  1. The way they took over the parking spaces for tailgating is understandably annoying. What are the rules/guidelines for such at MBA games? Could the rules/guidelines be different at Trinity's games? With everyone expecting such a large crowd and with 2000 tickets having been sent to Trinity for them to sell, it seems like some folks out there regulating early parking would have been a good idea. Of course, that's hindsight. Fans show less sportsmanship that players. I remember when Germantown came to Nashville to play in the Clinic Bowl. Evidenty, Germantown is in an affluent section of Memphis. On a couple of their cars, I saw a banner that said, "We're not stuck up. We're just better than you." Isn't it a shame that after all these years, that banner is what I remember most about Germantown.
  2. Win 138 games in a row....go 10 years without a loss...and tell me that they are playing within the same parameters as those of Tennessee PUBLIC schools....yeah, right! I'd like to know how many of their players were born and raised within normal bussing distance of their school. I'm not suggesting that they cheat. I am sure they are playing within the guidelines of their state, but those must be pretty lax guidelines. Even with excellent coaching, dedication, commitment, etc, etc, the LOCAL talent pool simply will not support that kind of record.
  3. Last night someone posted a thread to a KY site similar to this one. Does anyone remember what that thread was? I'd like to see what they're saying today after some of their earlier comments.
  4. I have attended MBA games and those folks do have class. However, I can't fault Trinity folks for getting good parking places, as long as they were not designated "Handicap Parking." As for their tailgating, I love seeing that kind of enthusiasm and following at high school games. We need more of it, not less. I always try to get to games early to get the best parking available. Should I park two blocks away with the thought that someone less mobile MAY need the space I would have taken. Sounds like much ado about nothing. Sportsmanship/class in the stands is yet another thing. Cheer like crazy for YOUR team, but hold off on the boos of the other team. They are all just teenage high school kids doing their best for their team. Worst boos are fans booing their own team. My .02 worth.
  5. From what I understand, Lincoln County is big and strong. They should win some games, but before all this trash talk gets too far out of hand I'd suggest that the Falcon fans go read some of the trash talk and predictions put out by Trinity's fans before their game with MBA. Talk about eating crow this morning!!!! That was a terribly exciting game to watch last night. Good thing for Lincoln County that they don't play EITHER one of those teams.
  6. What a high school football game! With a game like Franklin - Lincoln County last night and then this fantastic game tonight, high school football is alive and VERY WELL in middle Tennessee. CONGRATUALTIONS to MBA.
  7. O.K., I keep reading a bunch about Blackman and a bunch about Lincoln County. I think they play next Friday night. Anyone want to make a prediction? How do they match up? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? Sounds so far like it should be a good game.
  8. WarriouAlumni, I agree with Oakland2001. If you think BA is the only threat to Oakland's and Riverdale's being undefeated when they meet, you don't know much about some of their other common opponents. Franktown folks think there is a bigger hill to climb than BA.
  9. On a Friday night like last night with thunderstorms all around, whose call is it during the game to postpone the game? And once a game has been postponed, whose call is it to go back onto the field? I've heard conflicting stories from officials, coaches and administrators. Is there a TSSAA rule that specifically addresses that situation?
  10. Several comments have been made about the Lincoln County field goal in the fierce cross wind. I wonder how many people thought he was going to fake it. I know I did. I had no idea that he'd attempt a field goal in those conditions.
  11. I hear Shelbyville has had two or three transfers. One girl is 6' 2" and quick.
  12. I don't know how badly Lincoln County "beat" Franklin. I hear it was more like time running out while Lincoln County was ahead. Franklin has a very good team, and they will win lots of games.
  13. I think Gregory had about 190 yards tonight.
  14. How 'bout Franklin County vs. Lincoln County?
  15. Michael Edmiston from Lincoln County is an exceptional high school quarterback...big, strong, fast, strong arm, hard to tackle. With those attributes, he is able to make things happen.
  16. chuckyboy, good post...but we old folks won't be in "good shape" we'll be outta our jobs. LOL
  17. Why don't you whiners lobby the TSSAA to change the eligibility rules to something like this.... To be eligible to play a sport, a player must have been BORN in that school's zone...and maybe even add that the parents and grandparents must have been born there also. What would satisfy you whiners? The Shelbyville program is operating within the guidelines that ALL other schools must use. They are constantly under the microscope of the TSSAA just because of whiners like you. If Coach Insell can operate and win championships within the TSSAA guidelines and your team cannot, then I'd suggest you examine your own program and make improvemensts there. That would get you much further than simply attacking a winner. Ever considered that Coach Insell may just be outworking some other folks.
  18. Coach Insell has respect and praise for the Beech team. This is a direct quote from the newspaper in Shelbyville. Coach Insell said, "We knew we couldn't man them (Beech). We've manned everybody we've played this year, but not them...and we knew we couldn't because they are so smart. They run a motion offense and we knew we couldn't guard them. They're great outside shooters. They handle the ball well. They've got good hands and good foot speed and we knew it would be a challenge to go man to man with them." Seems like amid all the slanderous and libelous remarks about him and his program, Coach Insell is still a big enough man to give credit where credit is due. I guess Coach Insell, as much as anyone, appreciates a good basketball team. And he saw one in Beech on Saturday night. By the way, I am not from either place, but I, too, appreciate good girls' basketball...and sportsmanship.
  19. Here we go again.... Beech does have an outstanding team and coach...class all the way. They played with heart and laid it all on the line. On another night they might have won. They are that good, and they deserve all the acolades thrown their way. So, why do some want to put down Shelbyville in their effort to praise Beech. That is not necessary. What Coach Insell has is not a business. It is an outstanding basketball program that many aspire to have. He runs it like a business...and what's wrong with that. He has discipline on his team that is not seen often these days. You don't see his girls get mad at officials. When is the last time a Shelbyville player had a technical foul called on them? Like Beech, Shelbyville is a class act. I just wish my school had a program and a team and a coach like that at Shelbyville OR Beech.
  20. varsitywbball, Beech truly gave an outstanding effort and they are due all the praise they are receiving. I applaud their effort, their character, and their class. That said, your derogatory remarks about the Eaglettes were uncalled for and out of line. You have no place to slander the Eaglettes in reference to their character, team spirit or any other aspect of their basketball team or their school. You don't need to put another team down in showing support for your team. In doing so, you show your own lack of class.
  21. Beech surprised everyone with their upset of Oak Ridge. What are their chances of doing it again against Shelbyville?
  22. PurplePeople...sorry, but it's going to take more than the color purple. Check out what happened to the last "PurplePeople" Shelbyville met in the playoffs...just a couple of weeks ago. Shelbyville won 67-16 Surely, the same fate doesn't await you, but you're gonna need more than the color purple.
  23. Congratulations! Y'all did have a good season, especially to be so young, but be careful what you wish for.."see Shelbyville again..." Shelbyville only loses a couple of players. Their big guns....Fuller and Newman will be back with a host of others. Year after next is when you may really want to meet Shelbyville.
