  1. I couldn't agree with you more. Whether it's flagged or not, I'm tired of seeing players (at every level of the game) get up and pound their chests or run their mouths after a big play, and sometimes even after routine plays. Don't flatter yourself. Get back to the huddle and do it on the next play. The fact that Warren got flagged is not as big of an issue to me as the fact that he did anything that could be construed as an unsportmanlike celebration in anyone's judgment. Jerry Rice holds nearly every receiving record in the NFL and Barry Sanders is one of the top 3 or 4 RBs to ever to play the game. What did they do after a touchdown? Toss the ball to the ref, maybe high-five a teammate, and trot off the field. Today's athletes need to take note...
  2. Milan most definitely did NOT "control" the game. Milan did control the 3rd quarter (I'll grant you that) and played exectionally well in the 4th quarter (barring a couple of plays), but the Stangs dominated the first half and made the big plays in clutch situations in the 4th quarter. As I heard a couple Milan men say at halftime: "We're lucky to only be down by 3." Huntingdon fumbled inside the 20 which led to the first touchdown, and (DISCLAIMER: I hate making this next argument as much as you hate hearing it) on the 60+ yard run that set up the second TD, Huntingdon's safety lost his feet as he was stepping up to make the hit (reminiscent of Jonathan Wade @ Notre Dame). I know that's a lame argument and that his not slipping may not have altered the play at all, but nevertheless it's something to thing about. I must agree that this was a great "rebuilding" year for Milan, and an exceptional game by both teams...it's in my top two or three all-time.

    2A Gold Ball

It's like deja vu all over again.
  4. mustang7105, your attitude is the kind that makes people on here hate huntingdon.
  5. Well let's just put at end to our bickering once and for all: Week 7: Huntingdon didn't play their best. Week 14: Milan didn't play their best. It's just not cool to finally win a state championship and then listen to people tell you that you shouldn't have. But I know that Milan heard the same thing in '98. ...and with that, our feud is over.
  6. Who's to say that Milan's week 7 victory over Huntingdon wasn't more of an off-week by the Mustangs (they had at least two or more uncharacteristic turnovers in their loss) than a superior performance by the Dawgs? I'm telling you what...a team beats three consecutive undefeated teams en route to a one loss championship season and people are still telling them that they probably shouldn't have won it. p.s. Hunnington (you meant Huntingdon)??? LOL. HAHAHA. Good one.
  7. I think Swenson moved Hampton out of the QB position b/c he's left-handed; at least that's what I was told back when he was a freshman. If we have someone like Crocker who can step in and be there for three years, I'd say leave Scott at DB/WR. I don't expect him to play QB at all.
  8. After reading all week of the doom that awaited Huntingdon in 2A championship game, I had a good laugh when I re-read some of the posts. It is not my intention to call anyone out or to belittle the DL program or its fans (for truly a great majority of them are good, respectful people), I just thought that the following were all quite ironic: TheLeech --- Huntingdon definitely does not have the coaching or the physical ability of DL. DL 35 H 6 --- …an extremely strong team that WILL NOT BE STOPPED --- come witness the embarrassment --- After further review... i changed my mind and i think DL is in for a big surprise friday night. Gerry Bertier --- David Lipscomb-42 Huntingdon-7. This one could get ugly if Huntingdon isn't prepared to play. Huntingdon hasn't seen anyone like Lipscomb all year. --- The only way there will be a woodshed beating in this game is if Lipscomb hands it out. I have seen both teams play this year and if Lipscomb executes then hands down they will win. Huntingdon has a good team but there is no doubt that Lipscomb is one of the top 15 programs in the state. milandawg21 --- DL is probably going to hold them to negative yards DL 56 HUNTINGDON 0 accarp2614 --- Once again, as I've said all year long, Lipscomb is in a world all its own. Not only will they win the state, they will win by double didgets. twittycanes --- If Huntingdon tries to depend on being able to run off tackle like they did against Milan, trust me it wont work. --- Huntingdon will break a few here & there but their running backs will not break past our line & linebackers much. urbancowboy --- i don't even think this is even going to be game. once again the lipscomb mustangs will blow out yet another team that can't play with them, and recieve another state championship ring. [about Bell and Mr. Football] --- i guess that no one thought your guy deserved it. stop cryin about it,and we'll see if he can prove himself on friday nite, and who knows, he might even become more popular. Catfish72 --- lets be realistic here, DL is on another level that Hunt. be honest with yourself --- lipscomb blows this one out --- i just know the facts, DL is the best 2A team in the state and these morons need to open their eyes --- i know my facts and you all should face them too. DL is one of the best teams to ever play 2A ball --- hunt has no shot in this game gark242 --- DL is simply too much to handle…DL- 44 (6TD's and a safety) Hunt- 12 --- Lipscomb is by far the best team in 2A and probably one of the top 4 or 5 teams in all classifications…there is no way DL will be beat in this game unless there is some CAK-Cloudland miracle CONGRATULATIONS TO LIPSCOMB ON A FINE YEAR AND A GREAT RUN. AND CONGRATS TO THE HUNTINGDON MUSTANGS: 2003 AA STATE CHAMPIONS
  9. Hey, Mark, did you read the entire post? p.s. Thanks for gettin' my back and clarifying, duckman.
  10. LOL. Next time you bump into Coach Mansfield tell me how much of his body composition is fat. I've seen the man rep 315 lbs. ten times without clenching his teeth. It looked like he was just warming up.
  11. That's just what I figured. It made victory 10x sweeter, huh?
  12. Did anyone give the Dawgs a chance in '98 against DL?
  13. westtn2004state Posted: Nov 25 - 11:42 PM westtn2004state Posted: Nov 25 - 04:50 PM You're right, dcw. I don't blame him for not giving out a name. It's the smart thing to do. westtn2004state, I'll drop the subject if you'll just answer me one question: Do you get a lot of playing time or do you rotate in / play special teams?
  14. Tell me this much then: do you get significant playing time or are you in the rotation or play special teams or whatever. That shouldn't give away your ID enough that people would figure you out. p.s. Forty is about twice my age too.
