  1. GC played some quality b'ball...a huge victory for the pioneers on the road. Give this new coach a chance and I think he will bring the program back. If you remember last year, they lost 6-7 games by 1-3 points...they just were not able to get over the hump. Good teams do that and they are becoming a better team.
  2. I don't know how many of you actually saw the game...I did... and GC out played them and out coached them...its nice to get a few wins!! GO GC!
  3. As far as class A goes..have not seen Clarkrange play, but I have seen Peabody play several times. In order to be the man you have to beat the man and in terms of class A ball they have not been beaten. Peabody should win another title. Class AA will be hard to pick. I agree, in order to be the man you have to beat the man and 7AA has its share of gold balls. This year may be different as Gibson County is playing pretty good. Don't count out Westview either. GC should have a chance this year. GO GC!! Class AAA...Shelbyville should win...
  4. Trenton is definitely not getting the respect they deserve. Is this not the exact same team that won the state championship last year? I thought they didn't graduate anyone, but I also thought I read somewhere that they lost a few players. Please update me.
  5. GC's Kaitlin Dudley is a good player. She has the skills, the talent and most important the passion. She is fun to watch and should only get better...which is scary for opposing teams.
  6. We got to see a pretty good game. STORM was right...sometimes good defense causes low scores. I don't think either team played their normal game...I have defininatley seen GC play much better and I'm sure Westview has too (since this was the first time I've seen Westview). Both teams play pretty good defense if you follow them much at all. The next one should be GREAT!
  7. tennisguy...the district we play in is a pretty good one. As far as playing cup cakes or cream puffs as you might want to say...how does Westview, Obion County, Dyer County, Chester County and Trenton Peabody sound. I think they may be state caliber teams don't you??? If not this year they have been in the past and we play those teams twice every year.
  8. ...in terms of student enrollment GC is not that much larger than Peabody. I think we will see both teams in Murfreesboro. And by the way they have only played 3 times. GC winnig big at their place and the other two close. Your right, I don't see any single A team around here that can beat them.
  9. The Chester Co. game was close, but GC had one of their worst games of the season so far. If they play up to their potential, they will be hard to beat. Any team coached by David Russell will improve as the season goes on. We have a relatively young team.
  10. Has anyone else heard anything about Coach Bowlin leaving Gibson Co?
  11. Hey wimpy...what about this school in Arkansas. What have you heard. Are they making a change @ GC??? Have not heard anything if they are. I may be behind on the news, but have not heard anything about Bowlin leaving.
  12. Who has heard anything about changes in West Tennessee? [Edited by gcfan2 on 3-22-03 7:11P]
  13. How can you feel right on top of the action from the upper deck at DC??? I agree that the staff at GC has done a tremendous job to be able to host the tournament for so long, but the fact that we can seat 2500 fans has a lot to do with it. I'm not against going to these other places. It will be a change of scenery. For now, lets just hope to make it to the GLASS HOUSE - that facility in Murfreesboro!
  14. I agree, students should be charged $1.00 or should be admitted for free. Even at Gibson County, where we have excellent fan support, the students are scarce. The TSSAA should consider this.
  15. Lets hope we don't have a let down. You are right, the last time we beat Obion County in our next to last game, we came out very flat against Chester County and let them beat us. I think we learned a lesson from that. Coach Russell will have them ready to play. [Edited by gcfan2 on 3-8-03 3:27P]
  16. Heavyd, as far as "watching" the game there is NO BETTER GYM than GC. There's not a bad seat in the house. They can seat more people too. As you know you have to be able to accomodate a lot of fans in this district. Just beacuse Westview and DC have new gym's does not make it a better place to watch games.
  17. Heavyd, Overall facility, you may be right. Westview and DC are newer, more modern and definitely have the parking situation beat hands down. I still think GC's gym is a great layout and it's hosted the biggest district tourney in the state for several years. It'll be good to see the other schools get that opportunity. I still say that DC will have to change the food and drink policy or they'll get more griping than GC gets about parking. Do you agree or am I the only one bothered by the no food or drink deal?
  18. Katman, I have to agree with you on the parking. I hear the district tourney will rotate between GC, DC and Westview beginning this year. Unless something changes, better eat your trail mix in the parking lot at DC. Surely they will have to change the "no food or drink in gym" policy before they host a tournament. And while our parking leaves a lot to be desired, our facility is still tops. Ok.Ok. I would have to give a thumbs down to the restrooms, too. [Edited by gcfan2 on 3-5-03 7:18P]
  19. If Gibson County can continue to play at the level they are now, they will come out of Region 7. Having a coach like David Russell will be a big plus. GOOD LUCK PIONEERS!!
  20. Top ten looks good to me. Tournament time in 13AA is going to be a treat for any basketball fan. I would dare say some of the best basketball will be played next week in 13AA. There are three top five teams in the state playing in one distirct!!! GO GCHS!!
  21. Gibson County has been playing good...but the real season will start in about a week. It is unfortunate that 13AA can only send two teams to the boro. GO PIONEERS!!! P.S. As far as the Westview loss, GC just plain got beat. 13 points can't be blamed on the referees
  22. the problem is sometimes they are too agressive and get in foul trouble, but i think thats the style coach russell likes for the team to play...
  23. Don't know for a fact, but Eddings (their coach) comes to a lot of our games so that may be right.
  24. The Jessica Johnson from Gibson County and her twin sister is not bad either.
  25. We are fortunate...they draw a big crowd every home game, but this one since it was against Westview brought in more fans. The problem is getting them to stay for the boys game. The boys team is competitive, they just dont have the record the girls have.
