  1. City-Boro Stadium-Boro Stadium Atmosphere-Cookeville Ticket price-Boro (seriously TSSAA if you go up 1 more dollar on tickets Im staying at home to watch) Overall I still prefer Murfreesboro over Cookeville. I had a great time and I was very impressed by the stadium noise. I felt that since the stadium wasnt as big it allowed for people to be closer together but the downfall was I struggled moving around having to walk from one place to another. It was much easier to maneuver in Boro
  2. Your freshmen play varsity? If they're talented enough. I dont believe in "only upper classmen should be on the field" You play the best 22 players on your team
  3. Another player to look out for next year will be Freshman QB (current middle school QB) Austin Morgan. Morgan is a big kid for his age (about 6ft at 13 years old) he's got an incredible arm that is an absolute cannon (much better then Austin Talent) and can move around the pocket pretty well. His only downfall would be A) He is a freshman and he probably isnt as mobile as Talent is. Honestly though all year long Ive not been impressed with Talent and thought he's probably the worst Alcoa QB in the past 10 years, mainly from decision making. I doubt the coaches will but I give the Freshman QB a very strong look next year, it will certainly give us something we didnt have this year and thats a decent passing game.
  4. You might want to do some research 74. The 69 title was legit and won on the field. Dont get me wrong I meant no disrespect by it. And actually I think i should correct myself I believe it was 64 not 69 but the point was its kinda like an AP title. Sure the AP calls you the champ and hands out a trophy but its not the title that goes down in the official books (TSSAA). I know they werent around back then but until they start recognizing it then I just dont count them.
  5. Im not gonna get into the trash talk on here cause this isnt my battle. Im a little torn for this game. I want to see The Rebels bring another Gold ball back to BC but at the same time It would be nice to at least be "equal" to Maryville when it comes to state titles (sorry I just cant count the 1969 Cracker Jack championship that just randomly appeared around 2000). Good luck to all the Rebels players though and for all the fans make sure you stop a Chedders for lunch/dinner...its freaking AMAZING with some local Blount County folks working there
  6. It is because of fans like you that most people don't like you guys. Look at the stats. It was a good game. Yes we got beat by 3 touchdowns, but anyone that knows football knows that the score is not always indicative of the type of game it was. You guys proved to be the better team. You caused a couple of those turnovers outright. Very good team and obviously the best in the state, but to say you dominated is just plain crazy. Fans like me?? Please go back through all of my 200+ posts on this site and show me where Ive disrespected 1 team. Stats are close....Ok what does that mean? Nothing! To quote Herm Edwards, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!! and scoreboard says 21-0
  7. I dont think this Alcoa team could beat MUS but Ill put up the 06 team against anyone in the country.
  8. So now we're disrespecting Milan because someone said alcoa dominated (I mean it was a 21-0 skunk anyway you look at it cause that is the only stat that matters) If it was a video game you hit the reset button. Its just silly that Alcoa had won 5 straight state titles and gets disrespected by being called cheaters, cocky, arrogant and yet when we win by 3 touchdowns....3 ....We're disrespecting the other team.... Stay classy Tennessee, Ill be back next year when whoever we play whines about Alcoa. And that O line amassed 168 ON THE GROUND ALONE. Again, stats dont matter...Scoreboards do.
  9. well you never said alone haha... I think the best part of history is that Alcoa has the chance to win a TSSAA State title in their 3rd classification (A, AA and AAA) and at least their 4th location 70s- @ Alcoa (i know 1 game from the 70s were there cant remember the other 2, Maryville and GP maybe?) 89- @ Vandy 00s- @MTSU 09- @Tn Tech
  10. Yup open zones is the reason we've been so great for the past 20 years...Just look at these records 1992- 6-5 1994- 5-5 1996- 6-5 1997- 6-6 1999- 6-6 2002- 3-7 Heck yea open zones!!! Making you a .500 team all through the 90s exactly, and in 03 you got pounded...then you reel off 5 straight?? not just winning, dominating really except for the Huntingdon game and the Milan game...3 years goodpasture didn't stand a chance....your telling me there was nobody on Alcoas team in all those years they were horrible that a running back or one standout player couldnt carry the load?..atleast to a semifinal or quarterfinal? then all of a sudden your unbeatable? Ask anyone who is real Alcoa faithful. We knew it was coming. I was in Kindergarten in 1989 (when Alcoa won its 4th title) a few years later (as we were sucking ####) people were saying that when we (class of 00, 01 and 02) were older we could be a dominate team like the 77-79 and the 88 and 89 teams. We had the talent but didnt have the discipline or the coaching. My Senior year we all said that alcoa would have a big drop (they finished 3-7) but we knew from seeing Duck, Warren, Fiegler etc dominating through Pee wees, midgets and trouncing teams in middle school that they would be good and they ripped off another 3 straight. Ill be perfectly honest though these last 2 (possibly 3) state titles were a surprise. We didnt see this coming at all. These things come in cycles. Honestly right now Alcoa is just having 2 cycles back to back. I find it hilarious that all Alcoa fans sit back and enjoy this knowing that one day it will end (because its a cycle) yet everyone else complains and says we recruit and get our players from open enrollment and act like its never gonna end. Alcoa and Maryville both have hit their "dynasty" modes and everyone knows all dynasties come to an end eventually.
