  1. Goodpasture will walk through 2A like Sherman through Georgia. Take it to the bank. thumb thumb
  2. Don't completely count FCS out. They lost a good QB, yes, but their other skill positions are just fine. Coach McNeal has ways of getting the best out of a small group of players. I am NOT saying that they are "the team to beat" but they will hold their own against ANYONE in that region. Besides, anyone who knows anything about FCS know that Coach Welch is the real brains out there... But with all the talk, we won't really know until October 29th how the chips really fall.
  3. Muffin, One should not make claims that are not based on proof. So, what proof do you have? Or is it just the usual jealousy against private schools?
  4. Coach Ward, Sledge had surgery a little over a week ago, out for at least a year. Medlin is doing fine. They were 1-3 in Florida. Beat Watertown tonight 10-0 in 6. Still having some ups and downs. Muffin......Get a life.....the recruiting thing is a old lie and getting older.
  5. Friendship defeated Watertown 17-7. FCS hit 7 home runs in the game including 4 in a row at one point. Michael Wheeler had 3 home runs in the game and Trey Medlin, Zach Gardner, Jeremy Ezell & James Meadows also hit one out. Watertown got one home run (grand slam) as well. Friendship is now 7-2 on the season with 7 games scheduled over the next week before leaving for Florida on 4/11 for 4 games.
  6. Friendship lost 4 starters Kevin Herring Kyle Kegley Micha Chitwood Adam Tomlinson But they have good replacements for all of them. Michael Wheeler moves in at catcher, Ryan Gaines at Short, Lee Sweeney at 3rd and Michael Ried in center.
  7. Man oh man am I ever sorry I brought the budget cuts up......................
  8. Van Buren will find out how good they are on ....... say ......Tuesday!
  9. Just a thought ..... not wanting to start a fight, but food for thought...... In reading news articles and listening to reports, the "mulitplier" that the public schools may want to be concerned with is related to school budgets. If school boards continue to be faced with cuts in funding, how long will it be before less and less public schools can even offer sports programs? This could have a major effect at all class levels of the public schools. Should that happen and private schools enrollment grow in areas where public schools drop athletic programs, will the privates get the brunt of the blame for that too?
  10. Friendship id 4-2 The have defeated Beech, White House, Dekalb, Pope John Paul II and lost to Wilson Central & Mt. Juliet.
  11. Friendship Christian will not have to move up either due to their enrollment, if they stay in D1.
  12. Thanks, That clears up some confusion in my limited mind about this entire debate. That seems reasonable. I would offer that if they were in fact to go that route that all schools regardless of their regular season record be included in the playoff's. Who knows what may happen with a school with a so so season with a "second chance". Anyway, as I said before I am not trying to "start a fight" really I am anly interested in learning the rational from both side.
  13. Beethoven: The "split" talk....does that mean a complete "split" where private & public never play each other or is that just for tournament play?
  14. Mustang69: The point is not the range in the classes themselves, that is a given, but the whole concept of just because one school with 225 as its enrollment is a private school, it has to be discriminated against with the mulitplier while a school with the same 225 enrollment that is a public school does not. Where is the equality in that. I know all of the stuff about zoning but that is a cop out not an excuse. Many of the students in the private school would be in a 4A or 5A schools if they attended where they were "zoned". And I would venture to say that over 2/3's of them would never see the field or court if they went there. At the private school they at least get to play and compete. What's wrong with that? Oh yeah, it's unfair because ...... well just because........I guess. Enough said....I now retire from this debate. Obviously we all have our minds made up and are not interested the other sides "facts". I still say, just let the kids play ball without the political horse droppings.
  15. COACH: Yes I do understand the rules about competion between associations. Yes I understand that the NFHSA will only sanction one per state. Yes, I understand that my opinion is just that and opinion. No I do not want to see high school / middle school sports ruined. However, with not a single private school represented on the board of control, I do question how much input they had in the multiplier. I question how a school with 225 students can "fairly" compete as a school with 405 students???? Please understand, I am not trying to be a jerk. I am deeply concerned about the process. In 4 years will the 1.8 become 2.0 or higher until the privates are simply "run out of town"? Who knows? My complaint in NOT the competition, it is the politics....that's all. In my humble opinion, High School sports is the most pure form of sports. I would rather see any high school game over a pro game any day any time any where, regardless of who is playing. It is supposed to be about learning and supposed to be about fun. When kids get into college and beyond it then become in essence a "job" and fewer and fewer are able to participate. I am only questioning if all of these political style arguments are going to end up taking the FUN out of it....that's my only concern. NO.....NO.....NO..... I am not trying to stir up a "stink". NO.....NO.....NO..... I don't want to see a separation, but deep down inside I fear that it will be forced in the end. I PRAY that I am the most wrong person in Tennessee with that fear. The KIDS deserve much better than that. I am sorry if these or my prior comments were offensive.
