  1. SLS, I'd have to say Seyerle is MVP for 11AA just because she contributes so many ways and provides what is needed by her team many times, whether it be a score, a pass or a rebound. She also draws the tough defensive assignment many times. Poston put up great numbers. Trull gets your attention because she can create a shot and score so quickly from anywhere on the court. She is exciting and scary if you're pulling for Milan against McKenzie. Trull and Crawley complement each other well. That's why I'm surprised that McKenzie didn't win more. Related topic - who is the best AA girl you have seen? I'm thinking Miss Basketball AA. The players that seem most impressive from this area appear to be: Bianca Thomas - Chester Co. Kaitlin Dudley - Gibson Co. LaToya Bellamy - Westview Ashley Hayes - Humboldt Jessica Graves - Humboldt In Class A, I have to give some props to Jessica Bobbitt for the defense that she can contribute. It doesn't produce numbers, but it seems to produce results for Trenton.
  2. SLS, they are both outstanding players for their respective teams, but you couldn't give that award to Anna this year after McKenzie underachieved against the district teams, could you? I'd think that Milan's 8-0 record would be a factor. The Lady Dogs will need to defend in their opening district tournament game, especially if it is against McKenzie's Trull and Crawley.
  3. Hayes and Graves have been incredible together, a near perfect complement to one another in their playing styles. With all of their playing experience, they gained tremendous confidence as their careers progressed. Humboldt could be down 10 points with two minutes to go and Hayes and Graves would show absolute confidence that they could rally to win. We saw it time and time again against Milan. They are both right on the cusp of being Miss Basketball candidates. Either would make a worthy representative. I have great respect for them as competitors and wish them the best at MTSU.
  4. My take - Mack Gardner played a brilliant game at point in Lexington's 70-57 win over Milan at Milan. He drove the lane for scores, dished passes when he wasn't open, drew fouls and made free throws. His teammates were in great position for passes and they converted them into scores. You could argue that Milan doesn't have a true "point guard." But Henry Adkisson is giving his best effort to fill the role. He is averaging about 4 assists a game. He also leads the team in steals. He is only hitting about 17% from 3-point range, however, 11-of-64.
  5. Regional for 12AA and 11AA is at Chester County Feb. 25
  6. Class A Bradford has produced five Miss Basketball winners: Michelle Street (All - American NAIA at Union), Tonya Tuggles (Union), Jessica Henson (All-American NAIA at Union), Jenny Lannom (currently UTM), and Merideth Richardson (senior at Bradford 2003-04).

  8. Mitchell won 98-92 at Memphis. Mithcell scored 39 points in the second quarter and led by 26 points with 6:40 left in the game. But Trenton outscored them 35-19 in the fourth period and pulled within 4 points before losing. Trenton's losses have come to 2A Humboldt (2), Milan (2), and 1A S. Fulton and Mitchell. Trenton won the first game against Mitchell 71-70 on a free throw by John McCullar.
  9. It's worth remembering that last season Gibson County lost to Westview three times. And every game was one that probably had Lady Pioneers thinking "woulda, shoulda, coulda." Westview 57-Gibson Co. 50; Westview 37, GC 32; Westview 52, GC 49 in the district championship. This year's GC seniors (and Mr. Russell) will no doubt remember those losses and use them for motivation. Gibson County has played some tough, close games against Trenton, and that could help the Lady Pioneers in this matchup. Westview vs. Trenton would also be interesting.
  10. Does anybody know the score or result of the Camden vs. Dresden boys on Jan. 6???
