  1. Kevin I was referring to when we were up by two points with no time on the clock and Sauceman was AWARDED a three point foul and hit all of them.
  2. I was fortunate enough to watch my boys play tonight since I am in for the holidays. They looked like a different team from the first half of the season. Congratulations to the guys on beating South Greene for the first time (even though we should have won in districts last year). UC might be able to surprise some people down the stretch.
  3. With a win, Gibbs still has a chance for the playoffs. So I am going to take the Eagles on Homecoming Night.
  4. Patriotballer correct if I am wrong, but it seems to me that last year Pigeon Forge beat us 33-27 and Cumberland Gap 14-7. That doesn't really seem like a blowout to me. I will agree that UC is very lucky to have such a great coach in the system, but the last few years were a building block. Good luck the rest of the year fellas and hopefully I will get to catch the Gibbs game.
  5. West Greene always complains about getting the score run up on them. The truth is it isn't considered running the score up when a JV is hammering a Varsity. I wasn't there but I know both schools and this is definitely the case. Rutledge has always shown class and I am sure last night was just the same.
  6. I really feel sorry for the upcoming juniors and seniors next year. They are ultimately the ones who will suffer from this drawn out process by the administration. I went by practice this week and only saw like 20 players out there. What is more sad is that the ones playing don't have a clue about the coaching situation. I spoke with a couple of players today who would have a huge impact on next year's team who are considering transferring. I'm glad I graduated this year so my senior year didn't start like this one. The problem with our county is NO ONE cares about sports at our school! It is really sad to see a community with no spirit. This is where the lack of success starts and until something changes there will always be an uphill battle for success. There are several communities whose teams are very successful, but they ALWAYS support their teams and that goes so far!! Just read the posts from people from Union County on here and you will know exactly what I am talking about!
  7. Coach Harper was at UC when we played South Greene Tuesday.
  8. Patriotbballer your obsession with Coach Jessie is remarkable. If you think he is so good why don't you go get his autograph. By the way, I know who you are!
  9. Hey Kev, yea I have been out since December 16. I tore all my ligaments in my ankle and foot against Claiborne. I went to the doctor today to get cleared but it is still going to take longer. The earliest I will be back (a miracle) is for Rutledge next Tuesday. You know me though when it counts I will be there. As for Mbrooks, as PZ said I have been there before. Yea it is embarassing to get beat like that but you know what we didn't complain. Instead, we worked that much harder to get better and should have beat GP at home. Sportmanship is always an important part of the game, and I believe we showed that. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise. The old lady who sit behind our bench at West Greene last year and cussed us the whole game wasn't exactly classy either!
  10. Patriotbballer, Just to clarify what you said about the Cosby game, I was in until the fourth quarter but we never through a pass and didn't have a true backup. Coach played Patrick Oxley at running back. I mean come on what more can you do besides play a first year 145 lb wide reciever at RB. I don't have to explain myself here. This is more than just about UC you have an obsession with the downfall of a coach. Yea you can argue about football. I am more DISAPPOINTED than anyone on how my career ended here. I would trade a winning season for ANYTHING. But let the basketball season speak for itself, just like football did. We are winning and until that changes be positive!
  11. Well, mbrooks you might be a smart guy if you knew what you were talking about. Coach Jessie played the starters a quarter and a half in the first half and the first four minutes in the 3rd quarter. The only senior that played was a kid who was playing in his first game this year and coach was just trying to get him some minutes. We never pressed in the second half, although at times we played a token full court man to man. In the locker room, Coach stated that he had been on both ends before and to show respect and class throughout the game. You are right he is an educator and he was teaching what was right in life. As for the waterboy, thanks I know I look like I was our manager. And directly for Relaxed1, you haven't ever had a single kind word for anything dealing with athletics at UC. If you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all. You more than anyone should know our basketball program has struggled in recent years, but we are 6-3 this year and in the hunt for the district. Before, you make anymore comments come watch one of our games! The only class not shown last night was from West Greene, but have they ever had any?
  12. We have the talent to win, but we are really inconsistent. The team hasn't played a solid game yet, and that says a lot because we have won on the road at Anderson County and beat a pretty good Gibbs team. We get three players back after Christmas (all forwards.) That will give us a line up that at times will be 6'0, 6'2, 6'4, 6'4, and 6'5. You don't make excuses, but in the two losses (which could very well be wins) the team combined for 4-28 from the 3 point line. With the way we depend on scoring from the backcourt, that won't win many games. I really feel the district is up for grabs. The team with the most talent does't always win. EVERY team has a chance, and the tourney will be really fun in February. However, it is really early and the regular season winner will have at least 4 losses. Just a little side note, if Cumberland Gap had the Powell Valley players from last year, that would be a very scary team!
  13. Just remember, there is still a lot of games to be played.
  14. Someone in Hancock please tell me why they got Powers for the head coaching job. He spent one year here and at Washburn, both with terrible records and now you want him. With the tradition that Hancock has, losing just does not seem like an option.
