  1. Wilson Central rolled on through the district again tonight in a very exciting match between two who wanted badly to be first in 9AAA. Portland gave us a great match, digging just about everything we could throw at them. I will edit this post tomorrow with the stats. Tonight marked the half-way point for our district with Central coming out as the undisputed leader at 7-0 (district) and 18-2 (overall)...haven't lost a set or match in the district.

  7. Can we post these Middle School announcement in the http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/boards/viewforum.php?f=92 Middle School forum please? There has been confusion in the past when they are posted on the High School forum and Coach T would prefer that they be posted in the appropriate place. Thanks!
  8. Well written. I can pretty much agree with everything you've written. I guess my issue was with the title of the thread "Does Impact control Williamson Co volleyball"...seems to be better stated, based on your post "Does Club Volleyball control Williamson Co volleyball" and the answer would be a resounding YES. One more reason I'm glad to be in Wilson County /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Not that we don't have OUR problems...just check out the Girls Basketball forum
  9. Which Impact coaches, exactly, are placed in the high schools? As far as I can tell, Troy Helton coached just this past season at Impact...first year for him. (and he seems to be your primary target these days) So who else? I can probably name most (if not all) the coaches of Impact's National and travel level teams...not many HS coaches among them. Which teams are made up from High Schools? Every one of my daughter's teams (since 2000) from 13U through 18U have represented at LEAST 5 different high schools. Sometimes there are 2 or 3 players from a single school but don't recall more than that...ever. I don't live in Williamson County and don't have a dog in this fight but seems like Williamson Select and Nashville One have many players in their clubs that go to these high schools also. In fact, the director of one of the clubs IS a Williamson Co HS coach. Why, oh why, do you feel the need to stir the pot? The fact that club is expensive is old news. The fact that some girls can't afford to play is old news. The fact that if you don't play club it's really hard to make a Williamson Co HS team is OLD NEWS. It's also one of the reason that 11AAA is the strongest district in the state with the most AAA Championships. My family has been around HS and club volleyball since 1999...not a lot as changed...new clubs, more players....still the same old controversy. Do you really feel discussion is "not allowed"? Where? At your school? On this forum? I think open debate is a great idea, just don't get personal and DO NOT bring in players by name.
  10. I guess this means we're raising our gate prices to cover the cost of an extra official. We're barely making ends meet now -- which means more of our fundraising goes to T$$AA instead of to the girls (uniforms, camps).
  11. Parentof2 Welcome to the boards! We are fortunate in Middle Tennessee to have a good number of clubs who operate at a variety of competition levels. I am a strong believer in the club system as the best way to improve skill level and court experience. Camps are short and don't provide a playing environment on a regular basis. Club seasons range from Dec-May with different clubs and competition levels providing a wide number of tournaments (some clubs play 2-3 per season, some 10) Tryouts are held within the first 2 weeks of November. Some start practicing in December, while others begin practice in January. The most, if not all, the clubs in our area have teams at the 12U age level. I'm sure if you can find a club that meets your criteria both in cost, commitment and competitive level. Watch this board in the fall as I will begin posting tryout information as it becomes available (dates, location, cost) usually in October. p.s. to PHargis: haven't left for Nationals yet, we fly out tomorrow with play July 1-4 /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  12. Also Miami-bound are Impact 14 Blue, Impact 15 Blue and Impact 18 Blue. I agree about the scrimmages. We were fortunate to be hosted by KIVA a few weeks back and were able to scrimmage against MAVA 18, KIVA 17 and KIVA 18. Just a short 3-hour drive to Louisville and provided awesome competition. I also understand that the Impact 14s scrimmaged Select's team and Impact 15s scrimmaged the Nashville One 16s last night. See you on the beach!
