  1. We are still driving over there for what should be a great match. Alittle disappointed CAK dropped 1 to Webb, but that is what I always say, even the very best stumble and if you can keep them down when they do you can beat them, that seems to have happened, No matter even with neither team having a running streak, both are two of the best teams in the state and both could win it again and I expect a great game and glad it is on a Friday, it makes it an easier drive .. Good Luck to both teams
  2. I could write a book on this subject of whom can beat whom in Div II and my original favorite really was Baylor, but they are now out and I see Catholic from the East with McCallie as my spoiler.... Father Ryan in the Middle with USN as my spoiler and CBHS in the West with MUS as my spoiler. By spoiler I mean the team capable of popping thru. I know most will not agree but I don't see Notre Dame as even in the championship. Oh they are plenty good enough and more than capable, but tourney time is a whole different animal and I see them if they get behind folding. Just my opinion though, BUT watch my favorites
  3. A healthy Baylor would be a formidable foe for Notre Dame, but with a few injuries Baylor is slowed alittle. Pride will play a big part for Baylor but I still see this as a Notre Dame Victory
  4. I have to congratulate Oak Ridge. I really didn't believe that they could beat Maryville, but perhaps we have underestimated Oak Ridge or over estimated Maryville and I would have to think it is the latter. Good job Oak Ridge!
  5. LC, is right and he played a big part in destroying CA. CA might have had a bad day, but to be honest that game was more than a bad day for CA ,... it was A better Lenoir City putting the whooping on an team that was definitely out matched that day
  6. Big G, I will never forget 2 years ago when I made that trek to Knoxville and watched CAK and Farragut play and watched the Coaches as well as all of your players pray at midfield before the game. I am coming for your game Friday Night and am looking for that visual confirmation of a higher power at midfield again. You and Coach Culbreth are both a class act. Good Luck
  7. I have seen all the teams and ask me the top 11 after I watch CAK and Farragut Friday night. IF i go on Where I think people are right now, CAK would be the Redmond #1 , But a revitalized Farragut team will give them a run for their money. If they handle this Farragut team with ease as some say they can, I will know for sure CAK should be ranked #1 , Folks they just haven't stumbled and EVERYONE else has. If they lose Father Ryan would get my vote. But in the playoffs watch the old true blues to pop back up like CBHS
  8. I have talked to some knowledgable coaches that say they are very good. Most have agreed that they need atrue striker( of course most teams do) But they are solid all over the field
  9. Don't expect the rankings on Eurosport to resemble mine very much, I vote on reality and some of the coaches on there vote their team higher than they should OR also don't vote like they know it should be because they want to stay up. Lastly some vote and don't really know the facts about the teams they are voting for or against.
  10. Big G, I stand corrected, it is Catholic that is moving classes. Yes, Having Brandon would give you another weapon, but best I can tell, you have more than enough to play with anyone. Hendersonville worried this year when playing Brentwood and not having their star Daniel Kelly who was in Ireland playing for the national team , but they came together as a team and won without him. Your team has that same ability. Good Luck, I will be trying to get to that game TO ALL:Everyday things change to affect the rankings, Mt Julet's big win last night over Smyrna, definitely gives more credence to Mt . Juliet being in the rankings right now......... I will try to keep this updated , but will probably start another thread when I re-rank
  11. Yes, I believe some A/AA teams can hang with the big AAA powers and CAK( who may even right now dominate the AAA teams) is definitely one of them) and so was the older Lenoir City who use to have some great battles with CAK. Coach G has done a very good job over there at CAK and really has the boys confident and humming. CAK obviously should be a power to contend with for a couple of years but will hit a wall or two as they step up to Div. II where they should have been all along. They are a very small school but because you can choose to pay the tuition and go there, it should be Div II. I don't think they give scholarships and that was they reason they weren't Div II before. Anyway, I think their annual battle with Farragut next week will tell their real power. They have already beaten some major teams in AAA and are looking great but I think a currently underrated Farragut team will be a great test for both Teams
