  1. Good Job Lady Buffaloes on a wonderful win. Don't know if I can take much more. Good Luck for the rest of the way. CCS was an excellent team with a lot of talent. The fans were excellent and very sportsmanlike. The best of luck to CCS. Sure would hate to be in their path next year.
  2. P.S. You obviously earned your degree at Celina or you are about 6 years old.
  3. Dawg05 - your brain is probably as big as the one in the picture by your name. #5 was not cussing anyone and 51 did intentionally throw an elbow and there is film to prove it. Also there was cursing, not at #00 but our point guard #53 from the crowd. It is different to give the coach and fans a hard time, but when it comes to someone's child, you are crossing the line. Get your facts right before you get on here and run your mouth. I don't recall her taunting after hitting 1 of 2 free throws, not that type of player. Like I said earlier blinded celina fans. Once again out of 30 games #5 lost her emotions for 10 seconds, and rightfully so. I agree with 25, you need to let this fire burn out.
  4. I have two statements: One from me and the other from #5 father. First of all celina did outplay Clarkrange last night. They shot 25% and Snow could not hit anything and neither could anyone else. And to onthego and kell44, maybe you ought to have watched the game better. First of all #51 had already threw a cheap elbow the play before that had hit #5 in the chin and she played through it, then the next play she threw a flagrant elbow that was away from the ball, and intentionally hit her in the mouth again. #51 had the intent to hurt her and it was very clear. She lost her cool for a moment, but she did a whole lot better than I would have done or anyone else. She continued playing and never retailated. At least she doesn't show that attitude the whole game like some of Celina players do. #5 is an unselfish team player who puts in a lot of extra time and tries to give her team every chance she can to win. She does not jaw at the officials, her own players, the coach or anyone else. My advice is for you to keep your opinions to yourself if you have not seen more than one game or you are a blinded celina fan. As for Coach Rogers talking to the crowd. It takes a big man and I mean big, to call a sophomore in highschool a little b**** and say bad things to them. The crowd also cursed at the Clarkrange's cheerleaders as they entered the gym. A cop asked if Coach Rogers wanted them threw out, but he said to let it go. Like we said, a whole lot of class. I don't remember anybody talking to your girls like that. Enough said, just hope they get a chance at a tie breaker at state. Clarkrange had the opportunity to win reagardless, but you could see that the refs obviously called for celina in both games last night. Everytime Clarkrange made a play that shifted momentum the refs broke it with a bad call or flurry of bad calls. post season officating to that point was normal, but it was obvious that it made a tremendous dip during those games. To the refs, I hope they catch this, you are there to call the game by the rules, you are supposed to be emotional detached from the crowd, the coaches and the players and call the game correctly with out emotion. How often do you see officials run from the court after the game. They knew that they had called this game unfairly. I had not see any other officials do that all year. No excuses 25% shooting and lose by three, opportunity was there all game. "This statement is from an ex-coach whose daughter was involved in this elbow incident. He agrees that Clarkrange had the opportunity to win and was outplayed by Celina. On the flip side, Celina is the dirtiest team he has ever seen play, they throw flargrant elbows throughout the game, they say insulting things to players on the floor as well. They have no sportsmanship either on the team or in the stands. And to anyone who has anything bad to say about his daughter or her sportsmanship to come on up and see him. He wanted me to sign his name so you know who to go to." Steve Ramsey
  5. I have to agree with watchemball about the class of Celina. I have never seen a crowd so disrespectful to players and fans in a long time. They booed Clarkrange during introductions and made vulgar comments during the game and afterwards. And the signs didn't just float over across the gym, they had speed and intent. Also great class in the last few minutes when Coach Rogers put his bench in and Celina left their starters in and kept on the pressure. And the last second shot with time running out, great class. As for sam4vol I don't know where you seen that Clarkrange was classless during presentations. They just sat there and listened. I didn't realize that Celina had ever won the district before, much less five in a row, by the way they acted. Rolling around on the floor, hitting the floor, yelling and screaming. I thought they had won the State Championship. I ready for the nets to get cut down. Celina definitely beat Clarkrange in every category tonight but one, thats class. Now back to basketball. Clarkrange shot around 25% and Celina around 56%. Clarkrange simply got outplayed and their shooters were way off. Good luck to both teams. Just remember there is a lot of season left. Save the celebrations for later.