  13. For the first time in 3 seasons, Georgia takes a game off the Tennessee All-Stars but Tennessee still wins 3-1 http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_153045.asp

  17. The 18s final was between Impact 18 Blue and Team Sting. Sting won the first set, Impact won the second and third sets making Impact 18 Blue the overall winner of this tournament. Next stop, Big South, Atlanta, GA
  18. We are on a well-deserved and long overdue 3 week break. No tournaments until Big South the first weekend in April. I happy right now, with spring in the air, to watch as much basketball as humanly possible and sit on my deck in between games.
  19. The player you refer to has ALWAYS played defense in club but was offered a alternate position (setter) on a different team. THAT was the reason she was moved to 182. She didn't want to play out of position as she is hoping to play defense in college. I know you understand that it is important to play your "natural" position when being recruited. Your daughter was not the only defensive player on the team. All the club teams we've played on have 2 defensive players-- one libero, one DS. Just like having 3 middles, 4 hitters and a setter. Some of those players play multiple positions, some don't. Now if you look at some of the other teams, there were girls who wanted to try other positions and made those desires known. Some were accommodated, some were not. The DS on the 181 was a hitter and is now playing defense. They also have a Libero. Their right side is also a setter. One of their middles moved to outside. It happens on all teams. And the word quitter is used when someone joins a team and then decides not to play any more. Not a slam, just what it is. If you have a job and decide to leave what do you do? Quit. That's all I'm saying. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings and really didn't want to be harsh. However, when you start with 10 girls, lose 1, then 2, then 3, add one and then lose 2, it gets to be a bit like a revolving door. I respect that the girls have other priorities, especially in their senior year and however they choose to use their time--it is important to use it wisely, especially when it comes down to studies and college. My point was simply that it left those behind in a bad position and we wish our team had stayed together as the girls really did like each other (and I thought the parents got along pretty well too but I could be wrong there). I wish you all the best, truly.
  20. No excuses but 182 had only 5 players this weekend and brought 3 up from other teams. Many played out of position and, as expected, didn't do as well as they might have. Played best on Sunday (when I really just wanted to go home) /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> Looking forward to Big South but as we only have 6 on the team now it's difficult to compete with random players every weekend. It's pretty disheartening when you start out with a decent team only to find out that half the players are quitters. Those that remain (including the coaches) are put in the unenviable position of having made a commitment and making the best of it. All that being said, it's been fun meeting and playing with a good group of girls and the coaches have worked very hard with them. No regrets.
  21. I feel like the character from "Where's Waldo"... After a win last weekend at the Cupid Classic, we are OFF. Yes, for the first weekend in 6 weeks, we are not playing anywhere. Happy to say my plans include movies at home, adult beverages and extra sleep...as we prepare for the 2nd half of the season /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  22. The schedule is on the Tournament link at the A-Game website. Younger teams play in the am, older in the pm. Some teams at USBA and some at A-game. Can't control what the SRVA posts and doesn't but the schedule and Sunday brackets are available at A-Game, anyone interested can print it from there.
  23. This is a coordinated effort between Impact and Williamson Select volleyball clubs. Matches will be held at both A-Game Sportsplex (Impact's home facility) and USBA (Select's home facility). Age groups are 12U-18U both Gold and Silver divisions. Teams entered can be found at SRVA Online, select Tournament Calendar>2-7-09>Select & Impact VBC Schedules are not listed but I believe that the older age divisions will play an afternoon wave (beginning at 2pm) due to the ACT exam being given that morning.
  24. Sure, the easiest way to get to the facility is to get off I-65 on Galleria Blvd going west. Turn onto Mallory Lane (right), and make the 2nd left onto Mallory Station Road. Make the first left (Gothic Court) and A-Game Sportsplex is at the end of the road (road dead-ends into the parking lot).
  25. Schedule: Pool play starts at 9am. 18 Pool A: Court 1A 18 Pool B: Court 1B 18 Pool C: Court 2A ____________________________ 17 All: Court 2B ____________________________ 16 All: Court 3A ____________________________ 15 Pool A: Court 4A 15 Pool B: Court 4B 12-14 not posted yet but as we have access to 12 courts, I'm sure they will start at 9am.
