  1. I talked to coach Dotson and he said he would be back for sure. Slatten is also staying. I think they're both doing a good job with what they have. I've seen Slatten coach in many different places, and if you give him time and the players believe in his system then he will win. If the players don't believe in your system then no one will win. I've been in this situation this year, and our team didn't accomplish what it was capable of. Slatten is a tough coach, but he knows what he's doing. Just give him some talent and he can win with it. Some people will say that you should be able to win no matter what, but it's hard to win in AAA with no talent. Seth England did a great job this year, but that was about the only talent they had.
  2. I talked to someone back home and found out that this is the 23rd trip for PC according to the shirts that were printed for this trip. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Go Vikings and good luck to Summertown. Represent district 12A well.
  3. Does anyone know exactly how many appearances this makes for PC in the state tourney? I know it's at least 22, but i've heard a few different numbers. I know that we hold the record for most appearances but I'm not sure how many it is. At the Sectional game someone said it was 23 or 24. If anyone knows I would appreciate it. Thanks. GO Vikings.
  4. Tennessee Tech usually has a summer camp during July where they invite middle school teams. I'm not sure about the dates yet, but you can find them at www.tntech.edu/athletics go to men's basketball and there should be a camp option on the left side if you scroll down some. Tech has one of the best team camps in the southeast according to a lot of coaches that I have talked with. We have teams that come from TN, KY, GA, and FL just to mention a few. I would definitely look into this if I was interested in a good camp.
  5. Thanks for the info warrior. Hopefully I'll get to come down and catch another game this year. I may actually try to make it down for the game next Tuesday against Cookeville. Even though I'm not from the area I love watching those two schools play even though the rivalry isn't as great as it used to be. Once again thanks for the info and Go Warriors.
  6. Does anyone know what grade Natalee Anderson is in? I really enjoy watching her play b/c she always seems to be around the ball and she's always hustling. I think she's a Junior which means I have at least another year to watch. Any info would be appreciated.
  7. Well from looking at the fan poll I wouldn't say our district is down. We have 4 teams ranked in the top 20. Perry County is ranked #1 in the state in single a. CA is down this year but I'm not sure about the rest of the district.
  8. I really hope they make it to the boro this year. I work with the mens team at Tennessee Tech and that would be one of the few times I would get to watch them play. I know most of the guys on the team b/c I used to ref their games when they were younger. From what I hear they are playing really well and I hope they continue that strong tradition of PC basketball. Thanks for the replies.
  9. Anyone on here know anything about how they're looking so far this year? I know they have a 9-1 record, but I would like to know who is playing well and how good everyone on here thinks they really are. I'm from there and worked with the teams from 96-99. Any comments would be appreciated.
  10. Yes Slatten had a very talented team in 97 when Perry Co won the state. As stated in an earlier post, we beat Union City who went on to win the AA state. We also won a tourney in Lawrenceburg. Lawrence Co is a AAA school and we beat them twice on their home floor to win the tourney. We also drilled Chester Co who is an AA school. Out of those 37 wins, if you take away the district games and tourney games none of them were against A schools. And Kirk isn't the only reason we were winning. The year after he left we still went 28-5. So for you that think just one player does it look at that stat. I was there with Slatten for 3 years and during those three years we went 95-8. That's pretty impressive for any coach to say. We won one state champ. and were runner up one year. Slatten took over the Perry Co. team and led it to 5 straight State tourneys. The first of those was without Haston. I'm from Perry Co and you can take these comments however you want, but you should know all the facts before you start talking about something you know nothing about.
  11. I was told the reason was b/c the motor had burned out and they wouldn't move the bleachers out like they were supposed to.
  12. Slatten is a great coach, and if the people in Sparta will get adjusted to him and give him a chance, he'll prove it. You can't be the best team in the state every year. I know that you got used to that while Jolly and Walker were there, but everyone has down years. With another Jolly coming thru soon though you can look forward to brighter days. Slatten has a very young team this year and if they will listen to him and add the talent coming in next year they will be a tough team to handle. I look forward to watching Slatten's teams play b/c he always has them playing hard.
  13. The Volunteer coaches are great. I got to meet them this summer and hang out with them. I wish them all the luck this season.
  14. Congrats to my Vikings on a big win. I would love to see them carry on the rich tradition that has been in PC for a long time. And I'd like to say good luck to Wayne Co. Friday night, because CA is the main team that I don't like in our district. Good luck to all the teams in the district and let's have a competitive year. But most of all GO Vikings.
