  1. Wilson Central hosted Gallatin on Tuesday night (9/7) sweeping the match 3-0. Wilson Central won 25-14, 25-11, 25-5. The JV also won their match 2-0. Last night WC visited District and cross-town rival Mt. Juliet. They also swept them 3-0 (25- 15, 25- 19, 25- 17). JV lost their match 2-0. Wilson Central current has an overall record 12-2, District record 4-0. Next district match is at Portland on Monday (9/13). This weekend is the annual WC Fall Fling at Central. 16 teams are participating and matches start tonight (Friday) at 4pm.
  2. It's currently at 12-2 (4-0 District) after last night's match (9/10/10)
  3. Although HS season has barely begun (and is almost 1/2 through...but that's another topic) some clubs are already holding/planning informational sessions. Please post those in that forum when they become available. http://www.coacht.com/boards/index.php/forum/77-volleyball-travel-teams/ Thanks!
  4. Been out of town for about a week -- gotta love being able to take a vacation during volleyball season Smyrna Bulldog Bash -- WC went 6-2 for weekend losing in the semi-finals to Hume Fogg 2 games to 1 Started District 9AAA play on Aug 31 beating Station Camp in 3 (25-12, 25-13, 25-8) Finished the week against county rival Lebanon on Sept 2 winning 3 straight (25-17, 25-17, 25-18).
  5. In 9AAA Wilson Central opened their season with a home match against Friendship Christian and an away game at Smyrna (Monday and Tuesday). WC vs FCS WC in 3 27-25, 25-18, 25-18 WC vs Smyrna WC in 3 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 On tap for the weekend, Smyrna Bulldog Bash. Analysis: WC lost 2 strong seniors last year, including a 4 year varsity setter. They have a very young team, with just 2 seniors again this year (Wiseman and Pavin). Joining those seniors on the court are 2 juniors (Hinson and Cook), 4 sophomores (Bowers, Demonbreun, Roberts and Stallings. Stallings is injured and out for the season) and a freshman (Wiseman, younger sister of senior OH). They are still tweaking positions and rotations with setting duties being split by a senior (last year's libero, Pavin) and a Jr (first year varsity, Hinson). They lost a talented sophomore, Stallings, at OH due to an ACL tear at the the Brentwood team camp. The big question mark this year has been setting but with left-handed Pavin playing right side, WC seems to have it covered. Should be an interesting season in 9AAA.
  6. Please add to this list.... Alliance 161 -- 16 Open Alliance 151 -- 15 American Alliance 141 -- 14 National Nashville One 161 -- 16 American Who else qualified?
  7. For qualifying in OPEN this weekend at the Big South Qualifier in Atlanta. Although I wasn't there I understand it was a great final match against Rockwood Thunder -- complete with blackout on game point -- with Alliance coming away with third place overall and a bid to Junior National this summer in Reno, NV.
  8. http://www.tennessean.com/comments/arti ... 20357/%3Ci There are errors on class year for some players on the second and third teams: Second Team: Kristin Johnson, Senior (listed as Soph) Chelsea Ferron, Senior (listed as Fr) Third Team: Molly Locke, Sophomore (listed as Sr) Kristen Sharp, Senior (listed as Jr) Congratulations to all named!
  9. I believe that all Tennessee tryouts are complete and 11/10 was the first day a club can ask for a commitment (per SRVA). How did it go? According to a friend who lives in Huntsville, Rocket City had tryouts on Saturday, posted teams on Sunday and will have their first team meeting this coming Saturday. How impressive is THAT? As for me, I saw this... the good: lots and lots of girls are planning to play ball this club season the bad: the stress of waiting to see teams posted the ugly: even at the 18s level, some girls look like they just decided "hey, why don't we go try to play volleyball" Looking forward to seeing you all this season.
  10. I'm sorry and this may be stupid but we're talking about football? We now move games because it MIGHT rain? I don't understand. It's football. Do we not play in the rain anymore? Geez, I grew up where it SNOWED and we played. Since when do we move games because it might rain?