  12. As I said when I started this post, locals will have ther own favorites and reasons why someone should notice their team. I am just the one in the middle trying to seperate truth and fantasy. Before you post, start back at the begining of my thread and follow my explanations. Now: Sportdude,...... I don't handle A/AA but I have emailed an asssociate and will do my best by next week. Li4soccer...... Yes, I know Ravenwood and as I said there are several teams that are close and they are one of them, but Ravenwoods weak schedule and their last 3 games being ties keeps them on the edge for now, they just need a big win to jump in the top 10 Cree, ..... Coach I always value your opinion and Rossview is right there on the edge of the rankings also, and could be some major Team's upset come tourney time, Manufan55 . Mt Juliet is another edge team but so is Glencliff who beat Mt. Juliet. But neither of their schedules are impressive , but still record gets them close Wall, ...tullahoma is getting plenty of credit. Being # 5 amoung the names in the top 10 is honor enough. They are winning well but have played no competition and few teams with winning records against anyone. I applaud what Tullohoma has done and consider them a good team, but if the teams in front of them had played their schedule they too would be undefeated As, I said I will try to answer all post when I can thumb thumb
  13. Having eyes everywhere is a figure of speech, I just maintain good contacts. Personally , Jesus Christ is my Savior and LC , I do take offense to that. I know you said it in jest but some are sensitive to comments made about Jesus. I know you didn't mean it that way.Ok, so now moving on... The question about Tullohoma, Until they lose they deserve to be ahead of other teams as long as they keep winning. Schedule does help them but after 12 wins you have something going on Oak Ridge is a very good team and currently deserve their ranking BUT are in for a week of spankings starting this Friday with Farragut, Maryville and Science Hill in their way. I don't think they can win 1 of those games. Again, it's only my opinion
  14. Yes, McMinn was beaten by Dalton 6-1 ....but Dalton played a very fast game that McMinn wasn't prepared for and had an off day to boot. I even checked my resources in Ga on this one. IF they played again the score would be different, Oh i think Dalton would win but the gaol differential would not be so far apart. I still stand with where I ranked McMinn. I have one team ranked below where I think they really should be also, so I know little things about each team, even old players such as LC your Blue suede shoes. IF anyone disagrees with my rankings I welcome your comments, I am always open and welcome to your comments or opinions, I just state though my thoughts whether they agree with anyone else or not from the knowledge I have ....
  15. Ok, as I said these are all my opinions but I have done the research and BIG G EXPRESS , I follow your post all the time and appreciate them. At this point I have a contact in just about every place I need them but thanks. OK, my number 10 could have been many teams,... as I stated some have good arguments to justify that theyshould be in the top 10. But that is a floating number and I have to just pick one until the season progresses. Example of what I mean floating. I used Greenville # 10 because they beat a good Seveir County team, tied a decent Dobbyns Bennett team but lost to Oak Ridge , whereas Smyrna was unranked by me but close because they did beat Oak Ridge but lost to Dobbyns Bennett............. So, I have to take a float there and maybe next time I do rankings, that will change due to record and opponents. Yes, I know Blackman is a contender for that spot , to me about 5 teams are . But, let me be real also, If I put on here teams whom I would put thru the playoffs, I would catch a barrage of ethnocentrisim ( feeling your school is the best) and I would be labled as out of touch, but really I am pulling it in from all places. The one thing I can't predict is an upset which happens all the time when someone dominates and yet can't find the goal. That will happen this year because of the parity. However don't just look at teams records to decide whether they can play and have a chance or not. Because, you can look past a team that might be just now coming together.
