  1. The season will hinge on how well McMinn does against Cumberland County this year. If they loose to them then they may be looking at a 2-8 or 3-7 season. I wish them the best of luck this year and good luck to Coach D this year, he has his work cut out for him.
  2. Whats the word out of Harrison this year on the pounders? I think that if Brent Hayes can stay healthy they will have a good chance. Watch out for Bo Weiss also, he is a great O-lineman that has the ability to go to the next level. My only concern is at QB, Despaux will be hard to replace. Anyway, good luck to the pounders this fall. thumb
  3. Just to beat the same drum, it's all according to the atheletes you have. When I was at McMinn County, Coach John Mullinax ran the wing T to perfection. I can remember one series we ran the buck sweep all the way down the field then gave it to the fullback on a cutback trap. He could have done the moonwalk into the endzone and not be touched. The thing that most people don't realize with the wing T is that even though the backs have to be fast, they also must be able to block. Any back can be a blocker on any given play, versus the I formation where the fullback is the main blocker. If I had my choice of atheletes though I would run the wishbone and just physically beat my opponent down. Like I said in a perfect world that would be great.
  4. Well first thing I'm going to do is talk to the parent tomorrow night and encourage him to file a suit. If he does it will bring a lot of this mess to a head. Then some of it will have to be looked at.....if he actually goes through with it. Other than that I'm as limited as the next person when acting by myself. There's strength in numbers. Folks should unite in this cause and bring game tapes and complaints to the TSSAA by the truck load. We should demand better. We should encourage more pay to have better refs. We should demand refs be graded and those not making the grade be only assigned JV and middle school games until they improve and if they don't improve within a certain time they should be forced out. I can't do much by myself but if folks come together on this we could force change. Del. If you sue the TSSAA for throwing a fan out and denying him his 1st ammendment rights then you will look like a fool when the judge throws it out for wasting his time. That is the dumbest idea that I have ever heard. If you really want to change the way that a game is officiated then simply become an official and earn your stripes, then you can get on here and complain about how the fans won't leave you alone.
  5. I like these people that say Jujuan is a ball hog, I think that it is cute. If you care to look at the stat book I would just about bet that he leads the team in assist. If you were coaching that team would you want the Jujuan to take most of the shots or Nathan Whittle? That should be a no-brainer. Yes he does take an excessive amount of shots, but it's hard to shoot it when you have 2 or 3 people guarding you. Before you start complaining maybe you should take a look at their playbook, a majority of the plays are set up for him. Its just like in football you want to put the ball in your best players hands. Like it or not thats how it is.
  6. He has a decent supporting cast, if they will all show up to play. Even if they all bring their A game, I don't think they can win. Bradley is just to good. Bradley Central by 22.
  7. The best I have ever heard is Jonny Coffman @ McMinn County. He is very articulate and precise whenever he does a game. I helped him a few years ago and he got upset with me the 1st time I said "we" and "they". In my opinion he should be doing college radio, he is that good. Also good at football too.
  8. If you ask me they need to REALLY evaluate the football coaches!!! How do you dominate in a region then loose in the first round of the playoffs? They had the dominate team in football but couldn't get the job done. I know this is a basketball board but I had to throw my .02 in.
  9. Congrats to both Central boys and girls for their hard fought wins, both games came down to the wire. The one thing that both teams would have to agree on is that the refs were HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a pitiful excuse for officiating I've seen in awhile. Once again congrats to both central teams for their wins.
  10. To clear up any misconceptions you may have: 1. Jujuan quit football because of a difference between the new coach and himself. I do honestly believe that he could have gotten a football scholarship as well as a b-ball scholarship. (I guess the letters and phone calls from Virginia and Clemson were prank calls) 2. People seem to think that because he scores 20-45 points/game that he is a "ball hog". NOT TRUE!!!! His main problem is that the players around him cannot play to his level. Thats not a knock on McMinns players but it's the simple truth. If any of you care to look at the stat books you will see that he has ALOT of assist in every game. 3. He brings alot to the table when you play him, he is a threat from anywhere on the court. That opens up his teammates to possibilities. Just his presence in a game gives McMinn a mental boost. And if your such a GREAT football player, what happened the next week against Riverdale? Before you get on here and tout yourself as great, remember what happened to the mighty Owls this football season. You want to talk about tradition then make the playoffs 10 YEARS IN A ROW, then you can talk. Good luck to Jujuan Smith and the rest of the Cherokees, I'll be cheering for you in Athens on friday, should be a good game.
