  1. That's right SaintDog - it's only a humble prediction. We'll see what happens Friday night. I agree, they will be two competitive games. Good luck to the Saints and help represent Memphis. May the best teams win.
  2. I still disagree. Catholic will win it all. They are dominating this year... for the first time. There is plenty of parity between BGA, ECS, and Briarcrest, but Catholic seems to stand shoulders above everyone else. Catholic has an undefeated record, and they have played a solid schedule. It's not an incredibly hard one, but it's definitely not a weak one. Catholic has posted solid wins this season. Catholic over ECS for the championship...
  3. How about we just drop all recruiting rules. Let people go where they want. Some schools can become powerhouses and other schools can focus -- well, on education. Then those two or three powerhouses can hold all the athletes and competition will cease to exist. Better yet, we could hold a draft... Kind of like professional sports. Schools will choose students based on middle school statistics, and families will be required to pack up and move to the area in which a school selected them.
  4. The only problem with this idea is that schools then have to admit they are inferior. They accuse privates of cheating so they can win, but they would never admt that they stink and need a special divison for them to feel good about themselves.
  5. Harding did compete well last year, but they lost so many great players coming into this year. In my opinion, they are a mediocre team this year. They finished 5-6 which seems decent, but they play a very weak schedule. The coach doesn't schedule very challenging games.
  6. Briarcrest? I seriously doubt it. I mean, c'mon they only beat Harding 10-6. Harding... It was Harding.... I am extremely curious: Why did Briarcrest have such a low scoring game against Harding? I was thinking they should have blown my old school out of the water...
  7. It will be a very good competition. I do see Catholic winning it all. BGA and ECS will be a very close one... BGA might be the winner, but I'm going to stand by my prediction of ECS winning. Good luck to all teams.
  8. This is an odd numbered year, so the EM and W #1's will host. Briarcrest was a number 1 last year -- this year they are a number two - that is why they are traveling both times. Same situation with Catholic -- they were a number 2 seed last year, so they hosted. This year they are a number 1 seed, so they host again. That is probably why there is confusion, because of different seeding than usual. Page 5 of this link makes it clear. http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/football.pdf
  9. Ok, so far so good. But the first rounds are pretty predictable. Let's see if my predictions of ECS over BGA and Catholic over Briarcrest hold up.
  10. Ok, just found out. Briarcrest 10-6. Congrats Saints! WTG
  11. I'm assuming Briarcrest won, but does anyone have a score?
  12. Houston County 39, Marion 15 Score is fixed
  13. I don't have a dog in this fight and I hate that Gallatin isn't able to go to the playoffs because of crap like this. But there must be some reason that the TSSAA changed their original ruling. Something besides "less get Gallatin." There had to be something wrong with the original forms, I just want to know what it was. Again the same question. AGAIN THE SAME ANSWER: GWAVE1 I think what rkf and many others are trying to say is: Surely the TSSAA wouldn't be stupid enough to just change a ruling based on nothing. I don't think they are trying to say there IS data that was changed. I think they are just trying to give TSSAA more credit of intelligence and common sense than they deserve.
  14. First of all, step down from your lofty pedestal... Second of all, I'm from Memphis, ELA. I have no hidden agenda in this thing. I am completely neutral; however, I see this issue for what's it's worth. And the ties that most people on this board claim that you have with the TSSAA make me more neutral than you. ELA, you can't go around in life making hasty generalizations about everything. You often will infuriate reasonable people and throw yourself out on the limb of stupidity. Third, from the appearance of the posting sequence, no one is still fighting about this incident: EXCEPT YOU. In the last ten or more posts, have people been arguing? No. Fourth, read all of my post, before you jump in to assert dominance. I am not going to keep reasoning with you, because we are all tired of it and I have already proven Gallatin's point. In fact, most people on here agree that TSSAA has committed an error here, although some don't think Gallatin should be allowed into the playoffs this late in the process. Why you can't see this amazes me.... I have generally respected you on these boards, but your attitude, hasty generalizations, and continuing to argue about it after everyone doesn't care why anymore has severely degraded my respect for you. And take off your CAPS lock. No one likes a yeller...
  15. Wrong. As a state actor (as ruled in BA vs. TSSAA), the TSSAA now falls under the provisions of the constitution. Therefore the Fifth Amendment Double Jeopardy clause applies to the situation.