  11. Yup open zones is the reason we've been so great for the past 20 years...Just look at these records 1992- 6-5 1994- 5-5 1996- 6-5 1997- 6-6 1999- 6-6 2002- 3-7 Heck yea open zones!!! Making you a .500 team all through the 90s
  12. The new school will be AHS old school will become 7th and 8th. Middle school will be 4th 5th and 6th. elem. will be k-3rd. and if you had ever heard coach speak x's and o's you would know better than to say that he is overrated. Coach is no doubt smarter and better prepared than anyone that he faced this year. Yes I said anyone!!!! I just hope they dont agree to build a new football stadium. I know a lot of away teams are surprised cause they expect Alcoa to be playing at Neyland but Goddard is our home and no matter where the new school is we always need to play at Goddard. Also, taking nothing away from Rankin but George Quarles is the best coach in Tennessee High School Football.
  13. Isnt history technically already made? I mean Alcoa and Maryville both are either gonna be tied for 1 or 1 and 2
  14. Anyone know the scheduled home/away team?? Im really hoping to see Alcoa in their all white. I hate the new Nike maroon jerseys
  15. Ive replied more in this thread then any thread since Ive been on coach t. Of course thats not saying much. Ive been here 8 years (longer then anyone Ive seen on the last few pages) and I barely have made 200 posts haha.
  16. Ive honestly never talked to Coach Rankin except for telling him "good game coach" after one of the ball games. He wasnt my coach so I dont feel a need to casually bring up convo with him. What Rankin has done at Smith Co or Riverdale is none of my business nor do I care the only thing that matters to me is that he's taken a very good Alcoa program and instilled some discipline in it and helped continue what many other coaches have started. Is he the greatest coach in the world? Personally I say no (You always choose the one you played for cmon) and "professionally" I would say no but he's a great coach no doubt.... Also since it was brought up again, Alcoa has had open enrollment for years now, if thats whats winning us all our state championships why did we have such a long drought from 89-00??
  17. I will agree we are cocky and arrogant but a lot of it has to do with the fact that A) We've earned it as you mentioned and Even when we were "average" we still caught flack about stupid crap like open enrollment, recruiting etc. Now that we're dominating (only 2 teams have beat us in 6 years) there really isnt much anyone can say so its our time to shoot off back. We all know there will be a time when its over but we're going to enjoy it while we can. Also honestly there is A LOT of people that think Alcoa will blow out Milan because we expect perfection. If you ask any coach that if everytime his tail back runs the ball he gets 5 yards would you take it? That coach would be ecstatic but for us when Toney was running the ball 5 yards against Loudon we were wondering what was wrong with our offense. (Ok well not "us" but the stupid women all behind us). We expect perfection because year after year that is what is instilled into your mind as an Alcoa player. Since Ive seen a few predictions posted, Im going to say 34-17 Alcoa (alcoa's last TD late in the 4th)
  18. oook, thats why we have a tailback that leads the state in TDs yet splits time with Tyson, Warren and I believe Rockymore That makes a lot of sense
  19. You must be on here as often as he is if you know this.
  20. I always say the better team always wins the game. I hate people who come on and say "Oh well if we executed like we did in this game, or if we did this play then instead of that play" If you played a cupcake team in Week 2 you might have executed the play. The fact is if you dont execute your plays dont blame it on mistakes, give the other team credit that they were better then you and caused you to make those mistakes!
  21. Ill take a 28-17 Alcoa score. If i was a bookie Id have Alcoa favored by at least 10 points.
  22. About depth? Milan's undefeated.... 28-1 in 2 seasons.. I don't think depth is going to be a factor in this game. It's the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, This is every high school sports player dream. You play through injury and you never give up until the last second. I hope Alcoa thinks Milan doesn't have a chance because if that's the case then "REMEMBER THE DAWGS" will be the headlines in all the papers. Milan fans and players should be very proud of their accomplishments. Runner up and another this year or a state championship is nothing to be ashamed about HOWEVER, if you dont think depth will be a factor in the ball game then Milan is in trouble. By my official roster counts Milan has 66 players to Alcoas 95. Alcoa is a very physical team and Milan fans have liked to say that they are physical as well. In physical games teams will get beat up and wore down but Id gladly take a team with a 30 man advantage in any ball game like that. Lol I don't think anybody will want to be taken out of this game. This is what high school football is all about. Injured or not, you never wanna be out of that game. Making memories and playing to be remembered is what its all about. Ill go ahead and tell you very few players have control on if they come out of the game or not. If you're showing injury or that you're tired the coach is gonna put someone else in. I dont care if my star tailback is hobbling on 1 leg. If I got a guy on the bench that is gonna run better then him cause he has 2 good legs then he's goin in the game. Remember there is a big difference between being "hurt" and being "injured"

  24. There's this little bitty game over here we play called Alcoa vs Maryville. See, everyone praises Alcoas talent but for some reason we've only beat Maryville 3 times since 1993. Now are you saying that Alcoa doesnt have the athletes to play with Maryville? Maryville wasnt always a 4a/6a powerhouse. There have been a lot of great athletes that have come though Alcoa that never beat Maryville. See the key was 10 years ago, Alcoa would dress out 40 players (we had around 300-400 enrollment) and Maryville would dress out 40 SENIORS. Larger schools (on average) have a much bigger advantage because the percentage of people playing football is higher. If you can sub 1 guy in for 2 plays and give another guy 3 minutes to rest that can mean the world in football. Depth is a HUGE factor in most football games. Elizabethton has some great athletes on their team but you could clearly see when their team was on the field during pre game and they were out numbered by alcoa on the other side (and the linemen were still in the locker room) that it was going to be a beat down (physically). Go back and check the scores of Alcoa-Maryville games from '93 to 2000. Look at how bad Alcoa would get beat down in most of the games. Then go look at the past 5-6 years when Alcoa has had depth. Sure we might lose the game still but its no longer 49-14 is 21-17 I mean really? Who cares about Alcoa-Maryville. Thought this was a Milan/Alcoa thread. Your best bet is to worry about the DOGS Im not worried about Milan. There was a discussion about depth and I put in my 2 cents