  12. Sorry, I put this post in the wrong place last night...I'd had too much volleyball... Alliance Volleyball Club (formerly Impact and Select clubs) will hold informational meetings on the following Sundays: 9/27, 10/4 and 10/25 at A-Game Sportplex in Cool Springs at 5:30pm. 13. Sounds like an awesome game tonight. Congratulations to Siegel. You might want to leave the airhorns home though (airhorns? really?...I can't believe the refs let that kind of behavior stand...) From the TSSAA handbook, revised Sept 11, 2009 I. GENERAL REGULATIONS (Division I: Class A, AA, AAA; Division II) C. During regular-season play no air horns, cow bells or individual type noise makers will be allowed. VI. GENERAL TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS A. No air horns, cow bells, or individual type noise makers will be allowed at district, regional, sectional, or state tournaments.
  14. Visiting Wilson Central swept Mt Juliet in 3 tonight, bringing their district record to 13-0 (37-5 overall). Just one more district match for the regular season, Thursday night at Portland.
  15. Tonight was Senior Night at Wilson Central and the gym was packed. What a nice tribute it was for our 2 seniors to have a full house tonight since today marked the beginning of the 2-week fall break. White County was a tough, defensive team that seemed to dig up everything we hit at them but in the end Wilson Central, with the help of a gym full of fans, prevailed. Wilson Central finishes up their district season this week with tomorrow night's match against Mt Juliet and Thursday night at Portland.
  16. Wilson Central improved to 12-0 in District 9AAA tonight with a win over Lebanon. JV won their match also. Monday night is our last home game and Senior Night against White County.
  17. Here are the stats as recorded for Wilson Central: Assists: 31 Kills: 45 Blocks: 6 Digs: 10 Aces: 2 As you can see, the stats are nothing special. The rallies in the final game were LONG and usually ended on an error (don't they ALL?). I don't keep the dig stats, they do seem a little low to me based on the game I watching but truly the play didn't get tough until the score got to 25-25. All that said, it was a really fun game to watch and the girls said they had a blast playing it.
  18. Tonight Wilson Central hosted Blackman for what would end up being the longest volleyball set I have ever witness in the 10+ I've been watching HS volleyball. After Wilson Central walked away with the first set, 25-14, Blackman fought hard the second set but lost 21-25. The third set, however, was one for the records books. Both teams played phenomenally. Balls thought to be dead, were dug up. Blocked balls were picked up. Tips were picked up. Every time one team thought they had it bagged, the point would go the other way. Final set ended 37-35 for Wilson Central. Truly the longest set I've ever watched and every minute was agony
  19. Wilson Central opened a four night home game stand on Monday, downing Gallatin 3-0. On Tuesday, WC took on Beech and continued their streak with another 3-0 win. Wednesday night we host Blackman for non-district play and finish out the week at home against Lebanon. District 9AAA Record: 11-0 Overall Record: 33-5
  20. All, It is that time of year again when HS ball is winding down and club ball is gearing up. Please post your club's tryout and/or information meeting schedules here. It's easy, start a new topic, name it with your club's name, and post the info. Last year we had the info for clubs all over the state and would like to provide this once again. If you have any questions or need help posting, please contact me directly. Play4Keeps@gmail.com
  21. I have often wondered if some schools put their volleyball matches so early because they think that students will stay late to watch. Perhaps they are considering the homework load and trying to get girls out early? Our district has JV games at 5pm and Varsity at 6pm with few exceptions. If varsity didn't play at 6pm we wouldn't even have parents in attendance. Our district is wide-spread with teams traveling up to an hour away for a match. We usually have a pretty good crowd for varsity matches including students who come back to watch and fellow athletes finishing up their afternoon workouts. Of course, starting at 6pm means that many nights we don't get home until 9pm -- home matches maybe by 8 if we win in 3 Has anyone had a positive experience with early matches? If ours were at 4pm we lose our entire crowd.
  22. With HS season at the mid-point and winding down -- club season is gearing up. Please visit the Travel Volleyball Forum for all the information about clubs around the state -- tryout dates, websites, etc. Club directors, please post your tryout information to the Travel Volleyball forum -- everyone is welcome! Thanks! P4K
  23. I have moved this topic (and ghosted it here) to the Club forum. I hope that will direct people to the appropriate spot. P4K
  24. Wilson Central continued it's quest for the District 9AAA title tonight, downing Station Camp in 3. We also had a VIP in the house, the honorable Coach T, himself, made an appearance at our match tonight. Next stop Hendersonville on Thursday, with the Franklin/Ravenwood tournament this weekend. District record: 8-0 Overall record: 25-3
