Jimmy Whitby has those Lake Co.boys playing really good ball with mostly freshmen and sophomores

I go to the Lake Co.games and have heard the rumors myself...I also know Coach Johnson and Coach Hoffman... I talked to Coach Hoffman at a basketball game about 2 weeks ago...At a Lake Co.-Dyersburg game...He also comes to some Lake Co. high games when Obion Cen. is not playing...So if you look at that there might be something to it....But at the same time,Kim Decker was the Lake Co. coach,then went to Obion,but still came to a lot of Lake Co.games....But ,all things in perspective,Coach Hoffman And Coach Johnson of Lake Co.have been best friends for many years...They played softball together for many years and Hoffman was also an assistant at Lake Co...As far as being the next coach at Lake Co.I'm not so sure...Bret,the Lake Co. coach is currently serving as principal because the other principal was named superintendent..So,it is a pretty known fact that he will be offered the principal job next year...So,if he is principal, will he have input in Hoffman being named the coach at Lake Co?...Bret may push for Hoffman, but there is also his brother that no one is thinking about....His brother is Ricky Newsome,the Lake Co.girl's jr.high coach and current assistant coach at the high school....Will Bret push Hoffman over his brother?I also read that another school had a coach that was a principal and did a pretty good job with both....But is that a school board decision?...I haved talked to a couple school board members and they indicated to me that you could not be the coach and principal at Lake Co....They also told me that they would be interested in asking Kim Decker to return to Lake Co.to coach the girl's team...She may turn it down but to at least ask...And by talking to other people in the crowd that seems to be what most people are wanting to see happen........Also,the Lake Co girls are loaded but young...It would be a great job...As far as Coach Whitby going back to Central,I really believe he is happy at Lake Co...I graduated with Donna Nesbitt,the superintendent that was fired at Central...She graduated from...where else?Lake Co....Coach Whitby married a woman from Lake Co and lives in Lake Co.so I would be surprised...He may not have gotten along with Donna but I also don't think he thinks was treated fairly by a lot of the Central staff and parents....He received a 10 day suspension and rumor was that he was going to be reinstated but chose to resign and take over the Lake Co.program....I also heard that Obion was interested and was intending to offer him more money but he wasn't interested..Stay tuned as the soap opera continues.

Lake Co has 3 sophomores and a freshman starting along with one senior...The first 3 girls off the bench are sophmores...All these girls played on an undefeated junior high team...They have a great little guard and a 6' 1 sophmore that is already one of the best in the district...They have beaten a very good Dresden team and lost to the #1 ranked team in the state ,Gleason,by 9 at Gleason...They are up and down this year but they have a lot of talent....There are also 2 very good players coming from the middle school next year....The future is bright

I go to the Lake Co games and I have seen Dresden,Gleason,and Peabody play...I don't think Trenton is getting their due respect in the state polls...Gleason may be ranked #1 on paper because of their record but Peabody has only lost close games to larger schools and is without a doubt the best team in West State that I have seen

Why does Obion Cen. and Lake Co. not play each other?I know they were suppose to play each other 3 years ago at Lake Co.but wa canceled by Obion Central...The reason was suppose to have been because there would be hard feelings and potential bad sportsmanship with Coach Whitby becoming the Lake Co.coach after being at Obion Cen. for about 20 years....The game was already scheduled and would have been Coach Whitby's 1st game at Lake.Co..The gym would have been rocking...Now that a few seasons have gone by and tempers a little sub-sided this would be a great game with two schools so close to each other and would probably be one of the best money games for both schools,especially with Lake .Co teams on the rise..I would hope to get a lot of response and hopefully both parties can get together and make this happen.

If Jamar Mays,Lake Co., gets his shot off and is hot ,he can shoot with anyone.

