  1. There is a rumor floating around Tullahoma that head baseball coach Mike James is stepping down. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor?
  2. Tony Long is leaving Marion Co to become the head coach at Franklin Co.
  3. The TSSAA has raised the fee for a high school DH to $105. The previous rate was $85. I'll have more info later.
  4. Longtime Franklin Co HS baseball coach, Stanley Bean, has resigned as coach to devote more time to his other interests. He's Asst Prinicipal at North Junior High and a commissioner in Franklin Co. Coach Bean, whom I highly respect, will be missed on the baseball diamond.
  5. Tullahoma travels to Soddy Daisy Friday and Columbia hosts Walker Valley. Wed nite, Soddy Daisy was trailing 1-0 and hit a 2 run double( the ball hit dead on the chalk line) in the bottom of the 6th to go up 2-1. In the 7th, Walker Valley had the tying run on 3rd with one out, but couldn't score. The Trojans have a nice field, but its on top of a hill. Good luck to both teams in 8AAA. Note: Soddy Daisy beat Coffee Co 10-1 Monday nite and the Cats lost twice to Coffee Co in the regular season.
  6. I'm not a softball guru by any means, but if Coffee Co can beat Riverdale after winning over Ooltewah and Soddy Daisy, then should be the favorite to win it all. Thats murderers row. I wonder who Mr. Know-it-all is picking in this one?
  7. Tullahoma and Columbia are one win away from the state tourney. Now that would be fantastic for 8AAA to send two teams to the state. That could be a first for 8AAA.
  8. MTCS beat Forrest in the first game Tues 7-6 and Cascade beat MTCS in the second game 7-4.
  9. P Why don't you start a thread on "Why your team is winning".
  10. I told my broadcast partner, Scott Shasteen, that if I ever pick a team to beat Maryville again just slap me upside my head. That's the first time I've seen Maryville play in person and I was very impressed. For such a young team, those kids played like veterans. You Maryville fans are so fortunate to have such a great solid program and a great coaching staff, year after year after year. Our coach, John Olive, is a former Maryville player and represents us extremely well in Tullahoma. Congrats on another State title.
  11. Congratulations to Columbia for winning the Class 5A State Football Championship over Hendersonville 28-7. After finishing 3rd in District 8AAA, the Lions played their best football at the end of the season and with the victory, it shows the strength of District 8AAA. The Tullahoma Wildcats won the regular season title and I expect these two teams to battle it out next season for the district title. I was impressed all season with the Lions defense and defense wins championships. A great job by the Columbia coaching staff and I'd like to see Mr. Goff be a Tennessee Vol. The Vols could use this outstanding linebacker.
  12. With the score tied at 48-48, Lincoln Co was playing for the last shot of regulation. The Falcons got a decent look from around 10ft and missed the shot, which went in and out of the basket with less than 2 seconds and in a scramble for the rebound, a Tullahoma player, one of the Passerelo twins, was fouled. He calmly went to the free-throw line with no time left and hit a game winning free throw and Tullahoma beats Lincoln Co 49-48. A crucial district road win for the Cats, who travel to Warren Co next Tuesday nite. Congratulations to Coach Jeff Taylor, his staff and players. The Cats trailed Lincoln Co by 8pts going into the 4th quarter. On a non basketball note, David O'Connor, former Giles Co head coach, was introduced to the large crowd as the new head football coach at Lincoln Co.
  13. Columbia played well and was the better team tonite. We might, in hindsight, done some things differently, but Columbia will represent District 8AAA well in the 4th round and I hope they can go on and win a state title, after coming so close last season. I was impressed with the Lion defense and the sophomore QB for the Lions, but I wouldn't trade him for Jared Davis. It was a great season that exceeded expectations and I'm proud of this team for winning the District 8AAA championship and a good play-off run. Tullahoma is losing a great bunch of seniors, but has several returning players who can make Tullahoma a team to be reckoned with next season. I hate to see the season end and I'm gonna miss Wildcat football on Friday nights.
  14. I was disappointed the THS Wildcat Band wasn't at the game tonite also. They do a great job and I don't remember exactly why they weren't there. I'm sure they had prior committment for a competition or something and maybe didn't expect the Cats to be playing in the 3rd round when they scheduled this whatever. THS did postpone their bkb games and maybe the band could have done the same. I wonder what it would be like to go to a UT or Alabama football game and the band wasn't there. It just didn't seem right to me, but I'm a little prejudiced. The band booster club has a nice concession stand at Wilkins Stadium and made money off the football program and I just think the football team deserved a little more from the band. Thats just my opinion and I know everyone has one. I hope the band does well at the state competition.
