to be a first class state championship format, not bush league! What was wrong with MTSU???? Perfect size stadium, seating wise. Please, someone tell me that this is an incorrect number!!
  19. We went up to Smyrna Friday night and watched the Smyrna/W.C. game and the game was mucher closer than the final score indicated. Smyrna was leading 9-7 with around 6 mins. remaining when they scored a td. then kicked off and W.C. was driving when Smyrna picked off a pass and returned it for a td. making it 23-7. Smyrna and W.C. are both good football teams, with a ton of speed. We will have to play our A game to win Friday night, we are capable, but we had better bring it, with no turnovers and protect the ball. Maybe the "Pit" will be rocking come Friday night.
  20. Yeah right, like the Cookeville player that walked off the field as soon as the game was over and didn't shake hands with anybody. We'll see who goes farther. Why don't you show a little class, and quit crying like a baby, the series is tied with 4 wins each with each team winning at home 1 time and then the other 3 wins at the other guys place. Why don't you just say that we cheated, and I guess we paid off the refs too, didn't we. Grow up. I guess MUS cheated you too didn't they.
  21. We are working to get each other on the schedule next year with all the new reclassification and all. Won't know by probably late November.
  22. How is the region shaking out now with just 1 game left?
  23. Good hard fought game tonight by both teams for sure. Several no calls by the zebras against both teams, there toward the end of the game when we made the first down it was definately close enough for a measurement but the refs chose not to, I believe that's what the Cookeville coach was out on the field complaining about. To me the biggest two plays of the game was the goal line stand by the Falcon defense at the end of the first half and the pass by the Falcons to Tate Mustin in the flat for a first down on our last possession when Cookeville had everyone up in the box, that was a great call by the coaching staff. Qb. Wil Golden probably had his best game of the year all around tonight and did an excellent job of punting all night long. Also a great job by Joseph Henderson starting his first game at D.E. as well as the whole Falcon defense. The O-line also blocked pretty good tonight and the backs ran hard. I think that our kids and everyone concerned with the team were a little ticked off that nobody picked us to win the game, we didn't have as good a record as Cookeville but, we've played a pretty tough schedule. Good Luck to Cookeville, you guys played very hard, but just came up a little short.
