  1. So it seems like those going to the state duals are Pigeon Forge Anderson County Soddy Daisy Signal Mnt Tullahoma Station Camp Millington Central Munford i don’t know much about Millington Central or Munford but was surprised they beat Fairview. Should be a fun weekend
  2. I agree with this and the fact PF is always a tough out, great coaching up there! You are right, the nerves got to our Luke last night, it was a big moment and that gym was rocking and we just had 3 straight pins so it was a mad house at that point, so I have a feeling he's going to come out the next time much better against Higdon. I mean Higdon placed last year so he's been in this position before. So I'll be interested to see how they matchup when it comes at the regions and maybe the sectionals also! I was impressed last night with a bunch of those kids, I mean we all know Duncan, Lewis, boogie, Turner, Rawlinson, Ross since they are returning placers I think from last year. Pete has looked good so far, Wade looked good last night also and of course the before mentioned Davis at heavy! Wysong also looked good at 144 and Colin Bull is a pretty good wrestler to fill in when needed as is Nathan Moungsiharat. So they are a strong team with really no holes!
  3. Yeah, the 106 Higdon you can tell has been there before, our freshman had a rough time with him last night, Rawlinson did well for the first minute but after that you could see older Davis turned it on and Rawlinson got caught and like you said the Uhorchuks always bring it! After going over their results I was expecting more from Signal and some of their wrestlers but after last night I do agree they could force Soddy who to bring out and it would be closer but not sure it would be close to enough. I was VERY impressed with Ayden Jenkins last night, I thought it was the right call to not put him down last night and choose neutral for the 3rd, just hate he gave up a wild TD that put him to his back that he almost had as a TD and BP himself. Should have been a tech instead of a MD and I was not expecting that decision at all. I will say since they did move around weights so much we didn't see Carter Lynch who is ranked last night for Signal, maybe if they throw Jojo at 120 and let Lynch wrestle his usual 126 against Duncan they have a better chance to get some points back. I do expect them to get a good match or 2 in at State Duals, surely someone out there has a tough small school team? I do agree they should win individuals, they have a chance to place 10 maybe even more although not many champs. Anyone know why Elijah Turner hasn't wrestled much at all this year?
  4. in AA I do think they could contend with Blackman, Nolensville, Brentwood and maybe even Summit, they beat DB pretty badly at Wilson Central duals, although I don't know if either team was full strength.
  5. There was a ton of people last night at the dual, although I actually thought it would be packed to the gills, but it was a great atmosphere! Yeah, alot of the kids got out and wrestled FS/GR during offseason and you can see the strides they have made there, with one of the biggest strides coming from the heavy Davis, this year he looks like a totally different wrestler, not only bigger and stronger but he is aggressive also! I will say Signal is better than they showed last night, I just don't think any of the moving around they did worked out as well as if they had wrestled straight up, although I think if they wrestle again it would be closer, after last night I don't think they can beat Soddy even if they brought their A game and Soddy didn't wrestle all that good and that is coming from me who is very superstitious and I don't like picking my own teams to win things especially winning big. They are just tough from top to bottom. I will say I'm not sure what they have in the pipeline but once Jojo is gone and they no longer have any Uhorchuk's left they are going to have a tough time staying on top! Those boys have really helped somewhat carry that team for a long time with pretty much always having a guaranteed 5 or 6 points!
  6. I knew they were good but I really had a hard time believing you from before about how good, but they even have some good JV kids to fill roles when needed! I say they have Alcoa at 5 tomorrow at the round gym. At state I’m not sure what anyone else has for them but it should be a nice ride!
  7. They looked fired up tonight. Not sure who they have tomorrow but whoever it is will have to bring their best to even have a shot
  8. 44-19 and boogie is wrestling up at 150 and Turner is last if they even have him wrestle. Only these 2 matches left
  9. Not sure if it would have mattered or not, they don’t have really anybody between them and once their 113 almost got tech falled they were going to have a tough time catching up.
  10. 34-9 Soddy but Signal has their meat of the lineup up now starting with Jojo
  11. Welcome, if I get any other results I’ll try and keep it updated. I’m still not sure about that region 8. Seems many other deserving teams that could be there instead of 5 teams that one ends up getting a spot at the state duals. Plus their results are hard to find, not only on track but also local papers.
  12. I hope you are right and yes, looking at results through the year, it does seem like they haven’t had their entire lineup all season as Turner has barely wrestled, so I do hope they bring it and win going away tomorrow, but the boys from the Mnt always bring their A game also and they have been good at scrounging points when needed and I expect them to do the same tomorrow. I’m looking forwards to it!
  13. Just so far what I have parsed out so far only 1 region i see thats been done and that is region 1 Region 1- David Crockett and TN High Region 2- Anderson county vs Seymour, Pigeon forge vs Clinton Region 3- Alcoa vs stone memorial, Samuel Everett vs Cumberland Region 4- Soddy vs Red Bank, Hixson vs Signal Region 5- Tullahoma vs forrest, Cornersville vs cascade Region 6- Station Camp vs White House, Greenbrier-no clue who was RU district 11 Region 7- Fairview won, now mont central or sycamore from district 14 MLK and James Lawson?? out of district 13 Region 8- doesn't really matter 1 district has 2 teams Munford and Millington Central other district has 3
  14. I see that now, neither team from the other district SM or CC can beat Alcoa or SESI. Hopefully its like last year where both SM and SD make it to state, just with a different outcome for my SD boys
  15. yeah, I think I'm going to quit responding also, no one's changing anyone's opinion or the way they see things, will be some really interested next few weeks, duals are my favorite time of year, I like individual alright, but duals show the strength of the team top to bottom when individuals do not. Enjoy the coming weeks KidGloves! Good luck to all the teams out there and I pray for safety from injury and good health for you all so that you have the ability to continue this great journey in your high school wrestling career!
