According to the Knoxville News Sentinel- 137 wins in 7 years (almost 20 a year) 4 Championships in 7 years Coach Sharp KNOWS the game of baseball. From his quotes in the paper - he is a class individual (note had I been "forced to resign"- from the hardware store I would not have been able to show the class that Coach Sharp showed) Sounds like a couple of upset parents are running the pricipal office at Karns it will only get worse in time. (as we have seen hear in M'town time and time again) Karns will have a tough time filling this opening with a coach that has any experience REASON if the parents can get rid of a proven WINNER like COACH SHARP is anyone safe. All the coaches at Karns should be looking over their shoulders ?? Who will be next ??? Coach Sharp (if you read this) You will be better off - you deserve to be some where that the administration will SUPPORT their coaches. You showed a great deal of class in your comments in the paper.

What will it mean to the football program not having Jerry T? Mr. Williams was always a big supporter of East High Athletics. Anytime a college coach takes over a program-you can count orn this statement in the press conference, "support of the administration" or "The administration is committed to winning". When a pro coach leaves it is usually a result of a change in the front office. At West Coach Don Woods always sings the praise of Principal Mike Reed and former AD Scott Walker. What will the change of administration have of East Football and other sports. Will Calvin Decker be the new AD? Will Gary Johnson be the new Principal ???

I have stayed away from this as long as i could-wanted to gain knowledge of the facts before responding. 1) If the players were so unhappy that they needed to make a "statement " does not look like they would be that upset about not being on the team. If I am unhappy then I do not mind walking away- sounds like the players had made up their mind when they walked away. 2) I agree with redrage seems as though the coach is in charge and if you do not want to do things his way then walk away "highway" 3) Maybe the basketball coach at Central could learn from this Baseball coach. 4) No coach ( young or old / good or bad / smart or inexperienced) is going to dismiss his only 3 seniors 2 of which have signed to play college baseball unless their is another issue involved - either in the past or another issue related to this missed practice. 5) It is my guess that the Coach probably did discuss this issue with the AD or principal before handing down this verdict. Seems like a logical step. Most coaches would not want the AD catching wind of this in the hallway during class change. Better off letting him know this ahead of time. 6) Morristown West has went against the Central coach when he was with JeffCo and the players and Coach Danny Clark always had a great deal of respect for him as a coach-- YES, I understand that people change but i doubt that he has changed that much. 7) A coach is going to ask players to do things that they would not do on their own, push the team beyond what they would do on their own, and ask them to leave their comfort zone. This often makes players uncomfortable and/or brings up negative fellings toward thew grownup in charge usually the love of the game or the joy of being around the teamates and friends is enough to overcome that. BUT from the comments of the former player and the recent action at the Central games seem to be glad that they are losing. That is a disappointment. No matter the coach (Phil Jackson/Kobe, Philadelphia/Iverson) a coach pushes the players. The West side of Morristown supports the Coach.

The Powell bats came to life. Who had the hits for Powell ??? Singles??? Doubles??? Triples?????? Homeruns????? Bunts??????????? Hit and Runs?????? Stolen Bases???????? Great thing about this board - is fans usually give detail--usually alot more than the newspapers ??????What happened ?????? Did Central call it off or was it the officals ???? ???Was Powell missing any basketball players? In the IMAC alot of basketball players also play a spring sport.

When a team has a great deal of success ADs looking for coaches usually come a knocking. Coach K is ready to take over a program of his own. The big question is will he be willing to leave with a strong team returning. As for the other ast. (the young one) I have not heard enough about his backgroud to know .

Powell girls team does not have a Morristown native on staff. Morristown is proud of the Powell as a team from EAST TENNESSEE. Morristown is proud of Greeneville as a team from EAST TENNESSEE. When Morristown West went to the State a couple of years ago -I was very impressed with the # of calls of congratulations that came from all over the region wishing is good luck and calling to say "way to go". Sorry if my comment caused any confusion.
