  1. Always so much hostility towards Central. I guess I would be too if I wasn't good enough to play at a school. It must have been tough seeing Baron and the boys going to the state. If only Coach Warren could see the awesome work you have done in AAU maybe he would have let you keep stats or something.
  2. There is definitely no one jealous of your grammar.
  3. Don't say anything too bad to him though because he umps baseball in the Big 9!
  4. I guess you have Coty "Sinsiball" at number 6 since it will be hard for him to score many points in the Big 9 from Clemson.
  5. Yeah I heard Paul Overbay on there tonight too. Why is Tom Taylor not doing the games? Is it health or something? He has a great and distinctive voice. I am also interested to hear what all happened at East tonight? Heard that Issac fouled out.
  6. I'll jump in /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I don't really know what the discussion is on Flack but I will say that Bronson will more than likely play college ball if he wants to. FSU, probably not, but he will go somewhere. When he goes to these camps and they see he 6'9, can dribble and has a nice touch around the basket and a little beyond, they are not going to care about his high school stats. Someone is going to give him a shot. As for the argument that this year's DB team is better than the 02-03 team, I will have to agree that the 02-03 team is better. Someone put the starting lineup for that team on here and while that was pretty impressive you also have to remember that they had Seth Jervis (who played at Milligan) and Lamon Williams (a great athlete). Plus the fact that Thomas Harrison may have been the best player to play in this area in the last 7 or 8 years. I mean, if you put the 2 teams head to head, who would be able to guard Harrison? I also don't think that this years DB team has a guy who could handle the ball as well as Azmar could either.
  7. I wish I had the last 15 seconds of my life back. That was one of the most pointless rambles I have ever read. Your comments are not based on what you have seen or heard from his former players. Your comments are based on something personal. His team has probably beaten a team you have coached since you decided to enlighten us that you are in the "coaching ranks". There are actually plays and offenses that Jared has brought into this area that high school coaches use. I would also like to see Harrison at Central helping out but it is also nice having him and Coach Fox in the middle schools.
  8. How about an elementary school grammar book? Do you have one of those laying around? My guess is no.
  9. And on a side not I hope that East has a very good season and wins the rest of the game they play this year (except for us). I got to see them play against TN High and rooted for them the whole time. I have especially been rooting for Dylan and Isaac since my brother has played with and against them since they were in pee wees. I also hope that Jordan Cross has a great season/career. I don't want to come of like that. My only problem is that I don't think it is fair to the other guys who are the top players to put him up there with them right now.
  10. It was a good game. I think he had 16. But we are having the same problem that we had last year with Hess. We have trouble getting the ball to the guy(s) who need it in crunch time. The good thing is I think we are improving every time we play. But unfortunately for these seniors I don't think they are going to see any of the benefits til next year. East did not play average tonight, Isaac did. Some of the other East players had career nights. Don't try to make it look like East played a bad game and somehow snuck away with one because it was not like that. Both teams played pretty well except Isaac didn't have the 30 some points like he did against TN High (although I am pretty sure he still had around 20). Big9Ball, you are obviously related to the kid or are friends with him and if you want to talk him up that is fine, but ask yourself this, was he one of the top 5 players on the court tonight? I think it is obvious that the answer is no. But I think you have somehow taken my comment about him not being a factor and stretched it to me saying he is no good which is not what I said and also not what I think. I think he is playing well for a freshman, but he is definitely not one of the top players in the area this year like you have stated numerous times in your post.