  16. I didnt know Samuel Everett was that good this year! I'm interested to hear who makes it out of this tomorrow night since Soddy and Signal will have to wrestle the winners!
  17. lol, yeah and than I lose my source, some here might believe it but I'm not an idiot!
  18. I did find one such donor to them and I find it funny is Community Foundation of Cleveland and Bradley County. They are a designated funds recipient, which means someone gives money directly on HCWC behalf and they in turn donate that exact amount directly to HCWC and no one else. I can't see who the person or business is that is giving the money to the Community Foundation.
  19. you don't have to always been in the room to be connected to a program sir, people might have friends all over the place and people talk, they gossip and no wrestling club or even high school sport is so well oiled that they don't have people who talk and gossip! They can try all they want to limit what happens inside their gym, but the kids talk, their parents see things and when around spectators do also.
  20. But that is the thing, I think some of you either DON'T UNDERSTAND or don't want to admit, either way its kind of annoying that you cannot admit that the foundation of the club itself was built because of money! I can have a dream all day long but hard work doesn't make that dream just come to fruition, not when it's something that has to start with the almighty dollar! I will always give Josh and Joey credit, they are doing a great job with HCWC and Cleveland wrestling, they have, instead of coasting on their laurels they have put it back down into 4th gear and slammed the pedal back down and are pulling even further ahead! NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT FACT! However, what NONE of you Cleveland fans want to even see at all is that without Allan pushing in a ton of money that club never takes the next step it needed and pushed it to what it has became. Now as you said you weren't around for that time, but just because you weren't around doesn't mean it didn't happen! If Allan Jones says no to Josh and pay his coaching salary he might be back up in NE TN where he's from coaching up that way and prob still doing a heck of a job, same with Joey! However Allan did say yes, he committed a great deal of money to Josh's dream and made it all happen. None of us here are saying it was a miracle, Jones gave all this money and the next year it sprouted this amazing wrestling club. No, we are just saying that there very well might not be a Cleveland dynasty without Allan Jones, it's pretty simple.
  21. THIS is exactly what I'm trying to understand why people are not understanding it all! It must be alot of them just have no common sense and their math isn't mathing right now. The foundation was laid because Jones put the money out for it to take place! Also for them to say that no one is paid with HCWC is funny, their tax records show employee pay of 17k plus without names being put on it. I know I volunteered with Soddy way back right after I graduated and never got paid, but 17k is a good chunk of money to coach wrestling, especially youth wrestling and on top of that having a job like a teacher(yes I taught and had a teaching license, at this point 18 years in I would be making 62k plus in Hamilton county and that's just with my BS, masters pay year 18 at 69k. Starting is 45k. That with the summers off to be able to train more full time plus travel. Now teachers don't make the money they should for the work they do teaching our youngsters, but 17k for coaching youth level is pretty good!
  22. I don't think anyone is really angry about it, Just think some people are DUMB to think that Josh and Joey are the only reason why the program is successful when the article when Josh got his AAU award states he came to Jones to get the kids club program jumpstarted in Cleveland and Jones obliged by giving it the money needed to start! Do you think the same thing that is happening now takes place if Jones had said NO THANKS? I mean even with Jones money it took years for them to get the program where it is today. They actually hired Heath as the head club coach after Jones hired a national hiring firm, until he left making Josh the kids club coach. Yost won 3 straight state titles 2013-2015 and after he left they went 3 years without a state title, I think Bosken was head coach for a season during that stretch, Knox became head coach and had a few more seasons with no state title before running off the insane title run they are on now! I did find this post from 2013 and wanted to see how much was fact? Cleveland has had a lot of success over the years, but what brought them back to the elite level was hiring Heath Eslinger and just as vital was Heath's hiring of Eric Phillips as the MS coach at CHS, and Heath's formation (along with Coach Al Morris of Walker Valley) of the Higher Calling Wrestling Club as a kids club. Walker Valley has since started their own kids club, but they actually started Higher Calling together. Before that, Bradley had the only kid's club in town and most all the young wrestlers (many who were sons of former Bradley and Cleveland wrestlers) were in the Bradley club and ended up at Bradley. Hiring Heath was the first step, but if he hadn't gotten lucky and found Eric Phillips (which is another story that someone can tell better than me) and started the kids club, they probably aren't where they are today. Also, FWIW, Heath and Eric Phillips are better people than they are wrestlers or wrestling coaches and they are obviously two of the best coaches in the state of TN. of course plenty more after that, that seems to be a good read on who all should be commended as part of the wrestling dynasty that is Cleveland
  23. actually Jake won 3 in a row, since I just looked or at least Cleveland did 2013-2015! Also Saban is the GOAT because BAMA decided they were tired of losing and put a huge commitment on hiring Saban and allowing him to hire the best coaches and best weight training and best of everything, and GUESS WHAT, THAT TOOK MONEY FOR HIM TO DO! SABAN was the highest paid coach by millions when hired after failing at Miami in the pros, He was the highest paid coach in the country, He had the highest assistant coach pool in the country and his S&C coach was ALSO the highest paid S&C coach in the country! Sounds very familiar! If not don't you think Saban won have won more games at MSU where he wont .585 of his games while Dantonio took over many years after and won many more games than Saban did at the same place? Saban went from MSU to LSU who had much more a commitment to winning, paid him as the 2nd highest coach in the country and about the same for his assistants, he won a Natty there before heading to the pros, hired by Bama and their financial commitment to Saban has been paid back 20 fold!
