Speas at DC I believe that was a brilliant move. He was Stevens DC at AE when they won it all. And as a staff they put together the only defense to shut out Riverdale since 1993. Say what you want but Rob Speas as a DC was a good move.

The kids at LaVergne had a good year reguardless of who they beat because those same teams are the ones that beat them last year. Siegel, Blackman, Oakland, and Lebanon all beat the Wolverines last year and those loses were avenged this year. They were picked last in the region by the region coaches. And battled their way to 4th. Cat I will give you props Smyrna beat LaVergne, They sure did. Riverdale also beat LaVergne 28-20, That same Riverdale team beat Smyrna 51-20 Wilson Central beat LaVergne 19-14, That same Wilson Central team beat Smyrna 38-14. Hey Cat, goodluck this week against Riverdale and remember Coach Shad said your team isn't young anymore they have played 11 games. So don't use that one anymore.

Rick I am on your side but you ar incorrect here is how the region four -5a playoff deal falls. If Wilson central wins they are 2 Smyrna is 3 and LaVergne is 4. If LaVergne wins then there is a 3 way tie for second with LaVergne,Wilson Central, and smyrna at 5-2 in the region. The first tie breaker in a three way tie is overall record. Smyrna would be 6-4, Central would be 8-2, LaVergne would be 8-2. SMyrna would be fourth, Then it goes to head to head and LaVergne would be 2nd and Central would be 3rd. There is no way LaVergne can be 3rd. They are 2nd with a win or 4th with a loss. Central is 2nd with a win and 3rd with a loss. And Smyrna doesn't control their own destiny.

As of Saturday, there was not much to report other than they were not going to have to put rods in stabilize his injuries to his arm. They are going to let those heal on their own. Still has swelling on the brain and is still in the induced coma state. They have let him come out of the coma state for very short periods of time only to have to put him right back in. Just continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers his teammates and coaches will do the same.

Siegel Freshman Teddy Vellef was involved in a car accicent this morning. He is in the trauma unit of Vanderbilt Hospital. He will undergo a procedure in the morning to relieve swelling on his brain. Please join all of his teamates and coaches in praying for him.

Rob Speas, former defensive coordinator at AE when they won the championship, he is currently at Oak Ridge as an assistant. He is a disciple of John Chavous and will be a great Head Coach.

The paper makes it appear Coach Price went for two after being up 48-19 with under a minute to go. If this is the case, some example of sportsmanship he is setting for his kids. I guess he thought Siegel might could come back.

There is a free clinic being held Sunday from 2 to 4 at the Bellevue Sams Wholesale club on Old Hickory Blvd. It is being put on to promote some books that were written and Published by the NFL Coaches Association. Coach Henshaw of the Tennessee Titans is the key Note speaker. Some of the Titans players are scheduled to attend. They are trying to make it a family atmosphere so bring out the kids and let them mingle with some NFL players.

These are the teams LaVergne plays. I am not sure about the order. MBA Oakland Ravenwood Siegel Riverdale Blackman Smyrna Lebanon Wilson Central another non region team LaVergne has a good nucleus of players returning, They are changing their offensive and defensive schemes to suit their talent better. They will be well coached and will never quit. It is hard to say how good they will be. It depends on how players step it up.

FHSTE84, I don't know what to tell you. A committee looks at the coaches nominations from their school and selects the team. If your coach nominated the players I can't explain why they were not selected. I agree Franklin had a great season. I am not sure who is on that committee it may be the coaches who are going to coach the team that year.

The coaches at their school have to nominate the players in order for them to make the team. You may want to start there when you call things ridiculous. Kinda like Ed Mayes no making all region but being all state.

If Hibdon goes to Siegel he will teach Driver's ed there as well. As of this past week Missy was going to stay and teach. That is tough for whoever gets the job.

The Teaching position for Willey and Hibdon is the one and the same, Driver's Ed. Both are certified in that area and they will have an opening in that area. Both are good coaches! My gut feeling says Willey!

There are more than two players from Riverdale's team playing and there are two from LaVergne playing as well Grimes and somebody else.

David Watson and Edd Caudill the two best zone blocking coaches in Middle TN. Both coach athletes that are not quite as physical as other coaches do but get more out of them.

Region4fan: From all indications after they registered the kids at those school they took the teachers that had to be transfered. Then after that all other positions are new hire postions. Siegel High School still has 26 positons to fill as of the the article in the DNJ the other day. I don't believe those will be filled until after the budget for next year is passed.
