  1. sounds like a good camp
  2. I just got off the boy's basketball site and found some info on a JV camp. June 9-12 at Volunteer High School in Church Hill (NorthEast TN) Cost $125 per team Play back-to-back games first three days, single elimination tournament last day Contact: Wes Smith 423-357-3641 school or 423-276-3609 cell phone
  3. First, since high school sports are considered by law extracurricular, participants do not have the right to sue if they fail a drug test as long as the expectations and consequences are clearly spelled out. Second, many people have discussed testing the band etc. This is an invasion of privacy because band is considered by law as a curricular activity. In other words, band is an academic class and therefore participants cannot be drug tested. Third, Greenville and Sullivan county schools are two that I know drug test or at least did at one time. Maybe someone in those systems can clue us in on its effectiveness. Finally, any coach, parent, or administrator that opposes drug testing has missed the point of high school athletics. In my opinion, high school sports help teach student-athletes life skills, discipline, and teamwork. Drugs do not fit in these at all.
  4. Could a 15-under AAU team get in on that or is it just for school teams?
  5. Are you talking about Chad Marcum? Is he in Georgia now? I thught they just got a new coach last year. Was he the One-Year-Wonder?
  6. I just wanted to bring this one back from the weeds. Tough week in the Watagua. Things could start shaking out. Can North stay hot, will EHS keep it going, can the Cougars bounce back from a tough Crystal Springs Tourney? Will the Falcons beat anyone in the conference that is good? Who is going to spoil it for Summey and the Raiders? Just some stuff to think about.
  7. Guys, I'm taking my thread and going home. Betsy had a great year, they should have, they were loaded. The seniors did a great job, they should have, they were great. Vince, BJ, Walter (before the knee), and Jordan can all play at the college level. Congrats on a great year. This is my first and last post on this site. Well unless I feel the need to say that again. Maybe CoachSH could make that his signature?
  8. When does Krantz get to face his old team? He probably should have gotten the North job several years ago, but they gave it to that guy from Carolina. North vs. Central could have a big impact on the conference race. North has had until recent years a great baseball tradition, and Central is just now starting one in the Krantz era, should be a good game. I'll go and sit in the cheap seats.
  9. Amen, Ego. Sounds like ArtV. ran out of intelligent things to say, so he dissed Memphrica. That was not good considering many DB folk think they are better than everyone else. I just want a good game.
  10. I concede DB's fan support for football is top-notch. They travel well and sell out at home for most any game. However, basketball has been a different story in recent years. Sure, they will take a big crowd to the Boro, but they have had many less than steller crowds at home. Yeah, big crowds for the Science Hill games, but not for many others. Don't argue that people do not want to see a blow out, because they do. Everyone loves to see the lambs slaughtered. Truth is, until recent success, the Dome has practically been an away game for the Indians. I suspect if DB loses in the first round, it will be that way again to start their year next year.
  11. I think they assign an opposing player to each one of their players. They then "guard" that man trying not to let him score. Sorry, I could not help myself. I'm betting they pressure the ball everywhere and have very little helpside in the paint. My bet though.
  12. Who in the world is Sad Holler? If that is Happy Valley, I heard they were loaded. Is that Summey kid from North the one that was so good for them last year?
