  1. LA's Boys Roster is now on the site. It was an oversight on my part. Thanks for letting me know jimbo44. Personally, I want to commend Jackson Co., as well as LA--(those particular schools you mentioned)-- both schools have worked hard on their web sites and have earned ranking as ihigh's top 100 in the nation. There are also a few other high schools in the state of TN as well on the 5-star list. I would suspect the reason a lot of the high school's don't keep their web sites up to date is because they either don't know about the sites, or they just don't have time to do it. Many schools let the students write stories and maintain their sites for grades in relevant classes. As for me, I maintain LA's site-- on my OWN time. I do it because I want to do it, because I sure don't get paid for it. Well, that's not entirely true. My payment is the satisfaction I get when I overhear the kids saying things like..."did you see that picture on the website", or "are you going to put that on the web site?". So if I were you, I'd be hesitant to make general statements like the one in your post. True, there are many sites that are not up to date, but the ones you mentioned are at least trying to make a difference!
  2. I can remember being a little girl around 1979 (age 7 or 8), and going to watch my oldest brother play at the high school. It seemed to be all the people from the Independence or Monroe area of Overton Co.(I'm not sure which) that began that cheer... H-O-G-E-Y-E- HOGEYE, HOGEYE... TNT. When the game needed a rally from the crowd, that cheer began from those particular people, and it just stuck. I'm not sure the students now even know what it means, or where it came from-- and probably even think it's strange-- but they're for sure used to it. They all need to know what it means too, because it's a part of their history whether they like it or not. Thanks for the question, and post. Maybe this will help those that thought it was about a pig!
