  1. Well, let me put it this way, Aside from Dafatta and Campbell (kickers), Franklin will have only 2 returning starters on offense and defense. Those two are Kirn (FB/LB) and Leach (OT/DT). Upcoming Junior, Chaz Pace will be a force next year ( LB/?). Aside from that, it's unknown. One thing is for sure, Coach J will get the most out of whoever he has to work with.
  2. Most of the teams in the top ten and "others" are not private schools anyway.
  3. BDD, Is "Bell, Nichols and Murray" a registered trademark slogan for Franklin? Delete Murray and insert Hammond. Murray is a BIG no show this year. I think the Franklin coaching staff has also bought into this mantra as well which has made Franklin become too one dimensional. Don't get me wrong, Bell and Nichols certainly deserve the recognition and Murray is CAPABLE of making big plays. Additionaly I think the coaching staff has done an overall excellent job, but I think you have to admit Franklin needs to, and has the ability to,be much better balanced as the HL game has shown. The biggest factor in the Brentwood, as well as any future games Franklin may play this year, will be the game plan.
  4. BDD you are correct the Franklin line took this game on their shoulders in the second half. The games Franklin has gotten into trouble in this year have been those where they abandon the run way too early. As the season has progressed, Franklin has relied on the screen pass as their primary weapon and have become too predictable. Don't Nelson, Ladd and Leach also start on defense as well which pitched a shutout of HL in the second half?
  5. Granted Henry County was not as strong as Lincoln Co. or even Columbia, but I think you saw a preview of a much improved defense. The scheme did change in terms of the linebacker and DE responsibilities - not sure if Coach J was actually calling the plays. With Josh Nelson, a three year two way starter back at DE full time along with Kirn and Hammond returning this week, play will continue to improve.
  6. I agree with the other posts that working out and eating right is the best plan to gaining muscle. I would also add getting proper rest, which most teanagers don't do. If you want a safe sure-fire supplement, I would suggest whey protein. It is safe ( no hormonal effect ), relatively inexpensive, few carbs or fat. My son gained 33 lbs. between his Sophomore and Junior year by eating right and adding a protein shake each night before going to bed.His bench went fron 225 to 400. Of course he hit the weight room 4 days a week religeously too.
  7. BA, which is a mile from Brentwood's field, played their game. Must of been a mean ol'e cloud hanging over Brentwood's field. If they would have played, I'm sure Loudermilk's ( Brentwood's tv announcer ) hot air would have had the field dry as a bone by the second quarter. At least it gives Franklin an extra day to rest and prepare to play the winner next week, stay tuned to the Weather Channel.
  8. The "lots of people" who would say that GALLATIN got bad calls must be relatives of the refs, The last two series of the game were had the worst calls I've seen in a game of this magnitude. The refs were short on the Franklin spots and managed to count the distance the Gallatin runner slid in the mud as yardage when they managed to get the first down in their last drive by .0001 cm. Franklin also had a 45 yd run called back because the Gallatin defender turned his back on a block and Franklin was called for an illegal block. The best (worst) call was the personal foul that was called that gave Gallatin their last first down. The way it was going, I expected the lights to go out again since the refs had done all they could, to no avail, to give Gallatin another chance.
  9. When will Franklin get the respect that we deserve?¨ Maybe it is because of our record in the past, but this is a new team with more heart and strength. I know first hand because I'm a Frnktown Boy. That's right, this is #54 Joshua Nelson, and on Friday night our O-Line will punish the Blaze's D=line. Also, I plan to blow up #2 (The Human Missle) and the rest of the Blaze to gain some respect around here. That is what it's all about and we refuse to loose on our own turf. Did I mention it is a home game?¨
