  1. Pool workouts can be fun, ive only done one as a team but you can do pool workouts on your own whenever there is a pool or some deep body of water available. You can just get to where you are waist deep and do some hard sprints back and forth, thatll get your legs moving. And also, get in the deep end and tread water, moving your legs in your normal running motion for as long as you can, you can try to go a total of 12 min or so, that would be a normal 3 miles, considering the resistance of the water. In b/t your actually working out, play water volleyball or whatever you want. Believe it or not, this is a great workout anyways cuz the resistance of water is so powerful that whether you are just swimming or working out in your pool, you are getting your legs stronger. Another idea would be inviting your whole CC or Track team over and just having fun swimming and eating and hanging out together. This is great for bonding with each other. Hope this was helpful.
  2. Hey, I am a freshman track runner ( and maybe cross country in the fall ) and I am looking for ways to get better over the summer. I want to improve my speed and stamina. I run the 400 and 200 and need to work on my times. What are good times for a freshman and sophomores in high school and what are your strategies for running the 400? Also, what are the best times in the state in the 400 now and what is the all time record? Another thing, are there any summer teams around that I could join or something? Let me know if you have any of this information. I'd appreciate it.
  3. ~~~But from what I heard about whats going on over there I would leave to. ~~~ tcompton- what exactly have you heard that would make players want to leave? if kids leave its usually cuz they cant take the heat or argue over playing time. i know coach froedden probably wouldnt tell a kid what he wants to hear, but what he needs to hear to get better. he won't baby the kids into staying. he coaches the kids hes got and does a tremendous job at it. they enjoy working hard for him and he does whats needed for them to win. the talent pool isnt tremendously deep like BCS and other schools but they do play hard which gets them along. a lot of last years problems were team chemistry it looked like. alot of the guys looked to want to look good instead of getting the Win. hopefully, without any superstars next year, the harding kids will get along and play great team ball, which is what wins games. 4. Nope. No state champs this year. Who knows, anything can happen but I've learned that you can't call anything before playoffs come. I'll admit, I was sure Harding could go to state last year but things happen and they didn't but thats life. A couple of players may be leaving but no one will know for sure untill next year unless the players themselves say they won't. Harding will have to overcome tremendous odds to be successful next year but if you look at teams Coach Froedden has had before( except for last year) talent hasn't been abundant but he has managed to be successful nonetheless. He is a great coach and most of the kids that don't play just can't handle criticism, which is the strongest way to get players better. He's not mean, he just wants a good team which is his job. But I won't shout out any obsurd preseason predictions b/c anything can happen. I mean BCS did go to Regionals so...
  5. youre right. sorry about that. i knew lausanne lost to brentwood. my mistake. careless and stupid.
  6. and...? I know that BCS basketball has the potential to be a very good team next year. Losing no starters ( I think ) and only maybe 1-2 seniors, and having a very talented sophomore class, they should be exciting to watch and tough to play against. Trey Lampkin, Brandon Berry, Brian Moffit, Ross Tapley, Big Mike, Patrick Spach, and Co. are all very good basketball players. Their soph. class next year will be shakey unless some new players come in. Moffit is a tough guy to play against. The only thing about this team in my opinion is their intensity. It seems to flicker and they are inconsistent in giving it all on the floor. Of course, I won't be able to cheer for these guys b/c I have another team in their district that I cheer for, but I won't put them down, nor try to hype them up until season starts up. I will say however, that they should not have gone to Regionals ahead of Harding but they did it and Harding had two tough losses to State Champs Lausanne ( a(very close game that we could have won ) and a Charles Hampton lead Bishop Byrne team. Does anyone have any expectations for Harding next year? I know they lost three of their top players and will be very young, small, and not very deep but I still think they will be a very good team. With Froedden coaching them, they are bound to exceed expectations and should be a very tight-knit team. Anyone else think anything about any D2 east teams?
  7. How do y'all think Harding's 4x100 team will be this year? They were pretty good last year with two freshmen and two juniors and it was their first time with eachother. This year, as two sophs and two seniors, Chris Pryor, Cortez Mack, CJ Harris, and David Chew should be able to win state this year in D2. What do yall think, are there any other teams that can beat them?
