  1. I agree on the track and stadiums, but it is still a burden/disadvantage from a coaching standpoint. Those places are definitely the best places to watch a game.
  2. I am going there because it is a factor in getting a “big name” coach and absolutely contributes to Gallatin’s lack of success over the last 25 years. Look at the have’s versus the have not’s in high school football in the last couple decades. There are very few inner city schools succeeding at the state level and most schools continually at the top come from upper tier socioeconomic communities. Gallatin is not necessarily inner city, but the area the school now pulls from is lacking compared to those now at the top. There are other factors as well, including an intrusive booster club who meddles. Ask any coach if an off campus stadium is an issue and they will all say yes. My school also has an off site stadium and it is a huge disadvantage compared to a true on campus home game. I would be interested to know if your experiences are the same as the kids nowadays as far as the rides to games and community support. I bet their views would be much different than yours. It sounds as if you were around during Gallatin’s “glory days.” It must have been a really cool time. I grew up hearing how Gallatin was the standard in this area of the state, but I never saw them do anything in the post season. My point in all this is most people my age and younger do not think there is anything special about Gallatin football. It can rise up again, but it takes true support from the community and not token support on a website. It also takes everyone backing the players, administration, and staff wholeheartedly, which I think is a huge problem from what I see and hear from Gallatin supporters.
  3. You all keep telling yourselves that and it is bound to be true. Gallatin does have its nicer parts, but they are in the Station Camp zone. Gallatin High School and Gallatin, TN are not one and the same. I know teachers in all of these schools and the ones at Gallatin are far more derogatory of their work environment and the kids they have to deal with. The truth hurts sometimes I guess. Gallatin’s stadium is nice, but also off campus. That is a problem in my opinion. I don’t doubt that certain supporters want Gallatin football to succeed, but the question is will they offer support without trying to control and get their way?
  4. Man you guys are beasts in the regular season. Keep pounding your chest on that accomplishment if it makes you feel better. Creasy was far from a “big name” 7 years ago. He was at a 1A program for crying out loud and applying for every 5A/6A job he could cause he knew Trousdale was about to have a run with a huge talent drop off. He was not a popular hire at Oakland when that happened either. Not to mention he has taken far superior talent to anyone in the state at Oakland and continues to choke in the playoffs. Beech was a smaller rural school until about 10 years ago. The growth in the county has been in that area along with Station Camp. This has caused both schools to grow and in Beech’s case come into their own as a football school. When Gallatin was dominating Beech, they were at a talent disadvantage and had 500 fewer students. The growth has brought more athletes and a better support system as far as money goes. Beech has beaten Gallatin 7 years in a row and last lost in 2011. Just so you know, Beech still advanced further than Gallatin that year in the playoffs. As far as zoning goes, I don’t know where the lines are drawn. I do know this, I would much rather my kids go to Beech, Hendersonville, or Station Camp when comparing the conditions of each school. The fact is the zones Gallatin pulls from are not where anyone wants to live or move to any longer. Let’s see who all applies then you can tell me if I know what I am talking about or not. Good luck next regular season, because we all know Gallatin will be a no show come playoff time.
  5. Show me where I said they wouldn’t be good again...I am waiting. I simply said your pipe dream of getting an established “big name” Coach is not realistic. I did say Beech and Hendersonville were both better programs right now and would be for the foreseeable future. Gallatin has athletes, but so does everyone else in 5A/6A. That is the key. Gallatin used to have an edge in that area, now that is not the case. If you really want Gallatin to be successful, get off Coacht, don’t run your mouth about the program, and support whoever the administration hires no questions asked. I am saying that in general terms and not necessarily directly to you.
  6. I am 36 years old and I can’t remember Gallatin being a major player for a state championship. I was 10 in 1992 and vaguely remember that championship. Since 1992, Gallatin has not been to the semifinals or finals in football. Let that sink in. It has been a quarter of a century since Gallatin was relevant from a state championship perspective. You guys keep talking about these “great” regular seasons and even who you scrimmaged. That alone tells me the program is not as “great” as it was in the Pre 90’s era. Playoff wins and championships are all that matters. I understand tradition, but the fact is anybody 35 years old or younger can’t remember Gallatin being anything more than a mediocre program with a few good regular seasons. Gallatin has changed a great deal since 1992 and the fact is it is not a desired location for any “big name” Coach. Beech and Hendersonville are both better jobs than Gallatin and the zones they pull from will keep it that way for the foreseeable future.
  7. From what I have heard, the principal is running the search. He has reached out to several high quality candidates and has been turned down. Those names include: Maynard, Gentry, and Chad Watson. I don’t think any established head coach is going to want this job. The talent level at Smith has dropped considerably and there doesn’t appear to be much coming up from the Jr High. They have several quality guys on staff. Jason Harville is a great person and very good coach. Not sure if he is interested or not. If they go outside, Goolsby or Matt Dyer would be guys I would reach out to.
  8. The kids at Gallatin would eat him alive. No way he is the coach. If he would have lost to Watertown last week, he was gone from TC.
  9. I can’t say he wants to be Gallatin's head coach, but I can promise you he didn’t leave a HC position to go be an assistant for the rest of his life. He would be a great fit for what Gallatin needs. This position probably came open much quicker than he thought it would, so I can see him not being interested right now especially out of respect for Williams. Make no mistake about it, he has head coaching aspirations at some point in the future and that was the goal of leaving Macon for Gallatin to begin with.
  10. Movement is the name of the game in athletics nowadays. Keith would be a good hire for Smith. I can promise Smith wouldn’t find a more passionate guy and with his connections he could help keep the Smith County kids in Carthage instead of going to Gville. This job is not what it used to be and someone like Keith may be the perfect candidate to build enthusiasm at the school and get the numbers back up.
