  1. As far as atheletes goes, North Carolina has some good ones. Where I lived in Fayettville, their was a TON of atheletes. The intensity of high school football was not like it is here in Tennesse, not by a long shot.
  2. The dead preiod means that a coach cannot have any organized meetings with his players. i.e. field house closed, no organized weight lifting, ect. ec. What most teams do is meet at a gym off campus and the team has their own work-outs without any coaches present. Its a stupid rule in my opinion because of just what I stated, most kids just get together at a local gym and work out. Also know some coaches that pay a trainer to watch their kids at the gym to make sure they are actually working out, not just goofing off.
  3. I'm sure that this has already been answered but have they announced who got the head job @ William Blount?
  4. I don't think that central can beat cleveland this year, but the next 2 or three years could be a different story.
  5. Who do you pick to finish above them in the region? That region is one of the weakest 5A regions in the state. Should be a good game against McMinn to start the season off though.
  6. <_< I'll tell you why this will never happen. It would mean that the TSSAA would have to spend more money! (And we all know they don't want to do that). You may be able to convince Ronnie "Kenneth Laye" Carter but I doubt it. That is a great idea though.
  7. My top four: 1. Texas 2. Florida 3. Alabama 4. Mississippii
  8. The purple pounders looked good as well. They need a little more meat on the o-line to pass block. McMinn got some good pass rush. Central didn't have some of their best players there.
  9. The scrimmage ended with a 4/4 tie. The last central td came on the reserves. I was quite surprised at how good McMinn done. They still have some basic fundamentals to get down but I think that they will be alright. The 3-4 defense might hurt them in some situations though. But overall I was impressed.
  10. They scrimmage chatt. central tuesday and the black/gold game is thursday @ 7.
  11. I'm a little biased, but I think that McMinn County has the nicest facilities in East TN. The worse would have to go to McMinn Central. The visitors locker rooms over there are as big as my bathroom and the cattle go out to graze on the field after the game. Soddy Daisy lost some points too with the poopy field incident last year.
  12. I heard this morning that coach davis is going to help them out this spring and thats it.
  13. Hven't heard anything about mean gene going to bradley to volunteer. I agree with you though he would be a good addition. Cephus23 remember to send me your schedule. We're going to watch McMinn and Chatt. Central scrimmage tommorrow.
  14. My eligibility ran out in 95, besides my body aches from jumping out of airplanes.
  15. Bear22, why would coach ratledge not be allowed on the field? In my opinion he is a better coach than price. He doesn't try to run a dictatorship like price did. I hate bradley (I'm a McMinn fan, its kind of an unwritten rule) but I will still go and support Coach Ratledge out of respect. As for wishing they still had morris, I wish McMinn still had Robbie Brooks, but we don't so we have to go on.
  16. From what I hear, his wife doesn't want to leave. Like I've stated in earlier post, I think you should live where you coach, not a hour and a half away.
  17. A good friend of mine starts coaching at central this fall. He says they are going to be great, but I want an unbiased opinion.
  18. I'm sorry, I stand corrected. The last time I coached against you we won. Regardless I'm stupid I guess. Coach Hutchins started spring practice here last week, didn't get to practice till friday though because of the rain. I do have a question for you jeff county residents though. Is it true that coach hutchins is going to live up there and drive back and forth? If he is I don't agree with that. I think if you are a head coach (or any coach for that matter) you should live where your going to coach.
  19. How do you think that Coach Ratledge will fare @ BCHS? I think he will be successful. He was one of my coaches @ MCHS when I was in high school. I like his energy, he is deffinitely an old school coach. I wish him the best of luck (except when they play McMinn!).
  20. For all you guys in Jeff County grow up. Coach Hutchins left to be a head coach at a 5A school with a pretty good rep for being tough. Any assistant that wants to be a head coach would have to be a fool not to take that kind of offer. As for him taking a big raise, I doubt that very seriously. McMinn doesn't pay that well. And JeffCountyPatriot if I remember correctly we beat you guys up there last time we played. I will admit that it will take time to get used to not seeing John Mullinax on the sidelines, but we will give coach Hutchins a chance. And yes we will make it to the play-offs.
  21. Talking about two sports going at the same time, what about kids with jobs? I coached some kids that had to work, not for leisure money, but to help support their parents. We (the coaches) realized this kid really wanted to play so we held the weight room open for him and a few others that had to work during the usual hours. There is a tremendous resposibility for kids to make all these times and dates, but sometimes its just plain impossible. It is a sad fact that sports (football imparticlular) are year round sports. Our coaches though all get along great and no-one steps on each others toes. I do know that our basketball coach cringes whenever his star player gets tackled though!! If coaches act like humans and not like gods most times some common ground can be found.
  22. I've seen both dante hickey and levonte barber play. Levonte in my opinion is not as good as hickey. Hickey would be playing on sundays if he wasn't a thug.
  23. I think Coach Hutchins will do an excellent job. If he stays with the wing T that will be even better. I would like to see him open up with a passing attack, but I just don't think he has the QB or O-Line to do it. They have some very talented recievers, just no one to get it to them. Once he gets over the rookie jitters he will be just fine. The 1 thing that I don't agree with you on is saying John Mullinax was there too long. I happen to know Coach Mullinax very well. He won games on coaching alone with no talent what-so-ever. Also being at a school for a long period of time builds a rapor with the community. There is no telling how many families he coached i.e. father/sons, brothers, ect. I wish Coach Hutchins good luck and I will be at most games they play, especially the big 3 (Bradley, Cleveland, Ooltewah).
  24. I would hope he would keep the wing-T installed, thats what McMinn has had success with over the years and I just don't think he has the atheletes to run the power I.
  25. I know the defensive co-ordinator is leaving, possibly the lineman coach as well. From what I understand the new coach is wanting to bring in two or three assistants from Jeff. county. It will be interesting to see how well he does. He has some talented atheletes returning but QB is very questionable, especially if he is installing a pass offense. Also graduated 4 out of 5 offensive lineman.