  11. BlackJoke54, how do you know what the Central fans are like on here? I am guessing you are one of the people like Cap1 who make ridiculous statements, get blasted, then have to come back on here under a different name. And are you actually saying that Holston Middle's coach, Jared Harrison, is not very good? The same guy who played at Campbell college the year they made it to the NCAA tournament and was one of the best players to ever come through this area? Jared has had plenty of chances to coach at other schools but has turned them down. For you to make a statement like shows how little you know. I have played for both Jared and Coach Fox and while I think Coach Fox is a great motivator, Coach Harrison is on a different level when it comes to middle school coaches. My advice BlackJoke54, quit making ridiculous comments like how the Cross boy from East is going to be one of the better players in the conference this year (he is at least a year away from being a factor) or start trying to come up with another terrible nickname on here. As for Central, it obviously doesn't look like we are going to win the conference this year. We are not as bad as the scores againist SH an DB have been though. We just have too many young guys who have to play too much. All the coaches know that we only have 3 guys who played any varsity minutes last year so they have keyed on them pretty hard. We are not DB and SH who can just reload every year from the JV, we played a lot of seniors last year because it gave us the best chance to win then, now it is hurting us. As a coach that is a sacrifice you have to make sometimes. I still think we have 2 of the better players in the conference with J-Rock and Kaiko and I think once the younger guys learn to not quit when the first few minutes of the game don't go their way then we will be ok. I have seen almost every team in the conference and I think it is pretty clear that DB and SH are way better than everyone else.
  12. I highly doubt that you will talk like this in person. I have seen you, you are better of talking trash on this board behind your 30 different screen names.
  13. The question was what teams have the best home court advantage, not which teams have the "classiest" fans. If you are going on how much of an impact the fans play in the game then two of the top places that are tough to play are Science Hill and Sullivan Central, no place else really compares (last time Sullivan Central played at SH they actually did the "white out"). If you are talking about the gyms themselves making a difference then it is Sullivan East and TN High. East because there is so much room behind the baskets it makes it tough for visiting opponents to judge their shots and TN High because it is such a big place that it is hard to fill it up and it makes for almost a "scrimmage" type atmosphere if you are not used to it. You mentioned Gate City and it is a tough place to play, but it is not in East TN. As for Boone, they don't have much of a fan section. Central has more students running around in the halls than Boone has in their entire student section.
  14. I was referring to you not knowing that Moncier was Boone's best player and one of the best players in the conference last year, not the jamboree. But I forgot that if a player doesn't play for either SH, DB or TN High that you don't think they are any good. Maybe if he would have tried out for your great AAU team you would have remembered him. By the way are you still running that clown show or can't you get anymore Blountville Middle players to make up for your guys? Sorry to burst your bubble but Vikingfan33 is not me. Going under different names is your game, I don't want to knock your hustle /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  15. Do you even watch the games? Boone's best player by far is Blake Moncier. He was one of the best players in the conference last year. So I would say that Click does have some help. New year, same Cap1/Cougarfan22/1tshelley.
  16. Are the only people posting on this thread parents of DB's JV team from last year? You people are naming off players that nobody has ever heard of. But not only that, you are saying they should start over Sylvester or Edwards?!? Get real. Just because those kids played good during a JV game which is attended by about 30 people made up of a few parents, kids who missed the bus and old people who got tired of watching Mama's House doesn't mean anything. Lets see how they do with crowds like Central and Science Hill riding them the whole game and see how they perform. In my opinion the conference is even more wide open than it was last year. People want to talk SH and DB up but really they are just going on JV games, summer games and talent that they think they have. People forget DB was mediocre at best last year without Sensabaugh and that was with Throp, so really how good are they going to be without both of them? Same thing with SH, who outside of Omar was a consistent player for them? Lets see how good SH will be without Omar their to bail them out when they can't get anything going. SH and DB may very well be the best 2 teams, who knows, because like I said there are a lot of unproven players in the conference this year and a lot of new faces for every team. Here are some players to watch and a quick analysis of each team from my perspective: Boone (Moncier, Click / Boone played a lot of teams tough last year and a lot of it was because of Moncier almost all by himself. If a few other players step up they could finish high.) Central (Josh Kaiko, Jason Rock, Patrick Albright / Lost a ton of seniors from last year and one of the leagues best in Hess. While they don't have any returning starters back they have Roberts, Rock and Kaiko