  1. Especially the pitching?
  2. A difference of opinion. I would have said the same thing at the beginning of the year and Justin is still pitching well, but after losing to BGA in the first region series of the year, Drew has beaten JP, BA, Davidson, MBA, Ensworth and BGA in a row. 5 of those 6 in complete games and has given up 9 total runs in the 6 games.
  3. With all due respect, you must be joking? You have 5 players from MBA and they finished 4th. You have 4 players from BA and they finished 3rd. You have 2 from Ryan and they beat BGA twice in the tourney to get the 1 seed and you have 1 from BGA and they won the regular season. MBA was 2-7 this year against BA,BGA and Ryan and you give them more spots than anybody? Please. You also don't have Ryan's best pitcher listed. Drew Brown is Ryan's best pitcher right now and beat Miller and Bass with complete games in the last 2 weeks.
  4. It was double elimination. BA lost the first game to JP2 to drop into the losers bracket. They then eliminated Ensworth and MBA. They lost to BGA in the losers bracket final and finished the region tournament 2-2 and got the third seed from the middle region. BGA finished 3-2 and got the second seed and Father Ryan finished 4-0 and will have the one seed.
  5. I'm going with Ryan Cox for Div 1 boys. In Div 2 either Rand Woodson or Eric Dennison.
  6. Who will win Div 1 and 2, boys and girls?
  7. Missouri Bowler, don't pay any attention to catscratcher, she's in the 3rd grade. For the 5th time.
  8. And schools that don't have bowlers now, may have them in the future.
  9. Division 2 scores aren't as bad as you make out. McCallie shot 3559 in the finals last year. That would not have won division 1, but if you line up their scores with the Hixson scores from last years finals Hixson would have won (17.5-9.5). That's closer than Hixson came to Smyrna in the finals (19.5-7.5). That's also better than Dobyns Bennett shot in their match (3508) , better than Mt Juliet in their 2 matches (3557 and 3498), better than both of Hendersonvilles scores (3417 and 3544), better than Cumberland Gap ( 3059) and almost as good as Brighton ( 3597 ). The year before that McCallie won Division 2 with a 3788 and Baylor shot a 3549 to lose the final match. In case your calculator is broke, 3788 is not mediocre. 3 years ago Christian Brothers shot 3519 in the finals to win Division 2 and Hendersonville shot 3560 to win Division 1. 41 pins difference in 18 games or about 2.2 pins per bowler. Division 1 is better than 2, and deeper. But the winners of division 2 the last 3 years would be competiive against Div 1 and those scores were not mediocre and that's not debatable. And where in the heck did you get a score of 2500? Thats an average of 138 per game. If they ever do break it down into A,AA and AAA and the A wins with a 2500, or anywhere close to that, I'll buy you the ball and bag of your choice.
  10. I'ts good to see 3rd graders taking an interest in high school sports. Do you want to be a bowler when you grow up?
  11. The TSSAA website has it posted now.
  12. Very few teams have coaches that are good teachers of the game. It is nice to have a good coach, but anyone willing to show up for the matches will do in order for the kids to be able to participate.
  13. Classy post. I'm sure your team mate appreciates that.

Pba Kid, Father Ryan finished 18-0 and will be the #1 seed from the middle region. The other 2 from the middle will probably be MBA and JP. None of the middle region teams will challenge for the state title.
  15. Does anyone know the schedule for state? Just wondering if team and singles are on different days.
  16. Good point. What about Tuesday night next year? Most teams starting play on Wednesday would be in town Tuesday evening wouldn't they?
  17. bigpack, I must agree with you that Goodpasture had the best team this year, but the rest of your comment is pure bonehead. What do you mean by hands down? That they would win back to back games easily ? They beat USJ 1-0, Boyd 1-0 and took 9 innings to beat Richland 1-0 in the substate. If they couldn't beat those 3 teams easily , how can you be so sure they could beat Soddy or Greenbriar back to back hands down? And if you say they beat Soddy during the year I will tell you they also lost to Beech twice during the year. So what? As far as being scary next year, Davidson won 4 straight at state last year, including the team that put Goodpasture out, and they didn't make it back this year with most of their team returning. And as far as Chattanooga area only having 2 decent teams, you're the most clueless poster on this board. Does a team have to win AAA or lose to Goodpasture in the finals to be decent?
  18. Softball complex was nice but not worth the extra drive. Also went to baseball games and the fields were nice, but once again not worth the extra drive. I suppose TSSAA has to make it's money. Just hope Nashville or Chattanooga bids higher next time around to be more convenient for more people. Opening ceremonies were planned at a bad time. Some teams were already put out and gone and others were playing and not able to attend. They should be held first thing before any events start. Memphis did a good job, they're just too far away from too many people.
  19. I've heard people say " the best team didn't win today ". Baloney. The best team ALWAYS wins. There has never been a single exception in the history of the game. All one game decides is who is best that game. Who has the best pitcher doesn't decide it, who has the best hitters or fielders doesn't decide it. It's decided by who has more runs at the end of the game. I believe Goodpasture has the best team in A this year and maybe in the state. I believe they had the best team in A last year over the entire season, but on the day they got put out last year they were not the best team on the field that day. Ezell may well be the second most talented team in the state this year over all, but on the day they got put out they weren't the best team on the field.
  20. To eagle66. Friendship beat Boyd in the substate last year to get to the state. Then they beat South Fulton and Forrest in the state and eventually finished 3rd. They won 3 games the year before to also finish 3rd. That's 5 wins at state the last 2 years, so I guess they don't always get put out the first 2 games, do they?

  22. Is Brittany Walker pitching yet?
  23. imasoftballer, this was copied and pasted directly from the official rules: (f) Because the pitcher and catcher handle the ball much more than other fielders, certain misplays on pitched balls are defined in Rule 10.15 as wild pitches and passed balls. No error shall be charged when a wild pitch or passed ball is scored. (1) No error shall be charged when the batter is awarded first base on four called balls or because he was touched by a pitched ball, or when he reaches first base as the result of a wild pitch or passed ball. (i) When the third strike is a wild pitch, permitting the batter to reach first base, score a strikeout and a wild pitch. (ii) When the third strike is a passed ball, permitting the batter to reach first base, score a strikeout and a passed ball. (2) No error shall be charged when a runner or runners advance as the result of a passed ball, a wild pitch or a balk. (i) Also, pitchers are fielders (they don't just wear that glove for protection) and when they fail to field balls that should be fielded with ORDINARY effort they are charged with an error. This would include bunts, grounders , pop-ups, covering a base and receiving a throw, acting as a cut-off , receiving the ball back from the catcher after the pitch or anything else I haven't thought of where a batter reaches base or a runner advances because of the play. owlstatman, fpjunkie is still correct. This can be 1 error for 2 bases or 2 seperate errors, depending on when the throw was made. Since we weren't there we can't know for sure.
  24. Irishmom, what you are probably thinking about is that a pitcher and a catcher are not charged with errors on wild pitches and passed balls because of the sheer number of times each handles the ball, possibly 100 or more a game. But once the ball is put in play she becomes just another fielder who can be charged with an error. Sorry Weasel, fpjunkie is right, If the throw was in time to get the runner you can not charge an error for the boot but would charge 1 error for 2 bases on the throw. If the throw would not have gotten the runner, then you have 2 errors, 1 on the boot for allowing the runner to reach first and another on the throw for allowing her to advance to second.
