  1. Perry County 95-96 was beat in the finals by Boyd-Buchanan. I'm not suggesting that this BBS team is one of the best state champions of class A, but I have to disagree with the Perry County nomination for that year. PC did, however win the title in 96-97 (I think). They had 6-10 Kirk Haston who went on to Indiana, then the Char. Hornets.

  3. From what it sounds like, this will be a great game. I fully expect the Warriors to be prepared. However, the Bucs are playing their best at the perfect time...the play-offs. I expect this one to be close. Look for the team that scores first to win. From what I've seen this year (and I could be wrong), BBS has played well and with a lot of confidence when they have an early lead. Also, turnovers will be a huge part of the game. If we can limit turnovers, I give the edge to BBS (its not rocket science). The Warriors will play hard and will have a solid gameplan coming from their good coaching staff. But, I'm also going to give a lot of credit to the BBS coaching staff. They've had our Bucs playing well all year. I also think that the home field advantage is going to be too much to overcome. But, I do have a question for my BBS people. Why was there no crowd last week? It reminded me of the late 80's and early 90's crowds. We need to fill the stadium and cheer on our Bucs to victory!   4. Feel free to disagree with anything you like. The only thing I had a question about was the fumble. To me, there's a difference between having a question about something and making a negative comment, or "bashing" players. That was not my intention. I had nothing to say about the linemen at all. As a graduate of BBS and a former student athlete, I believe I have some credibility here. I know the players personally and know their abilities and attitudes. Look at the end of my previous quote. I gave credit to the team for fighting their way back at the end. I have full confidence that our Bucs will win Friday night. To question my support for the team is a bit ridiculous. Chances are, I've been associated with the school much longer than you. This is beside the point, however. This is not a spitting contest. Let's at least agree that our guys will be ready for Friday and we'll be going on to the next round. Go Bucs!!! BBS - 28 DCA - 12
  5. I had to watch the game on tv. I wonder if anyone else shares your opinion, though. The play you're referring to, where there was a fumble, I must say that I'm inclined to agree with you in that there could have been more effort given. However, there was plenty of effort given towards the end of the game on the comeback attempt...and I must ask.... what # O lineman are you referring to?

  7. congrats to tyner. they eeked out a sloppy win. but, a win is a win. both team didn't show their best performance. i just hope the bucs can work out their lack of execution before next friday. its a bad time in the season to play so poorly. give credit to the rams, though. their qb is very athletic and was tough to bring down. also, give credit to the bucs. they didn't give up and played hard to the end. i thought the play of the game was the brett favre-like underhanded flip pass by hughes to keep the drive alive for the bucs. i feel like these teams will meet again in a few weeks. good luck to both.
  8. as stated before, i think this will be a great game. both teams are solid in most phases of the game. i see this game coming down to special teams performance. i also give the slight edge to BBS, as its a home game. BBS - 10 Tyner - 8

  10. ...a very good post. you list several factors that can eastly be collated into a winning program. the funny thing is that this arguement eerily sounds like arguements that defend the small private schools in D1. my point is that, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, much of the arguement made by publics for a complete split seems to be hypocritical. how can you not see that there are several public schools that operate with the very same methods that some small privates use, especially with regards to open enrollment? imo, there's just too many holes in this line of arguement...

  14. i think its just too early to say, although i hope they are "the real deal." from what i understand, the season really falls on several things, most of which is qb play. hughes is capable, but untested. the defense looks strong. i'm not sure about special teams. they'll surely miss the kicker, bowen. i'd say that if they can establish a solid tandem at rb with beasley and gilley, that will help offset the passing of hughes, and the offense will be formidable. all of that to say again, i think its just too early to say. i hope they do well and keep away from injury.