  16. McMinn has lost to Dalton Ga. a top contender every year in Georgia's AAAA class and ranked back and forth this year at 1st and 2nd..... and ,They also lost to Soddy Daisy team who has only lost to McCallie and Notre Dame both very good programs, Yes Soddy Daisy deserves notice
  17. No, the rankings don't reflect where every team thinks they should be , but circumstances and schedules are sort of in the mix 1) Hendersonville -yes, with or without Daniel Kelly 2. Brentwood - dropped due to loss to Hendersonville 3. Science Hill- only 1 in state loss and it was to CAK#1 ranked A/AATeam State Champ 4. Houston- Big Wins, no big Losses 5. Tullahoma - No big wins, BUT, it still takes a good team to be undefeated 6. Oak Ridge- No big wins but a lot of wins and some big losses 7. Soddy Daisy- They beat McMinn, and have lost 2 times to good teams 8. McMinn County- Good record , big win against Bearden 9. Bearden - Some Big wins, No Big Losses until McMinn County 10. Farragut- Losses but caused by to many injuries and suspensions, still tough 11. Greenville- Only their record keeps them here. No Big wins Now you may not agree with me, but I keep track of the entire state for a sports service and this the way I see the power. In reality I see some teams with better records that may should reflect in their being ranked , but as of this date they don't deserve it because of weaker schedules Forget using opponents records on EurosportScoreboard.com to see what percentage they have in wins and losses , that only works when every team reports what their record is( and not all do) and two, any out of state competition doesn't show anything for win/loss record thumb
  18. No, the rankings don't reflect where every team thinks they should be , but circumstances and schedules are sort of in the mix per the head guy at Eurosportsscoreboard. 1) hendersonville -yes, even without Daniel Kelly 2. Brentwood - yes but dropped due to loss to Hendersonville 3. Science hill- only 1 loss and it was to CAK#1 ranked A/AATeam State Champ 4. Bearden - Big wins, No Big Losses 5. Houston- Big Wins, no big Losses 6. Tullahoma- No big wins, BUT, it still takes a good team to be undefeated 7. Oak Ridge- No big wins but a lot of wins and some big losses 8. Soddy Daisy= They beat Mcminn, and have lost 2 timnes to good teams 9. Farragut- Losses but caused by to many injuries and suspensions, still tough 10. Greenviile- Only their record keeps them here. No Big wins Now you may not agree with me, but I keep track of the entire state for a sports service and this the way I see the power. In reality I see Farragut and Mcminn as bigger forces in their ranking , but as of this date they don't deserve it Forget using opponents records to see what percentage they have in wins and losses , that only works when every team reports what their record is( and not all do) and two any out of state competition doesn't show anything for record thumb
  19. Because they transfered out of JCM on that date and the TSSAA says you must sit out 1 year from the last day of attending the other school. So , some players get to jump into State Tournaments and play who didn't play all year. Houston had a player from Christian Brothers they used at staes last year
  20. Saturday........6:00 4/23 at Oak Ridge
  21. This is not a cut, just a question, If Brentwood is unstoppable, why did Hendersonville win? They might be good but unstoppable, I don't think so. And as far a a team like Cookeville feeling that a 3-0 loss was a victory, what is up with that comment; no team loses a game 3-0 and feel it is a victory, I think BHS 007 , your head may to big for your helmet!!
  22. oK, Quick synopsis of what I saw, and again this is an unbiased report so take it as that..... First Half was totally dominated by Farragut although they lacked in the ability to shoot. Many chances were not taken, almost like they had no confidence in themselves of getting it past the Maryville Keeper who was a big presence and did a great job. Farragut keeper on the other hand made a few good plays but enough bad decisions to lose the game for Farragut had the ball bounced different. Maryville's stopper did a good job at stopping things in the middle although Farragut won the overall midfield battle........... Maryville kept coming the full 80 minutes and put a great push on in the last 5 minutes but Farragut made adjustments thru-out the game that kept Maryville off balance. The second half was closer than the first but Farragut still seemed to control the ball most of the time. No doubt last night Farragut was the better team but Maryville is very good. IF I were CAK I would come ready to shoot quick, and expect to play a full 80 minutes becasue that is what I saw Maryville do last night. Altogether it was a very Good game.
