  1. Forgive me if I'm wrong...but I believe you apply to be a teacher with the school system & then with hiring, you inquire about supplemental positions at the school which the principal makes the decision on. Many WCS schools have AD's that coach, both head or assistant in many sports.
  2. I know who the "Okie Okra" is. Please inform how Blue Mist & T Rex Tail (I guess without naming names) relate to the other two. I'm not talking smack, I just want to give the other 2 a hard time with those names. Go INDY
  3. Hey Arlington fans, don't be too concerned with the idiotic musings of the Indy posters. Most of them are high school students & don't know the first thing about football schemes & strategy. As far as "Sarah Palin" posts, well we all know that poster (like the real one) will quit when the going gets tough on Indy. Now to the game, I enjoyed the trip. Your school & facilities are beautiful too. I was surprised that we had a bit more size & about equal speed as you all. I really think the difference was the kickoffs & punting of Foster. The biggest series was the first. Indy held you all to 3 and out & got the ball after a punt just short of midfield. To me, it seemed that IHS had a shorter field to work with most of the game & moved the chains when they had to. Excellent job to the Eagles & their coaching staff. Now lets go out and pay back Franklin.
  4. Hey Sarah Palin, learn how to spell & maybe you could become a threat to win in 2112. Wow, that almost rhymed...as larry David says, "Pretty Good, pretty, pretty, good"
  5. If the Eagles play the way they did against Franklin then they will have no shot at beating Lavergne (or Shirley for that matter)
  6. I am an IHS supporter but I don't see how they played a tougher schedule than FHS so far. Yes on paper it looks tough but all except for one of Indy's wins comes against teams that have losing records (MBA is 4-3) FHS's loss is to #1 Ooltewah. The 2 KY schools are historically 7-4's or 8-3 type teams too & so far Memphis Fairley is 4-3. If IHS can beat a talented Columbia team & a dangerous Lavergne squad (as well as FHS on the 16th) more will become believers in 2009 IHS football.
  7. TSSAA faxed a notice to all high school (and middle school) coaches asking whether or not they are in favor of making the distance change for the upcoming year or waiting until the NFHS mandated year of 2010-2011. Replies are due back by August 3rd.
  8. I didn't know the extent of good coaches leaving FC programs. I know Phil as both a friend & an outstanding coach, John Wild as well. Phil & I spent time as assistants on the football sidelines together at Coffee Co & he was very successful when he was head baseball there. We have kept in touch when we both left Manchester & I know of no other that works as hard to make their program 1st rate. Good luck Phil, enjoy the time away.
  9. Congrats CC on a very good season. In most reginal match-ups it is high quality softball & it is a shame that some good teams don't advance. I know they will bounce back & be the marquee program of their new district. In regard to schedule, they knocked off 11-3A tourney winner Ravenwood during the regular season. Hopefully a former CC assistant can bring his team down to Manchester over the next few years to battle the Lady Raiders as well. Good luck to Chase in baseball, & also RaiderOne & Weave.

I tried Jones and Lang in Columbia & they said they probably won't get some in until mid-late April. Does anyone know of a sports shop in and around Wilco, Davidson, or the Boro that carries them? I can use about 1 dozen to get us through until Jones-Lang gets theirs in. Or is their another ball that TSSAA will allow? An NFHS ball maybe? I greatly appreciate the help. Coach J - Independence HS

  17. I say give it to the duo of George & Kevin Pearson...they both hoop & ball still, & you know with George you'll get some hard-nosed, no-blood, no foul play from the girls. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  18. IHS softball is looking for a scrimmage for either of the following dates... Thursday, February 26th Monday to Thursday of next week, March 2nd - 5th We have to car pool so I would like it to be somewhat local (1/2 hour or so from the Frankiln-Spring Hill area) 4 pm start IHS has 15 varsity players (varsity only) If interested please contact Coach Jezierny clintj@wcs.edu or cell 615-202-9493
  19. Sorry Troy, Independence HS has that weekend as the backend of spring break. Good luck with it and on your season.
  20. My guess for the tie breaker would be the other loss, who it was to. IHS was to Hillsboro by 1. Did CHS beat both FHS & BHS? Maybe who ever finishes in the next spot behind the those tied at the top has a say in how it's played out. BUT their are still two 11-3A games to be played so all this could (and probably will) change by next Friday.

    ACL tears

UConn guard (freshman starter) Caroline Doty just tore her ACL this past Saturday at Syracuse. She also tore it as a junior in high school (on the soccer field though) & did not evenplay hoops as a high school senior. Here's to a full recovery to her. Go UCONN!!!
  23. 2008 Oakland football & Pearl's 1st UT men's hoop team, I assume both didn't have to take the time to teach for learning the fundamentals that made them successful. When the cupboard goes almost bare & the program is limited in numbers (CC lost 3 high scoring & 3 year starters from last season) you have to turn to youth, who as freshmen & sophmores probably aren't to equipped to play in one of the toughest girls districts in the state. They will improve. Good luck CC