  11. 1st off to the Rebels, congradulations on a good hard fought CLEAN ball-game. To the purple pounders good job as well you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. You came into one of the most intimidating enviroments and gave the #1 ranked team in the land all the wanted. For the seniors of Chatt. Central be proud of what you have accomplished. Going from 0-10 to 8-4 and the 2nd round of the playoffs is nothing short of a miracle. To the underclassmen of Central, let that make you hungry for more, never be satisfied. It was great for the purple pounders to see that kind of hostile enviroment and not be intemidated. I have a kind of interesting story, not to ruffle any feathers though. I was with the assistant coaches in the press-box. There was 4 little girls maybe 8 years old each in front of us. They would dance and yell for the rebels all night long. Late in the game during a time out I asked them if they would yell "go pounders" for a $1.00 each just having some fun with them and their parents. The girls said "heck no" and their parents just smiled and laughed. Then out of the blue this older lady said "H*ll no they won't cheer for the purple pansies." I just chuckled to myself and thought "You have had 3 players helped off the field to our 0, who's really the pansie?" I thought that was funny, like I said not to ruffle any feathers. Good luck to the Rebels against Central.
  12. Stick to your game and let me and Coach Norwood have our fun. I've known him and will know him ALOT longer than you will. And if you don't play for Chatt. Central the boys (especially the coaches) really wish you would quit coming on here.
  13. No, I'm not an official coach, just go there on Fridays and chart plays and help them out. I used to coach with Coach Norwood and Mullinax @ McMinn.
  14. Mullinax is a piece of trash just like his buddy norwood! They couldn't coach a group of 12 year olds! I'm just kidding I love them both, me and Mullinax have been best friends since we were 5 years old.
  15. Don't you mean 7-0? Get your stats right OR "fan".
  16. I'm not your friend, I hate your guts! And that goes for that slob you have for a roommate too. Happy 40-11 birthday. See you Friday in the 'ville.
  17. How can you say he is a "mastermind"? You have ran the same plays ALL YEAR with the exception of the option that was put in a few weeks ago. It's either draw to Medlock, draw to Davenport, or keep by Despaux. Every once and awhile you throw it or run the option, but rarely. I will give him credit on this, his punt block is awsome! I do have one more question though, how do you stunt on offense? Good luck to the pounders.
  18. I think that Maryville and Chatt. Central match up pretty well athelete wise. The difference will be offensive line play and pure old fashioned coaching. Neither team can rely purely on atheletes, they're too many on each team. Best of luck to both teams, but I will be pulling for the pounders.
  19. 1ST off let me say that I hope that McMinn does great during the postseason. That being said I would have to disagree with you on the "greatest senior class in years" statement. In my opinion it's a tie between the class of 99 and 2001. The 99 team didn't have that much talent but won alot of games on heart alone. In my opinion you don't judge high school senior classes by the # of scholarships that are handed out, you judge them on leadership and character, both on and off the field. Don't get me wrong I think that this years seniors are great, but not the "greatest". I would also like to take a minute to congradulate Coach Hutchins and his staff for the year they have had. He took over one of the hardest jobs in coaching, taking over for a legend. He has kept the winning tradition up, which is hard to do for a first year head coach. My hats off to you coach and your assistants, good luck in the playoffs.
  20. Dude what are you smoking? McMinn is one of the best teams in the area! I think you meant to say that McMinn will win by 35. Sorry but maybe in a couple of years when Coach Ratledge gets the players back that Price ran off, but definitly not this year.
  21. McMinn County has a new coach, McMinn Central still has Danny Williams. And you haven't missed anything by not seeing Central lose.
  22. I think it would be a bunch of bull if Davenport doesn't win the 4A player of the week. He ran over Ooltewah and made them like it.
  23. what did he do? I know when SD played McMinn a few years ago in the playoffs that he made a fool of himself.
  24. O.k. you want hard numbers here goes: 1. I didn't really want to say this but Central hasn't played anyone yet. Yes Davenport will get some yards rushing, but not 200. 2. Despeaux has alot of rushing yards, but ask him how many of the plays he runs on are actual called running plays not passing. I will PROMISE you it's not very many. 3. Your right this isn't the usual Ooltewah team of late, but good coaches find ways to win with average players. Heck John Mullinax did it at McMinn from 1984-2002. Oh and by the way, I talk to 2 of Centrals coaches EVERY night and get the scoop on them, so I know what team I'm watching. I do think that the pounders will win but your under the impression that Ooltewah will just roll over and play dead and I'm here to tell you thats not the case.