  15. I thought they were the bigger and stronger team and the Lions wore us down in the second half of the first game. Hopefully, the Cats can build a little bigger lead. Columbia seems to have a better passing game this time around with a different QB in the Markham kid. Neither team had a lot of turnovers during the season. Both teams have a good kicking game. Tullahoma's defense is better than the first game with Columbia. Tullahoma has the more experienced QB, but the Lions might have the best running back with Goff, although Trey Burks has really come on the last few games after coming back from an injury in the Lincoln Co game and Jordan Sheffield has returned 4 punts for TD's in the last 2 games. Tullahoma can score quickly from anywhere on the field with their skill players and their speed. If Tullahoma's offensive and defensive lines play like they have the past 3 weeks, the Cats have a good chance of winning. The majority of the Tullahoma's coaching staff has been together for 18 years, probably longer than any other staff in District 8AAA, since Coach Thompson retired from Lincoln Co. This should be a great game and I like our chances.
  16. I meant to ask Coach Olive that question. There is a good possibility. I do like that crew. They are professional and experienced.
  17. Every school has what I call redneck fans including Tullahoma and Lawrence Co. Fortunately, most fans don't fall into this category, but after going back and reading some of your earlier posts, it seems like you might fit into this category. Every post I've read on CoachT reflects this. You're indicating that everyone in Tullahoma is classless and that's a stupid comment for any city or community. I probably don't know you, but you sound like a young person that may play for LCHS or did play in recent years. When you grow up, you'll realize you've made some classless comments. In the meantime, I, like most people on CoachT, will just laugh at your comments and move on.
  18. I was sitting beside Scott all night and I didn't hear him say anything about "dirty county Wildcats". Scott told me he didn't remember saying anything like that. We both really respect the Lawrence Co program. It was just a typical hard fought playoff game between two district rivals.
  19. We have certainly been blessed with excellent weather on Friday nights during this football season, which is a stark contrast from last season. I was excited to see the long range forecast for this Friday night, with hi temps in the 50's and lows in the mid 30's. The rain will stop on Wed, so it should be a dry, fast turf this Friday night. The Columbia Lions seem to be in play-off mode as they are averaging 41pts per game on offense and giving up 15pts a game on defense the last 4 games after having a bye in week 8. On the other hand, Tullahoma is averaging 33pts a game on offense, while giving up 17pts a game. If both teams get their average, then the Lions would win 41-33. I'm glad this game won't be played on paper. With the exception of Shaquille Harris, Tullahoma should be in full strength and that's hoping Calen Nelson is able to play, after missing last week for some in-school issues. I don't know right now the injury situation for the Lions. If you can't attend the game, listen to Scott and I on fantasyradio.com, charter channel 6 or live radio on 101.5. If at all possible, bring a warm coat, gloves and etc and come to Columbia Friday night. The winner of this game will most likely host a 4th round, semi-final game. The pre-game show on Fantasy Radio begins at 6pm.
  20. That is kinda the way I feel about this game, also. The Cats were drilled last year at Columbia. The Cats defense will have to play its best game and the offense probably needs to score 28-35 pts to win. Tullahoma, although they beat Columbia 21-20, was held to 13pts in regulation by the Lions.
  21. Thanks to Tullahoma's win over a good Lawrence Co team, 28-14, the Cats advance to the 3rd round of the TSSAA 5A State Playoffs. Tullahoma travels to Columbia, despite beating the Lions in week 2 and winning the District 8AAA championship. Columbia has several players who may play D1 college football next season and the Lions beat a good Knoxville Catholic team Friday night. The last time the Cats went to the state quarterfinals was 1987. I think the crowd Friday night at Tullahoma really helped the Cats and I'm sure Tullahoma fans will flock to Columbia on Nov. 19th. In the first meeting between these two teams, Tullahoma won the first half and Columbia won the second half. It took a fake PAT for a 2pt conversion to beat the Lions in overtime. Both teams have improved since then with the Lions able to throw the ball much better and the Cats defense seems to be peaking at the right time. It should be a fantastic game with the winner hosting a semi-final game the following Friday.
  22. I'm thinking Knox Catholic might be a little overated or Columbia is underated. The Lions are good, even though they didn't win the District 8AAA championship. I don't know anything about the game except Columbia won 34-23. Congrats to the Lions on winning and Columbia will host Tullahoma next Friday night in the 3rd round of the TSSAA 5A state playoffs.
  23. You have certainly been very accurate in your predictions and you're my official predictor from now on. I'm thinking the Cats may have to score in the thirties to win at Columbia. The Lions held Tullahoma to their lowest point total this season when Tullahoma beat Columbia 21-20 in week 2, the Cats 3rd game.