  6. Score was Clarkrange 71, Red Boiling 36
  7. I am in the community and know coach Pile and have only been to a few ball games. From what I gather is that there is so much negativity going on at home through the parents, that it is pretty difficult for coach Pile to keep the attitudes positive. Where Coach pile is lacking, is when all the parents came in to his office with their sons playing times written down to the second, is putting foot to bottom side and letting them know that if that is there concern then they should just stay away completely. If I am not mistaken this is the sort of thing that got Coach Pile the head coach job there in the first place. Coach Pile: Take this advice - Parents are going to try and hang you no matter what, quit trying to please them, if you going to catch all the heck you are catching, do it your way. If you lose like that there are no regretts. By the way, there is some talent there, not great talent, but talent that if it can be harnessed that they could win some ball games. they looked as if at cannon he may be starting to do things his way anyway. Good luck to Coach Pile and to the players. To the players: practice hard, work as a team, and play hard and start listening to the coach and not mom and dad and good things will happen as the season progresses.
  8. Until you have a legit point stay off the boards. When I say go to a game I wasn't talking about socializing at the game. I mean actually watch a game. 13 points means nothing when the game has already been decided. Nothing against 42, but 35 deserves what she is getting, and the more I watch the more she looks like she is not going to give up her opportunity. Upchurch is developing and will eventually be a really big player for them, but in the meantime stay off of 35, because she is helping the team when she is in there. Enough said.
  9. #35 does the little things in the game that helps them win. She gets rebounds, good shot %, o.k. defense, and she does not shoot them out of a game. I have absolutely nothing against anyone and the upchurch girl definitely helps on defense. Obviously you need to watch more of the games.
  10. I apologize but this is going to be long winded. Hopefully it will be worth reading. Twocan probably needs a little bashing for their comments. Back to some of the other posts I have seen talking bad about anybody on that team: Ross girls, or the Brown girl. People are talking about why the guards are not taking shots. That is the main problem. That is not only Browns problem in some of these games but also the teams. The way I understand one of the Ross girls are shooting about 55% (pretty reliable) from the three. But does not have the go ahead to take the shot in rhythm. This hurts not only the team but Brown also. One Ross was scolded for shooting a three and hitting it (she was 2 of 3 that game) because there was not enough passes made. Against Jackson Co. she attempted one shot and not because of defense. Does what she is told. Can't scold her for that, you have to praise a shooter who is told not to shoot and doesn't. It would be tough for me. Tate, the other guard, had the go ahead and attempted 11 shots hitting 2. On the year she is about 35-45 from the field. The Asberry girl also has a good shot. I'm not for sure on %, but it is real high also. Very few attempts. Now the offensive philsophy is not bad except for not allowing the other shooters to shoot. As for the other Ross girl. The Ross girl is a great rebounder and defender. Either Ross girl would give Hensley a handful, as she did in the second half against Jackson Co., for those who actually watched the game. But she needs finish on the easy buckets. She is missing a lot of buckets that she should be making. This is a must for York to climb to the next level. As for Brown, absolutely great potential. She is a mediocore defender. Has been preached offense so much her defense is lagging. She will improve in that area, but needs to be a focus. Hint do not put your best offense player defending the other teams best offensive player, especially when you have others who defend better right now. Now I have seen her have some bad offensive games, partly her fault and partly offensive strategy. Brandy is a natural shooter and passer. Her passing game is being taken away by the offensive philosophy. Every body is telling her to shoot, shoot, shoot. So now they are forcing her to take shoots in double and triple teams. Her shot selection is so much more difficult. Why defend anybody but her if nobody outside is allowed to shoot. They need to be allowed to play ball, they are overcoached in philosophy. Let players play. Because of the double and triple teams Brown is now taking fade aways instead of those sweet jumpshots and leaners that not only draw fouls but squares her up and gets her % up. The key to York right now in how teams are playing them, is rather Qualls can stay out of foul trouble or not. When she is in they can not concentrate on just Brown. She can now stay out of double teams and drive and pass to Qualls and Ross on the inside. The guards also did a tremendous job in having only 2 turnovers against Jackson Co. York still has the Herren girl who can help on both sides of the ball. I promise that York will not shoot 25% many times this year. Do not look for that to happen often. The potential of a great team. Everything just needs to come together and open up. Good luck York, keep playing hard.
