  1. Why do some of you keep referring back to "lets give everyone a medal" scenario? You diminish your argument when you make that kind of ridiculous comparison. A small school tournament will still tough as heck, and everyone doesn't get a medal. Also, russianbear, you contradicted yourself a little by saying multiple division would not produce quality college wrestlers where before you made the argument that our small schools have produced some very tough wrestlers that can compete with large schools. We also argue that good kids get left at home due to tough teams in the same region. Sure some will always argue over who the true champion, but in the grand scheme, more opportunities will become available to more kids which will never be bad for the sport. For the record, we all would love to have fantantic kids clubs but don't have the manpower or maybe the funds.
  2. The girls and their families do you jackwagon. Don't post on this thread if you don't have anything worthy of reading that is pertinent to the postings.

    State A-AA

Central is pretty tough this year, they could win it. Alcoa drilled East Lit. Don't count Hixson out yet. What other teams will make it that may do well?
  6. In a way, they did buy success. Cleveland fans, I don't mean this in a negative way, I mean it in an Im jealous way. They went from having trouble filling some wt classes about 8-10 years back to finishing 2nd in state since Jones started investing the team. Someone correct me if i am wrong. It definitely helps when you can have year round dedicated facilities, paid coaches at all levels, transportation, etc. I would love to provide this for my kids if I could. I could do a lot more with money like pay someone to run an elementary program in my area since I don't have the volunteers - it starts there. I could help poor kids go to camps, etc.
  7. Maybe MikeScott won't mess this up again. Will Hixson be A-AA State Champs again and be in the top 15 of all D1 schools?
  8. What are you doing to ensure that we won't spend two hours adjusting or redoing brackets on Saturday morning thus delaying the tournament? no add-ons on Sat right?
  9. By the way, I think you may be confusing Cumberland High(Nashville) with Cumberland County High(Crossville). Cumberland County split to form Stone Memorial which is where the AAU Big Kids State is being held.
  10. New high school team...yes. We were A-AA region runner-up behind Greenback. I met you a few years back at Kingston. I graduated with Jackie.
  11. With many of us starting our scheduling process, can we start getting a list of tournaments and their dates for next season? Please post.
  12. Well said ETN. RussianBear doesn't really care if the sport grows, he just wants the precious " i'm the greatest in the state" champion. As a coach, I want my sport to grow. Anyone could host a Grand Champion event to satisfy those like russianbear that have to know who the ultimate d2, a-aa, and aaa champion is.
  13. Is Hooper(greenback) wrestling this year?
  14. How do I get info on the girls tournament?
  15. Bloss, while oochies views are somewhat skewed, i don't think he was blasting Coach V. Oochie, so you are saying he needs to add Baylor and McCallie and that would do it. Maybe you should get with Coach Hall to help him make the schedule next year. Getting the "right" teams scheduled is not an easy process. You ever done it? Since you seem to be so close to the Hixson crowd, why didn't you make your suggestions straight to Coach Hall instead of voicing your "concerns" on an anonymous forum?
  16. Oochie, As a former Hixson wrestler under Vandergriff and coach of another team, I take offense at your comments. Coach Hall tried to get many teams to come and many had other plans. He then arranged the pools to please the coaches that were there, not himself. Hixson has beaten Soddy and Ooltewah and they have Bradley coming up next. What more do you want from them? If you are just looking for a reason to bash Hixson, maybe you find some toys to go play with in your room.
  17. Annual budget needed with only two overnighters and very limited new apparel is about $4000-4500. Could do it for less but would have to cut price on awards, saturday meals, banquet stuff. Amount supplied by school system is $250.
  18. I didn't know there were 2 seconds left.
  19. Halls MLK Tournament (Jan 28) has had girls several times. It should be a qualifier.
  20. What are the dates on Soddy and Science Hill for girls?
  21. I believe ND and East Lit had a good number of seniors last year. I heard Greenback may have lost some big guns for reasons other than graduation, is this true?
  22. Who has a chance this year, Greenback, Notre Dame, East Lit, Mont Central? Any big line-up changes with these teams?
  23. How is Greenback going to fair without Coach Ridge this year?
  24. Did they fall apart after Hixson?
