If you give 1oo%, then you'll never lose. At this point, everyone is 0-0 except for those who are already figuring on losing. You can read into that, but I bet MJ is working on winning.

The "Moose" man will have them up and running good soon. Talked with Davy boy this weekend and said he's helping old pop out and really enjoys the kids. Totally different worlds from here and there and hope they are successful. Good luck old dog or should I say "Old Moose."

I don't know any team in any state that doesn't run some sort of wing, balance/unbalance, power game, spread, I, and trick plays. Lets throw in special teams, a prevent defense, 7 man front defense, split look, even front, or just no defense at all with the way some of these offenses are scoring. Must have PLAYERS and control. We've been there, seen it, and beat it. Also, lost to it at times. Nature of the business.

Conditioning and strengrh are important, but it doesn't make the team on Friday nights. Thats HEART!!! The teams that win seem to have a few athletes and the rest of the team succeed because they have heart and grit. Thats your team make-up most of the time and then there 's team chemistry. The rest will takes it's place. But notice the word TEAM. Key.

Kermite, good to see you're still alive. Don't forget Ron "Moose" Marshall whose Defensive was the bomb at Lebanon in the early 90's and Jackie Kelly at Westmoreland. His teams destroyed Cannon Co. back in the mid- to late 90's and recently in the same district. When has Cannon Co. had football tradition? Starts with Administration making the hire, community supporting the program, and players saying either yes sir or no sir (you're gone buddy).

Most of the people on these boards are coaches and trash talkers. I know schools waste a lot of money for things they really don't need. I would even say there will be jobs to fill in three weeks when most schools will be scrambling to find new personel because others have either retired or are planning to go to greener pastures (so they think). My goodness, you'll lose some to near by Rutherford Co. Those positions can be filled with new teachers/coaches, but some will be filled with new teachers right out of college because their family has ties to the area or live in cannon co. Who ever you hire, they need the tools to win--PLAIN-N-SIMPLE. As far as the coach from Northwest, we have played them the last four years (I believe he's been the head coach 2 or 3 of those years). They do not have the athletes you think they do and his administration isn't very supportive of football based on the number of assist. coaches and their facilities. Just my opinion. If you want to build a strong program, then make the right calls.

Sorry, but the football program does start witht the Principle and AD. They must hire the perfect fit for the football program. They need to hire the head coach and give him the tools to succeed. Allow that coach to bring in 3 or 4 of his own people since there are no coaches there in the hall ways. If you need to create positions for them, do it. If you do not do this, you are wasting everyone's time and money. I'm tired of hearing the same old crap from unsuccessful programs. It's usually not the coaches fault when he is not given the tools to work with. Look at the winning programs. Oakland hires McDaniels--brings in old and new staff (around 12 coaches) and gave the guy the tools to succeed. WOW!!! STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!! 14-1 record!!!! When Rankin was at Riverdale--(around 20 coaches, many of them volunteers to get experience) WOW!!! 3 or 4 State Championships and in clinic bowl every year (sure does seem like it). Cannon Co. is smaller, but allow 6 coaches and the tools to work with and see what happens in 2 to 3 years. I'm not saying a quick turn-around, but a start.

Great guy. Coached with Shock for three years and he knew football well. The kids responded well to him. He help keep things interesting and was always fun to be around. I wish his family well. Every sporting event I've been to in H.S. athletics has started with a prayer and ended with a prayer. I PRAY that it continues.

I coached with coach Carter 1 year. He is a VERY good coach. I really do not know who the coach is now, but if he's anything like coach Carter there will be no BS. There may be better talent walking the halls, but there is usually a reason they're not playing. Maybe too much baggage or PARENTAL input. That causes TEAM problems and it's usually best they aren't on the team. Support the girls who are on the team and want to be on a team that is run correctly.

I know if I went to Oakland I would see more than two!