who all seemed to play well in big games like SH and DB. Depth could be a problem until some solid young players step up.) Crockett (I have no idea what Crockett has for this year.) DB (Sylvester, Edwards, McConnell / Lost 2 of the areas best from last year but have a ton of good players from the best JV team in the Big 9. Depth will be one of this teams strong points as well a plethora of big men who can be interchanged. Nobody in the conference will have the size advantage they have.) East (Snapp, Barnes, Faver / Probably has the most returning amount of scoring offense in the league. With Barnes and Snapp, East has the league's best scoring tandem, but will East ever be able to finish the season as well as they start them?) Science Hill (Smith, Adams, Grey / Lost 4 year starter and Georgetown player Wattad but pretty much returned everyone else. Question is are these guys any good without The Omar? Chris Smith was very good at times last year but disappeared in others. This is also a big year for Dionte Grey who has had to play in Omar's shadow for the past 3 years.) South (Carr, Dick, Tingle / Lost a ton of points from last year from Wringley and Willey. This group of South players was the best in the area 4 years. A lot of questions about who will or will not be playing for them this year. With all the young guys on this team the coach may be seeing this as a rebuilding year.) TN High (Turnbull, Young / Does it really matter who Coach Witcher has? Whether TN High has a ton of talent or little talent they are going to be tough to play because of the pace of the game they play and the tough zone and matchup defenses they present. This team is almost identical to last years, which talent wise was weak, but they did win the district. They will also have an advantage from previous years with football ending early.) Volunteer (Cradic, Red headed kid whose name I cannot remember /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> / Lost a lot of key role players from last years team who surprised many. They have a young big kid who could be a nice addition to the proven guards if he has developed. To me the question is will Volunteer's players be allowed to play basketball or will it be another year that Volunteer showcases one player and the coach lets the other guys set "screens" as in the years past.)
  17. Figured I would go ahead and start a thread and catch up on the team since I have been out of town and unable to see any of the scrimmages. I know that there are no returning starters from last year but the last time we didn't have any we had a pretty good year (2004-2005). The good thing about this year is that every team in the Big 9 lost players just like we did. Here is what the lineup looks like for us right now: Point - Mickey Brown Wing - Jason Rock Wing/Post - Josh Kaiko Wing - Carl Roberts (will start when Kaiko goes to the post) Post - Patrick Albright Post - Neil Jackson After this I don't really know a lot about the rest of the kids. I know that Tyler Devault has improved a lot of the summer and should see some good minutes. So anyone know how the Jamboree went tonight?
  18. William Miller did not play his senior year and Tylee Henry transfered to Volunteer for his. I am pretty sure that during Miller's sophomore year that Kentucky was after him pretty hard. You are right, I mean how many 6'3 point guards do you see in this area now that are as quick or strong as Miller was? Football has taken over as the big sport at DB nowadays where as at one time it was basketball. It used to be all the athletes there played basketball, now they play football. There are not many, if any, schools that compete at the state level in both sports.
  19. I actually think it was Colonial Heights who was the dominate team when this class was in middle school. I think they went like 2 or 3 years without losing a game. I may be wrong. Why do you keep bringing up when this team played Freshman ball? Believe it or not some kids get better after their freshman year and some kids get passed up (height and skill wise). When Pitts was at SH his freshman teams were usually not very good. Freshman team is used to help develop players, not score see how far you can run the score up.
  20. I didn't get to see or hear the game but from what it sounds like from TriCitiesSports.com is that DB got hosed by the officials. It seemed like every player made a comment about it, as well as Morgan. For that many to say something it had to be a little questionable. What association did the officiating? I know that most of the time officials don't win/lose games but in a game decided by 3 points, 1 or 2 calls can make a huge difference. Should have got Pitts while you could have. Who dropped the ball on that one?
  21. Who played when it was 72-73? Was that they year that Dan Moody hit the half-court shot against DB at Central? Coach Warren had a picture in the locker room from that game and there was literally people hanging from the rafters. Also, who was 92-93? I am sure it was SH and somebody. Was Jamichael Mills at DB at that time?
  22. TN High's success will keep going as long as there is an Arby's Classic and Bahama trips.
  23. It's no surprise that once TN High gets away from their "boys" they struggle to beat a 9-17 Mo West team and then get waxed by SH. Everyone expected this outcome. Science Hill is just better. I'm just glad that them winning the district didn't effect a team a lot better than them like DB getting into the substate.
  24. Congratulations to both the Toppers and Tribe on wins tonight and getting that substate birth. These were the top 2 teams in the area and deserve to be going where they are going. Didn't get to see either game but I heard the DB/Greeneville game was unbelievable!
