  1. As I understand things, as long as you coach your athletes at an off-site facility and the practices are not mandatory, you will be able to coach them.
  2. I did not understand the OP as asking about a dead period. Ouside of the dead period, I can spend all the time that I want in the weight room, running, cycling, etc with my wrestlers as long as we don't set foot in a wrestling room. During a dead period, the rules are different.....no contact.
  3. The way that it is explained to coaches makes the issue really simple. You, as a coach, control three things - yourself, your wrestlers, and your facility. In the off-season, any two of those three things can occur. You can coach your athletes at an offsite facility. Someone else can coach your athletes at your home school. You can coach other athletes (like a kids club) at your facility. So, a coach would be fine running a kids club out of the HS wrestling room until one of his HS athletes showed up to practice. At that point, a violation occurred. Please, notice that I said "showed up to practice" and not that the athlete showed up to help instruct young wrestlers. I hope that it's clear. Just stick to the three-things rule when you look at a situation - you, your kids, and your facility. Any two can occur.
  4. Except they are saying that when you are on your back, your shoulders are your supporting parts, not your feet. Which is right?
  5. So to clear it up in a summary for this knuckle-dragging coach..... No pin because the shoulders of one wrestler (the pinned) and the feet of the other wrestler (the pinner) were out of bounds?
  6. This is actually an interesting debate. I learn new stuff all the time.
  7. TSSAA gets 18% of the gate but I have never heard of an entry fee to wrestle in regionals.

  13. I'll get them posted when I get back to school on Tuesday.
  14. If I recall correctly, Bo lost in the finals of a tournament in Parkland North Carolina that year. It's been a while though and Coach Price would be the best person to answer that question. I believe the score was 2-1 if that rings a bell CP.
  15. Can't see the private message. Sorry.

  16. Can't see the private message. Sorry.

  17. Yeah...let's go back to the land of no coolers in the arena, $10 hot dogs, hard to see match boards, and no parking at all. This is a great idea. I see your logic now........um, no, well...actually....I don't. This arena is better than anything anyone else in the state has offered so far.
  18. There is no discussion with the devil logo. It's our logo. I would stop before this gets to be a rumor. There is one going around with the devil head over the top of a "G" with no horns that looks really sharp. I like the hunter green better. Didn't play much football but I don't ever want to see those kelly green wrestling singlets again. We looked like green beans....especially with the tights that were popular in the 80s. Good luck Devils. Stay focused each week and we will be bringing home gold again.
  19. The date is January 14, 2012. Teams are: Greeneville Volunteer Hixson Tuscola, NC Franklin, NC Farragut West Greene Chuckey-Doak Elizabethton Happy Valley Cocke Co. Morristown-West Orange, NC Hardin Valley Sullivan South Karns We medal through 8 and plaques for the top 4 teams.
  20. As far as I know, the kid can still get an education and make something out of himself. Football has nothing to do with that.
  21. We have openings for two teams in this year's GIT. Please e-mail me at sheltonr@gcschools.net if you have any questions or want to claim one of the spots. We place 1-8 with semifinalists guaranteed 1st through 4th. We try to get everyone 5 good matches and get out by 7:00. Not a lot of breaks, just wrestling. Thanks, Randy Shelton Greeneville Wrestling
  22. Honestly, I would do whatever is best for my athletes and not worry about what people on Coacht and at West Greene thought about me. If that means warming up at Greeneville or UT, then so be it. His job is to win football games.....not hand out candy and nuts so we can all feel warm and fuzzy. Again, I don't know where they warmed up but they were ready to play when the game started 6 minutes early so that's all the matters.
  23. You don't start a thread with "How many yards can Boles get?" and then sit back like you didn't expect a flame war. He's a good kid and a good running back....he can thank the WGHS fans for putting that big ole target on his back with this thread. Coach Case is doing a great job with West Greene and that should be good enough but, for some reason, it's not good enough for his own fans. As far as Greeneville's "money man".....last time I checked he had bought stuff for West Greene, Chuckey-Doak, North Greene, South Greene, Greeneville, Happy Valley, Tusculum College, Johnson City Medical Center, and many other smaller donations that are too numerous to list. There was no "money man" when the football coaches were grading and leveling the field by hand in the 80's. Or Coach Keicher mowing and painting so it would be perfect. That field was built by coaches....I mean it, Coach Sorrells and his staff graded, leveled, and sodded the entire field by hand. So, don't insult those men with your bull-crap. Ohhhhh.....pretty turf. The foundation that the rug sits on was laid down with love, sweat, hard work, dedication, and desire for something better. You doubt me? Go ask Sorrells, Franklin, O'dell, Hollowell, Blair and see if you get by with that crap.