  16. What did the TSSAA say was wrong with the transfer? Didn't the kid have two addresses? Is that what they ruled? The reason they approved the original transfer (according to my sources) is that they didn't have all of the facts. Let me see if I can understand what happened? If John Doe moves into my school with an athletic record and reports for football requesting to play. The school has to request a transfer which is going to be approved if all of the paper work LOOKS correct. The TSSAA DOES NOT GO OUT AND INVESTIGATE ANYONE.... until another school complains! IN this case you must ask yourself, was JOHN DOE living FULL TIME in GALLATIN? OR did he share time with his step father in Nashville? After the investigation, didn't the TSSAA rule that he had dual residency between the parents? I'm not sure so someone fill me in with all of the details? Yes, this is terrible for the kids at Gallatin, but I still contend that the TSSAA has no choice but to follow the rules of the association. IF the rules must be changed, then I suggest that someone at Gallatin sit down and draw up new rules to present to the TSSAA at the Winter meeting. Good luck! ELA, Your feelings fly above your reasoning. The TSSAA has no choice, because they choose to have no choice. The rules do not have to be changed. They are fine. The problem rests in how TSSAA handled the situation. TSSAA in a sense has committed double jeopardy. In good faith, Gallatin went above and beyond to make sure that the player in question was eligible. TSSAA ruled the player eligible twice, therefore Gallatin became not guilty of any transfer offense that could have been committed by this kid. However, the TSSAA then ruled him ineligible ex post facto. The second time around, the TSSAA changed the ruling and punished Gallatin. Call it however you want, but this is clearly holding Gallatin in double jeopardy. It's different if Gallatin had never checked on the kid. If they had never made sure about the kid, Gallatin could legally be accused by another school and punished. But this was not the case. The TSSAA made two rulings and has held Gallatin in double jeopardy. Plain and Simple.
  17. Ok, everyone e-mail Ronnie Carter or others at the TSSAA and tell them what you think about their mistake. (Do it respectfully.) The email addresses are on TSSAA's website under the People link.
  18. Then TSSAA is guilty of inflicting double jeopardy on Gallatin.
  19. Gallatin... definitely the best one not playing -- they got robbed by a lazy TSSAA. Hopefully they'll be back in it next week...
  20. ELA, I must disagree with you. Gallatin did everything in the book to make sure the transfer was legal. Should they be penalized for TSSAA's idiocy? No. TSSAA made a mistake and they can't just slap down a ruling and pretend they never did anything wrong, like approve an illegal transfer as legal, TWICE. Plus, I seriously doubt they were maliciously trying to lie on the transfer forms -- it was just a mistake that's easy to make. What should happen? Gallatin be reinstated in the playoffs. From this point on, the player is ineligible, unless a hardship is granted.
  21. No I did not play. I did pep band and a waved the school flag. I used Daniel2024 for awhile last year, however, in the spring I kind of let a joke get out of hand and got my account shut down, so now I use this one. No, I haven't come home yet. It's a ten hour drive, and I see no reason to come home, so I'll wait until Thanksgiving. I was always at our games (except when there was volleyball) but I kind of got tired of hearing about how good our team was, yet seeing how horrible we were. I almost got a tiny bit of joy out of seeing our team fail time after time. I assume you play on the team. Who are you?
  22. Your worst nightmare: You know we win every game against ya'll (or so are players would try and get us to believe). We're the team that talks way too much, thinking we got you beat, and then gets blasted out of the water. Ok, I hope you narrowed it down better than St. Benedict or Harding. Funny, I've never seen a St. Benedict person on here talking about football... (If that was still too vague, let me know.) Go D2AA - Catholic over ECS
  23. Yeah, Whatever!!! Leave me alone... Just because I'm stupid... Nah, I wasn't really thinking. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I'm having deja vu, maybe cause that's what really happened. Yup. It did. I still think ECS will be there. My prediction still stands, but thanks for clarifying that. I'm off in Texas at college, so I feel like I have a better opinion now that I care so little for my alma mater. I think it makes me unbiased...
  24. Briarcrest won last year, but they lost a lot of players and haven't been doing as well. ECS dominated Briarcrest, so they are the clear choice in the West. ECS has a solid team, but it is still developing into the caliber it had years ago. Catholic dominated the East and played solidly all season. I think it will be close between the two, but I'm guessing Catholic will edge it out and win. Why? Who do you think will win?