  8. I would like CoachT to save this thread for the rest of CoachT history. This has to be the best thread ever. Coming from another bench-warmer ( me ) this really speaks from the heart and I am glad that there is a place where I can belong, my own lepor colony if you will. But this inspires me, allowing me to know that bench-warmers can always be successful at their job, fouling, being fouled, gettin the team better, and looking your best during warm ups. Getting your name chanted from the crowd in blow out games ( which starters dont get ) is the greatest feeling in the world. If only I could be like Mason... sigh maybe someday, but I'll need a couple more years of experience ( only being a freshman ) to live up to his legacy but I'm willing to work at it
  9. Who all is in the frontrunning for Mr. Basketball in Division 2? I'm sure Lausanne's Marc Gasol and Bishop Byrne's Charles Hampton are up there, along with Harding's Trey Williams but other than those three, who could be considered as a Mr. Basketball contender? And who is the most likely to win it out of Hampton, Williams, and Gasol? Gasol probably averages the most points but being 7'0 who wouldn't score that much without any comp. in the post in D2. Hampton is very good and Williams is incredible as well. Who all do you think could win this and please tell why, putting names alone doesn't justify your opinions.
  10. It might be Walsh or Payton, I don't remember which one did more damage to us ( if any ) but thanks for mentioning those guys from the East side of TN. I haven't seen any of them play so thanks for adding to the list. Has Brentwood gotten better? Obviously so but Harding did stomp them earlier in the year but teams get better. Does anyone have any stats on the 2 big men for them?
  11. I don't think Meeks is that good of a player, he is a lefty which throws people off but he is so predictable. A one dribble pull up baseline side is all he has in his arsenal. Justin Jenkins just shut him out in the game at ECS last Tuesday, but then again, that whole team was handed a butt whooping so... but anyways, Meeks as a finalist? I would not put him in my top 10 in D2, maybe even top 20. But I know he has had a decent season so far, too bad he won't beat Harding this season.
  12. In relation to a similar thread, who would be on your Dream Team in Division 2? Simply because I am from West Tennesee, my picks would be : 1- Trey Williams 2- John Bradford 3- Carlos Taylor 4- Marc Gasol 5- Charles Hampton 6- Ryan Baum 7- SBA player ( I forget his name, sorry) Anyone else? I know some of these players aren't necessarily as talented as others but I think they come up big in big games or else have had some good performances.
  13. If this game ever rolls around, who do y'all think will win it? The series on the season is tied 1-1, with St. Benedict winning at Harding on Senior Nite/Homecoming. However, Harding won by about 10 or so at St. Benedict earlier in the season and their loss was kind of a fluke, not knocking SBA because they play great team ball, but Harding is such a better team. Now that its crunch time, who would you take in this matchup?
  14. You really dont think that Bradford is top 100? I'm surprised because he can often hang with Trey Williams, who is top 15. I would take him at least top 100 if not alot higher but maybe thats just me. I think once Rodriguez gets the oppurtunity to show HIS game, there will be many surprises, he can get shaken up sometimes but in the gym, he is awesome to watch.
  15. I think Trey Williams of Harding should get Mr. Basketball because he can single handidly take over the game at any moment and can score at will. There has been NOBODY all year who has held him. Charles Hampton is very good and will probably win it next year, if not this year. Gasol is a contender because he is big. Nothing else. I think his inside game is lacking. At 7 foot ( give or take ) he should be alot better but he is averaging near the top of the class so I can't say much else than his post game needs work. But other than that, I have found nobody in D2 to take Mr. Basketball from Trey Williams.
  16. John Bradford and Adam Rodriguez of Harding Academy are underrated. John is extremely athletic and is a great all around player and is very strong. He is the leading rebounder and 2nd leading scorer on the team. Adam is an incredible shooter, the best on the team, and has great game but isn't that strong. Neither of these players are on the top 100 lists for their class ( John- '03 Adam '04). Can anyone explain this? Gomab?
  17. Some of the better signs I have seen were at the BCS/ Harding matchup, with some of the Harding fans holding signs that read: 1) " Hidey Ho BCS, You Play Like I Smell" - with a picture of Mr. Hankey and 2) " Four Bus Rides To Nashville- 500$ Four Overnite Stays At Holiday Inn- 400$ Four Trips To State and No Ring - priceless This is referring to the fact that Briarcrest unsuccessfully went to state a bunch of times in a row. I know that the figures are a little off and that the numbers could possibly be wrong ( 3 trips instead of four? ) and that there were more things listed and 3) " Saint Pride" with a picture of rainbows and little other gay pictures in there to tease the Saints of .... well, you know All of this may just be funny cuz of the bitter contempt Harding has for BCS but keep postin these signs. THanks