  11. I hate to say it , but the way york is playing in preseason they'll be lucky to come in fourth maybe fifth. The chemistry on this team is terrible. Their offense does not include all players on the floor. The guards do not have the freedom to shoot the ball if they are open and they can't handle the ball up court. Early on it looks as if they have taken about two to three steps backwards. I can only hope that they improve and make a fool out of me for making this statement. But I doubt it. Clarkrange beat them by 16 or 17. York did not have a field goal in the second half, only 5 free throws.
  12. I am not familiar with what is going on here. But is it possible that Coach Seals is acting interim coach because maybe he doesn't want the head coach job, just making sure the program is running until a new head coach comes in. Some coaches would rather coach under a good head coach than be one. Just a thought when I first seen the thread. not trying to ruffle any feathers.

    DEAD PERIOD

I was at a job that when basketball season was over the mulisport players came to weight training, plometrics and agilities. We did no specific sport activities. No play running or throwing football or anything of that nature. About a week into them coming over, the basketball coach came over and demanded that he have them for at least three days a week to work on shooting skills. He said that we were specifically training them for football. I tried to convince him that making the players more explosive and stronger would have as much an effect in basketball as football. He refused to believe so. Anyway, my point to the story, every high school needs to hire a strength and conditioning coach who is involved in all sports. They need to run the off season workouts. That way the schedule around seasons and during seasons. Players would benefit more and so would teams.
  14. York's freshmen class is loaded. Only 3 of them were really seen this year. Brandi Brown, Kristen Ross, and Bethany Ross. They are much deeper on the roster than that with good freshmen. They played Livingston close in the district tournament (losing by two). They also gave Jackson County a run for their money a couple of times, coming up short. With experience and hopefully the team coming together better than they did this year, realizing what opportunities they have in front of them, they will be at the top.
  15. She is unbelievable for a freshman. She is around 6'2". Great body control for someone that tall that young. Can handle the ball very well (brings the ball down the court often). Can absolutely shoot the lights out. Has a very high percentage. Great free throw shooter. When this girl learns to react better on defense, and becomes an aggressive rebounder she will defenitely be looking for that MVP. I hope that the COACHES can get that out of her. If they utilize all the talent that surrounds her. The Ross girls, Potter, Tate, England, Allred, and get the juniors all on the same page (there is alot of talent in that junior class also), there is a couple of gold bballs in their future. Good Luck girls.
  16. Final score doesn't indicate how good of a game it was. Experience definitely won this one. There were several big shots made from people who usually don't contribute point wise on both teams. Jackson out boarded Yorkon offensive boards which definitely was a key factor. York will definitely be a team to watch in the future. The refs didn't really effect the outcome. But I have watched several games in the region and they are gonna get somebody hurt if they don't at least make the obvious calls. Macon and Livingston game was unreal. Most physical high school girls game I have seen. Good luck district 7-aa.
  17. The reason shot clocks are used in college and AAU is because the fundamentals of all players are supposed to be at a much higher level on the whole. Obviously college more than AAU. But in respect, higher on a whole. Highschool teams on a whole don't always have that luxury. Not every school can have a team that is able to set up a get good looks as quickly. They have to take more time to get good shots. They sometimes don't have 3, 4, or 5 players that can all score successfully, and have to work their offenses to get their 1 or 2 shooters open for good shots. I feel there is already enough bad shots taken as a whole, good or bad teams. I agree that these stall games are tremendously boring. That is what trap defenses are for and 5 second calls.
  18. Livingston and Jackson will both be very hard to beat. Right now York is looking to be a sleeper. They lost to Livingston tonight by 2 and Jackson the other night by 6(I think). If they get overlooked someone could get upset. They also have three freshmen starting and playing most of the minutes. It will be fun to watch the regions regardless. Good luck everyone.
  19. I believe that it would cause more mistakes on offense. They would start trying to rush their offense. I watched a game tonight where the offense would run and the defense would do a great job defending. The offense would then reset and keep trying to run their plays. I would rather see this than to see an offense be patient and work for a good shot, then have to force up an ugly shot because of a shot clock. If a team is patient enough and disciplined enough to try to work their offense to have an open look, let the defense defend it. I do agree that the freeze game isn't very fun to watch. That is what the 5 second call is for and the trap defense.