Why is it that when Lake Co wins,eveyone has a bad game?Why not give Lake Co. credit?If you were to compare scores you would see that everyone is pretty close to each other...Dyersburg killed Dyer Co twice,Halls beat Dyersburg,Lake Co,beat Halls.....If you would look at the teams playing the same opponents you would see that Lake Co beat Middle College by about 20 points,same as Halls,Halls beat Trenton by three,Lake Co beat Trenton by 6,Halls beat Bradford by 9,Lake Co beat Bradford by 13,Halls beat Dresden by 14,Lake Co beat Dresden by 26....So now we have beaten a great Fulton Co.and Greenfield team..I guess they didn't play good....I believe there's not much difference in S.Fulton,Halls,Trenton,and Greenfield...I know if we are shooting the ball well we can beat any of these teams..I also know that we basically live by the 3 point shot and if we are not hitting that any of these teams can beat us....But anyone thinking they will beat this team easily was be in for a big surprise.....But...I guess if we do lose or get blowed out one night I can say the same thing a lot of other team's fans are saying....Uuh,we just didn't play good!Don't give the other team credit...

I have to agree with everyone about the officiating...It was horrible both ways....I live in Newbern but went to school at Lake Co...I go to all the Lake Co.games but to the Dyer Co games when Lake Co.is not playing..So I had already seen Greenfield play at Dyer Co...Coach Whitby,the Lake Co.coach was there also...It seems to me that Greenfield is built around two players,Blackman and Shane and the other 3...The other Blackman is basically a set shooter and the other white kid didn't look to shoot at all...Blackman and Shane are two great players..The lead was 5 points for L.C.with close to 4 minutes left when the officals called traveling on Tony Tyler on two consecutive possessions....The player on Lake County's team,#31 is Jamar Mays...He can shoot the lights out if he is on...Halls and Trenton found this out also...But....not mentioned was that he picked up 3 fouls in the 1st half and fouled out with 4 minutes to go in the game.....So,without him in the lineup the last 4 minutes and none of the overtime period against a very good Greenfield team was a great achievement.....I'm not quite so sure about if Greenfield would have been on they would have won easily...I have seen every L.C gme this year and they were not on either....Our center missed about 7 or 8 easy shots under the basket...We have been scoring about 70 points or close to it for most of the year.....The last call was terrible..L.C had a 1 point lead with 3 seconds left with Greenfield inbounding the ball...Greenfield needed a miracle...Greenfield called timeout and set up an old Georgetown play where they set a screen and the player pulls a player into him and falls down hoping to get a charge...They got it and I thought they had gotten the miracle they needed...The crowd really starting letting the officials have it with tha call...A couple fans were asked to leave and the principal had to get on the microphone and tell everyone to sit down before they would continue to play...He also told all 3 officials to go out the back door....This was with 3 seconds left and Blackman possibly winning the game...After L.C. won I thought the mood would change and the refs would go ahead and go out the front but they were so bad I think they would have had to be escorted out anyway....They ran out of the back door and hopefully these two teams don't have these refs the next time they play...Everyone was right...they never let either team get in the flow...I can take losing to a very good team like Greenfield and know we may be in for a long night when we go to Greenfield but hopefully we will have better officials and I also know it will be a loud hostile crowd but hopefully it will be a hard fought game between two good teams with good sportsmanship,win or lose....

I agree with you.... I just came from the Lake Co.-South Fulton game and LakeCo led for just about the whole ball game...Lake Co. loked like they were going to put S.F.away having 8 point leads on two or three occasions...Lake Co.had a 4 point lead with about 2 minutes left an the ball only to see S.F. steal the ball and score and Lake Co.'s best shooter,Jamar Mays, foul out of the game..It was tied up 75-75 with about 1:15 left and Lake Co was was called for a violation for moving at the end line while trying to throw the ball in bounds...S.F.got the ball back and scored with 5 seconds left..You are right......I have seen Trenton,Halls,Greenfield,So.Fulton,Lake Co and there is not much difference in any of these teams...It's just who may be hot that night....I give S.Fulton credit..they didn't quit and it was a great game to watch.

Lake Co beat Middle College by 23 points at Memphis....Lake Co.has been impressive the last 5 games,defeating Halls by7,Trenton by 7,Fulton Co by 5,Bradford by 13,and Middle College by 23.....Lake Co has no seniors

He is still in Lake County.But I bet you guys remember Chancie Higgins.If I remember Moore County went home a loser.