  11. I don’t know who it is for either team, but Beech has consistently had a strong OL. If that guy is interested tell him to apply. Who coaches OL at Beech?
  12. Why the animosity towards Nathan? You are a typical Trousdale guy. He has a winning record against you all and not many head coaches can say that. He would coach circles around Waggoner. Y’all are winning this year in spite of him. Gallatin had skill talent this year, but their line was subpar. I saw the Beech game and they manhandled Gallatin upfront. Gallatin’s lack of discipline is the number one thing that needs fixing before they return to being a contender in 5A/6A.
  13. Not sure why Wilson wouldn’t be an option. He won at Macon County, which is something most others couldn’t do. He did this competing with inferior talent to the metro teams/Springfield he was paired in the region with. With the athletes Gallatin has, his system would be fun to watch. He was on staff at Gallatin one year, so not real sure that is a big issue. His whole reason for going to Gallatin was to get experience in a larger program and get a head coaching job in the 5A/6A classification. Gallatin would be lucky to have him from a discipline standpoint and I believe he could get the job done and return Gallatin back to prominence. For what Gallatin has in athletes, they lack in discipline.
  14. If TC plays to their ability, they win this game. I still believe they are the best team in 2A top to bottom. With that being said, is Waggoner on the first train out of town if TC is bounced in the second round?
  15. I am feeling pretty good about my analysis on this one. The Wildcats have a legit shot at the Region championship. Maplewood will be a tall task in a couple of weeks, but all in all a home playoff game has got to make the Tullahoma faithful happy.
  16. Geo gets carried away from time to time, but I like his enthusiasm. Macon is not the favorite to win the region, but if they keep improving, we have a chance in every ballgame we play other than Upperman. Geo you should be proud of 37. He is not the biggest or strongest, but he is proof that hard work and sticking with something can lead to success.
  17. Because the rain led to two quick scores for TC. That put Macon in a hole and forced them to try and do some things that were never going to work. It completely changed the gameplan. TC had a huge advantage up front. Typically in a rain event, the team that is bigger/stronger up front will have an advantage. Macon was not blowing TC off the ball early on, but using the FB almost like a guard to create angles and kick out defensive lineman. He was lined up closer to the QB than normal to do this. This also prevented the TC linebackers from reading guards and kept them on their heels for awhile. Once Macon got down 14-0, this game plan went away and they started to take some shots in the passing game. This led to some sacks and negative plays. I hope that explains it better.
  18. Trust me, I am well aware of that. I am sure the MC gameplan will be very similar. I have stated a few times, that TC has a run of talent where they could win 2-3 championships in a row. I am a TC fan when they don’t play Macon, but I am concerned TC isn’t coming around to what I thought they would be. I honestly thought 15-0 was a strong possibility and that TC would blow almost everyone out. The defense has been really good, but the offense just hasn’t seemed to click. Maybe 8 will solve that issue. I personally think you miss your WR from last year. He was solid and always seemed to make a play in the throw game when you needed it. I don’t see that WR type guy out there this year. Someone will have to fill that role for TC to get where I thought they would which is a gold ball.
  19. Thanks! We all know TC was the better team, but I would have liked to have seen the rain hold off just to see if Macon could have pulled off the gameplan for 48 minutes and kept the game closer than it ended up being. Shoulders doesn’t have a lot of talent at his disposal, but the boys are playing hard. That is enough for me. Macon is not some football dynasty like TC is and will never be. I like for us to be competitive and win a few games against teams we match up with. Shoulders had a great gameplan tonight and I was pleasantly surprised we were able to perform as well as we did. I thought 50 or 60-0 was a possibility.
  20. Absurdity? I think it is absurd anyone can say a 0-0 game went to 14-0 in 4 minutes due to a blocked punt and fumble but the rain had no bearing on that. It just isn’t a logical conclusion. We will need some luck on our side to win many more games, but I am proud of the boys and coaches for the way they fought tonight. Good luck to TC! I hope 8 is your answer, as I would love to come watch TC late in the playoffs. I just don’t know that will happen and if it doesn’t, it will be a huge disappointment for what this TC team is capable of.
  21. Nope, I have never hinted that Macon had a chance in this game. Hats off to TC for being prepared for the rain. Their team is setup for success on a wet field. I guess that is why it didn’t affect them the way it did Macon. Glad you agree with me.
  22. Glad you finally agree the wet field was not good for Macon tonight!
  23. For the game they do. I am not comparing the entire game, I am comparing a dry field to a wet field. When the conditions were dry, Macon moved the ball and the score was 0-0. After the rain, they did nothing. So to once again back up my original post, the rain affected Macon much worse than it did TC. The stats seem to back that up. If it doesn’t rain in the first half, the score is 7-0 at worst going into halftime.
  24. You are assuming you get the ball back after you score. Macon could have moved the ball like they did the first two drives, ate up some clock, and kept it a 7-0 game instead of fumbling. I have made the offer to watch the film with anyone on here to illustrate my point. Rain is part of the game no doubt, but if you go back to my original comment, I was responding to someone who said the RADIO said the weather was a factor. So I wasn’t the only one that noticed that.
  25. I will not disagree with you on that, but the talent advantage TC has on Macon is not close. To be honest, it probably wasn’t real close last year. Macon had the best player, but TC has athletes all over the field and was overall much more talented. I thought TC was going to take that next step this year and return TC to the top. I just don’t see it. 8 may be that guy, but what happens if he comes back and gets injured? Macon couldn’t have overcome that if it happened to Carlisle. TC should be just fine without 8. They are still a very good team without him, but not a state title contender from what I have seen. That surprises me, because the talent is there with or without 8.