  23. Big G , actually I will be visiting in the area and be at this game. I have heard it was at 7 now I hear it is at 6, anyway, as a former player now reporter without a team to support I will give you my opinion , either tonight after I get back to the hotel unless we go out to eat and then 1st think in the morning
  24. Umypahtcow, I said I would stay off here but you have riled a sore spot with Me and I must address this with some vigor. BOSS!1 , you are so right about many things that you said, but umyphatcow says he knows so much, so let''s see. # 1 Your hero big Dave, Never trained Josh Wolfe or Beasley, Now maybe he had his picture with them , but never trained them # 2 ) He claims to be a good friend Of Cobi Jones, I know Cobi personally thru Student Sports and he said he's never heard of Big Dave #3) Big Dave says he wrote for the " Southern Soccer" Paper to get in many games around the state as Media for free, Yet Southern Soccer says they have never had a reporter from Tennessee, nor ever one with his name #4) Are you his nephew or kin to him, I know he trains some relative. #5) If you didn't do anything in High School or Club, you definitely are going to a weak program by your own description as building a great soccer program. Are they giving you money for Soccer ? I would doubt it based on your own comments. # 6) ASk big colleges or little colleges across the country if they have heard of Coach Turner and Coach Culbreth, alot of them will say yes, but they have never heard of Big Dave Goldschmit, oh maybe he has sent them a letter, But the College coaches can tell you right off the bat who Turner and Culbreth are. #7) Both coaches have extensive coaching licenses and have trained and been evaluated at all levels getting those licenses 8) Tenn is not their only claim to fame, Culbreth was successful in Fla also. 9) Tenn gets beat at the region because of the teams being Terititorial. Other states grab players from all over the state to make teams or even cross state lines and Tenn still does it , do their destruction the same old way, locally put together. 10) As Far as Turner or Culbreth getting you a good scholarship, In east Tenn , no coaches have sent off more scholarship soccer players than Turner and Culbreth. 11) Your judgement is clouded by your own admission, you weren't good in High School and you weren't good in club, so you are a bad judge of talent and Charachter to think Turner and Culbreth are average and Big Dave is the best, he is not on anyones radar but yours. Oh , Don't worry, I will not respond anymore on here or to any of your post, I just had to defend two good men and say my piece, which if you check the records that can be done on the internet, you will find all I can prove all I have said
  25. I no longer post on here and try to stay off here and just follow the state results and report what is going on all over the state and report them to Soccerstudentsports. I no longer play in High School and am in college, but follow the state closely as a reporter and have extensive knowledge of every division of players and coaches, but I have to step in here, #1 it is Farragut that lost 11 seniors for the last two years not Bearden, while Bearden has lost some very good players also to graduation in the last two years and has definitely missed them. # 2 Turner has coached some successful select teams but has coached younger ages and has not had a chance at the state level yet. Culbreth has coached several State Champion club teams in Fla and Tennessee ( See Knoxville Paper article sports page May 2002). Both Turner and Culbreth hold the 2nd Highest Licenses awarded by the NSCAA coaches association. They obviously are serious about coaching and have studied the sport, and are good coaches. # 3 Aaron Doyle did say in an article after being named player of the year in Tenn, that he played harder because he never wanted to let his coach (Culbreth) down. # 4 Unfortuanately, for anyone to call Doyle a waste doesn't realize all that he did while playing High School Soccer or that maybe other things were more important to him after High School . # 5 Everyone thinks they could do a better job second guessing any coach, but bottom line is until you have done it and done it better than the coach you are judging, you have ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM TO TALK. In this case , No one should be judging these two coaches , because if you ask other coaches in the entire state at any division, which I have, everyone respects Turner and Culbreth as two of the best and so does Soccerstudentsports.com.
