Side note - Sr. QB/Safety Chase Stephens of Clay County had 5 interceptions in this game. Would have been 6 if not for one being called back due to a defensive penalty. I guess it was time since he has given so many...... sorry Chase.

For the record - Pickett was scheduled because Clay County needed a game. Jackson Co. was the original thought but that didn't work out due to region games. An attempt was made to find some other varsity program, but that was also the time the program was in limbo (no coach had been hired). The contact was never signed with Pickett for what it is worth.

Does anyone know of any good day/overnight football camps for kids in the 8-12 year old range? It would need to stress fundamental skills (i.e. quarterback/receiver). Thanks in advance.
  5. Clay County High School is looking for a week 3 or week 0 game. It needs to be in Celina first due to the schedule. Please contact Principal Brenda Kirby at (931)243-2340. [Edited by fish on 11-15-02 10:15A]
  6. You're right on the money about the "Field of Dreams" approach to the new school (If you build it - they will come). I understand the politics associated with this, but several schools in the area (Monroe Co. KY, Livingston, etc) swallowed up smaller schools in their counties and told everyone to deal with it. After a period of resentment, everything worked out. I doubt any of these people would go back to the way things were. If Hermitage Springs loses 20-25 students from their high school (out of 125) they would cease to exist. Hopefully, all of those students would come to the new county school. With the issue of state/county taxes being what they are, it only makes sense to fund one school in the county - especially when they are as small as they are.
